The article presents the research of use of modern 3D measurement contact-less methods for quality inspection in automotive industry production. Experience with measuring parts and functional assemblies of complex shape and advantages of the optical methods of digitization are shown on a practical example of analysis of dimensional stability of car decorative strip plastic mouldings. The goal is to demonstrate that the modern methods of dimensional analysis of 3D products can significantly participate in optimization of the manufacturing process and ensuring higher quality of the products.Contact-less 3D systems, so called 3D scanners, were used for the measuring purposes. With their help, the tested sample were digitized in high resolution, and he obtained models of real parts underwent a thorough inspection of precision of shape and dimensions. The attention was directed primarily at the problematic spots – deviation of the strip ends when compared to the nominal CAD model. The analysis was performed using various alignment to the CAD model, thus contributing to finding context with respect to mounting points on the vehicle rails. Concurrently, an influence of galvanic plating on the accuracy of the product was studied.

In the automotive industry or in similar industries, body panels need to be perfectly smooth for visual and aerodynamic reasons. In some cases, the component is a hand-made body part that will require a suitable CAD model for further development and manufacturing. Such a smooth CAD model can only be produced through reverse-engineering and CAD procedures that will make use of accurate surface reconstruction. This paper describes a reverse-engineering procedure for the production of a suitable CAD mesh from which surface reconstruction can take place. It then analyzes and compares three approaches assessing the continuity and the quality of each set of NURBS patches: automatic, semiautomatic, and completely manual surfacing. Recommendations are made for each method when creating CAD surfaces. Finally, a procedure is suggested to optimize the time and the quality of the final CAD model.

Providing high quality of products not covered by defective products is an important part of the supply chain between the manufacturer of the automotive parts and the final assembly company. The paper presents the results of research related to determining the effectiveness of quality control in a company producing plastic components for automotive industry at separate levels. Upon detection of nonconforming products at his plant, recepient according to the contract asked the supplier to launch the Controlled Shipping Level 1 procedures. As a result of the lack of significant improvement, there was run in the supplier’s plant the Controlled Shipping Level 2 procedure realized on an outsourcing basis by specialized external company. Presented results of the research have made it possible to determine the effectiveness of carried out control activities. Carried out research, also confirmed by expert interviews, show that automotive companies aim to make their business more flexible so that they respond faster and more easily to internal and mainly external factors. What in the opinion of production and quality managers provides outsorcing of quality control.

A stay has been carried out in a metalworking company located in the Valle de Aguascalientes Industrial Park, in order to carry out a study that can reflect the state of manufacture of various metal parts that involve an electrical resistance welding process. The manufacturing area is called Automotive and has 5 welding machines of various brands and capacities in which different models of automotive parts are manufactured for various clients of the automotive industry in Aguascalientes Mexico. The study focuses on the review of the process based on the regulations that are handled in the company and that are the JIS B 1196 referring to spot welding, from which two main characteristics are extracted to guarantee the quality of the product and that are the resistance to weld stress and torsional strength. The manufacturing standards used determine that every hour a stress test must be carried out on the different manufactured parts according to their classification, welding is tested on 6M, 8M and 10M nuts of the international system applying loads in a brand FORSE DX-2.5 model hydraulic press and one hundred percent tests torque on parts with 6M nuts welded, which are tested in a devise of our own design. The data taken for the evaluation were obtained in the company's metrology laboratory and showed a very marked dispersion, although said data apparently did not exceed the established limits. A review and evaluation of the process was carried out and limits and improvements were proposed that guarantee good quality of the products. Some practices that can affect quality were found, they are described and a solution is proposed to prevent them from being carried out in the process.

Abstract The electronics supply chain is being increasingly infiltrated by non-authentic, counterfeit electronic parts, whose use poses a great risk to the integrity and quality of critical hardware. There is a wide range of counterfeit parts such as leads and body molds. The failure analyst has many tools that can be used to investigate counterfeit parts. The key is to follow an investigative path that makes sense for each scenario. External visual inspection is called for whenever the source of supply is questionable. Other methods include use of solvents, 3D measurement, X-ray fluorescence, C-mode scanning acoustic microscopy, thermal cycle testing, burn-in technique, and electrical testing. Awareness, vigilance, and effective investigations are the best defense against the threat of counterfeit parts.

Abstract This paper presents a computer vision system for evaluating the quality of deburring and edge breaking on aluminum and steel blocks. This technique produces both quantitative (size) and qualitative (quality) measures of chamfering operation from images taken with an off-the-shelf camera. We demonstrate that the proposed computer vision system can detect edge chamfering geometry within a 1–2mm range. The proposed technique does not require precise calibration of the camera to the part nor specialized hardware beyond a macro lens. Off-the-shelf components and a CAD model of the original part geometry are used for calibration. We also demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed technique on edge breaking quality control.

Ultrasonic metal welding is used in the automotive industry for a wide variety of joining applications, including batteries and automotive wire harnessing. During electric vehicle battery pack assembly, the battery cell tab and busbar are ultrasonically welded. Quality inspection of these welds is important to ensure durable packs. A method for inspection of ultrasonic welds is proposed using pulsed infrared (IR) thermography in conjunction with electrical resistance measurements to assess the structural and electrical weld integrity. The heat source distribution (HSD) was calculated to obtain thermal images with high temporal and spatial resolution. All defective welds were readily identifiable using three postprocess analyses: pixel counting, gradient image, and knurl pattern assessment. A positive relationship between pixel count and mechanical strength was observed. The results demonstrate the potential of pulsed thermography for inline inspection to assess weld integrity.

Abstract. Today's society has entered the era of big data, and the quality of surveying and mapping results has become the focus of government departments. As the statistical results of other industries, surveying and mapping results as one of the basic data sources provide data support for government decision-making, The status of surveying and mapping projects is constantly improving. This article introduces the ISO9001 quality management system implemented by the surveying and mapping production unit, the CMA quality management system implemented by the surveying and mapping quality inspection unit, and the first-level acceptance system for the two-level inspection of surveying and mapping products. Through the cause and effect diagram, taking the quality control of the fundamental geographical conditions monitoring of the national major surveying and mapping project as an example, the use method of the core tool 5M1E (Man, Machine, Material, Methods, Measurement, Environment) in the quality management system is demonstrated to prove that the quality management system plays an important role in the project. Provide reference experience for peers.
