The effect addition of Na2O on the solubility properties of phosphate glass of the composition, 45P2O5-18CaO-xNa2O-(34-x)K2O-6Al2O3, where x = 0,5,10,15 and 20 wt. %. has been studied. Glass transition temperature (Tg) of glass samples, weight loss and pH of the immersion solution were measured. The Tg value of the phosphate glass also decreased with the incorporation of Na2O up to 10 wt. % and increased with the incorporation of 15 and 20 wt. %. These results indicates that the solubility and Tg value of phosphate glass were highly influence by the glass composition. The substitution of Na2O to the phosphate glass system with the present of K2O has decrease the solubility of phosphate glass. The released of phosphate and calcium ion seem to decrease with the increasing of Na2O content in the glass composition.

The ionic conductivity and permittivity of glasses based on ZrF4, BaF2, LaF3, AlF3 and NaF (ZBLAN) or PbF2, InF3, BaF2, AlF3 and LaF3 (PIBAL) are studied. The influence of the glass composition on the glass transition temperature (Tg) and on the crystallization temperature (Tx) is reported. For all ZBLAN glasses the temperature dependencies of the ionic conductivity are close one to another (s500 = 8(2)·10-6 S/cm) and their conduction activation enthalpies are equal to 0.82(1)eV. From the point of view of the ionic conductivity, the best glass compositions are the PIBAL50 (50 m/o PbF2) and PIB45 ( 45 m/o PbF2).

Abstract A series of random polysulfone/polyethersulfone (PSF/PES) copolymers were synthesized by the polycondensation of 4,4′-isopropylidenediphenol, 4,4′-dihydroxyldiphenylsulfone, and 4,4′-dichlorodiphenylsulfone in the presence of potassium carbonate. The resulting copolymers displayed similar solubility with PSF and PES. The glass transition temperature and the 5% weight loss temperature of these copolymers varied in the range of 199°C–299°C and 467°C–498°C, respectively, which showed excellent thermal stability. Moreover, the elongation at break of these copolymers was much higher than that of PES, whereas the tensile strength was a little lower.

Transformations of glasses from the multicomponent pseudobinary system (As2Se3)100−x(SbSI)x were analyzed from the aspect of determining the glass transition temperature Tg, activation energy of the process Et, and characteristic changes of the specific heat. The established dependence of Tg on glass composition and heating rate served as the basis for determining the activation energy of glass transition process Et. An abrupt increase in the specific heat cp at the glass transition temperature was analyzed with the aim of classifying the materials according to the criterion of the so-called 'fragility'. It was found that the investigated glasses, i.e. their melts, belong to the group of thermodynamically 'strong' melts.

AbstractA series of new polyamides (PAs) has been prepared from a Troeger base-bridged diamine (TB), 2,8- diamino-4,10-dimethyl-6H,12H-5,11-methanodibenzo[1,5]-diazocine and different commercially available diacid monomers via the conventional polycondensation method. Dense membranes were prepared from the PAs by solution casting and solvent evaporation techniques. The synthesized PAs showed high glass transition temperature (283–290°C), 10% weight loss up to temperature 431°C in air, and tensile strength up to 91 MPa. The PA membranes showed higher permeability than some commercially used glassy polymers (PCO2 up to 109 and PO2 up to 21 Barrer) and permselectivity (PCO2/PCH4 up to 53.7 and PO2/PN2 up to 7.52) in comparison to many other PAs published in the literature.

RPSL-02 type photosensitive resin for stereolithography material was prepared with 3,4-epoxycyclohexylmethyl-3',4'-epoxycyclohexanecarboxylate (UVR 6110), bisphenol A type epoxy diacrylate (EA-612), trimethyolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA), polycaprolactone polyol (polyol-0301), triethylene glycol divinyl ether (DVE-3), benzil dimethyl ketal (Irgacure651) and a mixture of triarylsulfonium hexafluoroantimonate salts (UVI-6976) as raw materials. Some properties of the photosensitive resin were investigated. The viscosity of the photosensitive resin at 30°C was 395mPa.S, The glass transition temperature (Tg ) of the UV-cured specimen was 52°C, and the weight loss of the UV-cured specimen at 200°C was less than 5%. The photosensitive resin and its UV-cured specimen were also characterized by infrared (IR).

ABSTRACTThe bioresorbable 10CaO·35Na2O·55P2O5 glass was nitrided by melting the glass under anhydrous ammonia. The nitrided glasses were fiberized at about 720 °C in air. The dynamic and the equilibrium pH value of the glass increases with the increase of nitrogen content. The incorporation of nitrogen not only increases the glass transition temperature, but also improves the chemical durability and makes it easier to fiberize. Further more, the nitrided glass is more resistant to devitrification.

A series of acrylonitrile (AN)-methacrylate (MA)-dimethyl maleate (DMM) terpolymers with different molar ratios were fabricated by emulsion polymerization. The feeding ratio agrees well with the composition of AN-MA-DMM terpolymer. With increasing the molar ratio of DMM in terpolymer, glass transition temperature (Tg) increases to higher temperature at first and then decreases. Tgdrops to the lowest value-78.6 °C when the feeding ratio is 85/13/2 mol%. The melting temperature (Tm) of 85/11/4 AN-MA-DMM terpolymer is the lowest at-137.2 °C, while its resistant temperature (5 wt% weight loss, T0.05) rises up to the highest value, -314.9 °C. DMM plays an important role in improving the melt flowability of PAN based copolymer. The cross sections of 85/14/1 AN-MA-DMM fiber are compact and the outer surfaces of the fiber are smooth. Tensile strength of AN-MA-DMM fiber is 3.4 cN/dtex.
