This paper deals with Brushless DC (BLDC) motor drive mathematical model with hysteresis current controlled based Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) which operates using Neural Network (NN). The developed simulation model is applied with the artificial neuro speed controller which is based on Least Mean Square (LMS) and Adaptive Linear Neuron (ADALINE) to improve the performance of BLDC motor drive. Under dynamic operating conditions, the NN speed controller is trained by the data obtained from closed loop speed controller of BLDC motor drive system. The developed conventional and proposed simulation models are simulated using MATLAB/Simulation software. The proposed neural based speed controller is important for tracking of motor speed as well as torque with their reference values with minimum transient time. In this paper ADALINE network model is developed for update of weights in NN. Here, a comparative study has been done for PI and NN controller for BLDC drive. The simulation results show that the NN based speed controller is more effective controller compared to classical PI based speed controller during most of the dynamic operating conditions.

The main objective of this research work is to design the electronically communtated brushless direct current (BLDC) motor and analysis its performance in MATLAB environment. The use of BLDC engine is expanding daily, the performance analysis is progressively significant and the consumer loyalty is significant. In light of the ranking and requirements, the BLDC engine is planned. The BLDC motor is widely used in a variety of fields. Low ripple input supply and a suitable speed controller are needed to achieve desired motor output. The output of BLDC motors, such as torque, voltage, and speed response, is examined in this paper. The controller parameters have been fine-tuned to improve motor speed. It has been discovered that a three phase voltage source inverter (VSI) fed BLDC motor with a fractional-order proportional-integral-derivative (FOPID) controller provides superior BLDC motor response. The outcomes are broke down utilizing the MATLAB programming.

A novel speed controller for the three-phase Brushless DC (BLDC) Motor Drive is proposed using a closed-loop AC-DC Bridgeless SEPIC Converter in continuous Conduction mode. This design proposes a single stage AC-DC converter with ON and OFF state equivalent circuits for 400W, 48V at 2450 rpm PMBLDC motor drive. The Fuzzy based voltage and current controlling method is proposed in this design. The voltage controlling method is used to control the speed for BLDC motor and the current controlling method is used to improve the power factor in AC supply. The speed of BLDC motor is observed with voltage disturbance and the constant motor speed is maintained. The proposed control method on SEPIC converter fed PMBLDC motor drive is modeled by Simulink/Matlab.

<p>This paper presents a control scheme for speed control system in brushless dc (BLDC) motor to be utilized for electric motorbike. While conventional motorbikes require engine and fuel, electric motorbikes require DC motor and battery pack in order to be powered up. The limitation with battery pack is that it will need to be recharged after a certain period and distance. As the recharging process is time consuming, a PID controller is designed to maintain the speed of the motor at its optimum state, thus ensuring a longer lasting battery time (until the next charge). The controller is designed to track variations of speed references and stabilizes the output speed accordingly. The simulation results conducted in MATLAB/SIMULINK® shows that the motor, equipped with the PID controller was able to track the reference speed in 7.8x10-2 milliseconds with no overshoot.  The result shows optimistic possibility that the proposed controller can be used to maintain the speed of the motor at its optimum speed.</p>

This paper presents the performance of Brushless DC (BLDC) Motor drive with only one positioning sensor instead of three conventional sensors. The three sensor units are replaced with a single stator current sensor unit in DC bus which further reduces the cost increasing the reliability of the drive system. Using a single sensor in stator requires minimum electronic equipment for the purpose of measurement process. This paper evolves the BLDC motor drive fed from PV system. A high voltage-gain DC-DC converter is presented in this paper to step-up the voltage from PV system. The appropriateness of PV fed BLDC motor drive is verified for variable increamental speed with fixed torque and variable decremental speed with fixed torque operating conditions. BLDC motor drive performance is also performed for variable torque with fixed peed working condition. The proposed system and results are developed using MATLAB/SIMULINK software.

There is a great concern of torque ripple and power quality of three phase voltage source converter fed Permanent Magnet Brushless DC Motor (PMBLDCM). In this paper, two control strategies for BLDC motor drive has been investigated. One of the control strategies is based on PFC - CUK converter fed PMBLDCM drive and another one is PFC- interleaved boost converter fed BLDC motor drive. Comparison has been made between the two control stragies in terms of Torque ripple, Total harmonic distortion (THD) and power factor for different operating speeds. The proposed work as been implemented under MATLAB/simulink environment. Simulation results are presented to validate proposed work. From the results, it is observed that PFC interleaved Boost converter fed BLDC motor drive is more effective compared to CUK converter fed BLDC motor drive.

In this paper, analysis of solar power fed Brushless DC motor (BLDC) motor drive with a boost converter is presented for water pumping application in irrigation system. Nowa days, the usage of renewable PV source is increasing gradually, due to the encouragement of eco-friendly energy sources by providing subsidies for the installation in the initial states. In the agricultural sector, the water pump system requires a 3-ϕ power supply, for that we need a separate transmission line and transformers to meet the load demand. In this paper, a solar power fed BLDC motor water pumping system with boost converter and Voltage source Inverter (VSI) is presented which reduces the converter switch stress by increasing the voltage transfer gain ratio. VSI needs a huge dc link capacitor that is inherently unreliable and is one of the most expensive components of a drive.A MPPT controller is required to extract maximum power from the high penetrating renewable PV source and also proposes the Current source inverter (CSI) fed water pumping system is developed and examine with same operating conditions. A comparative analysis view in existing method of system replace the VSI with CSI. The performance of system is analyzed with speed settling times at same operating conditions. The proposed work is carried out in the MATLAB/Simulinksoftware. A comparative analysis is also presented in lucid manner

This paper mainly impacts on a bridgeless buck boost converter fed Brush Less Direct Current (BLDC) motor drive with Power Factor Correction (PFC) which is low cost and well suitable for low power applications. The speed of the BLDC motor is controlled by adjusting the Voltage Source Inverter’s dc link voltage which is then employed along with a distinct voltage sensor. Thus the fundamental frequency switching of VSI operation becomes quite ease with BLDC motor’s electronic turn off which provides minimal switching losses. An acceptable performance is attained for speed control having power quality indicators within the allowable limits. To end with the suggested drive’s prototype model has been implemented to evaluate and confirm the suggested BLDC motor drive’s performance for various speed controls with enhanced AC main’s power quality.

Brushless DC (BLDC) motors are widely used for many industrial applications because of their high efficiency, high torque and low volume. In view of the problem that the current control method of speed regulation system of BLDC motor has poor control effect caused by fixed parameters of PID controller, an adaptive PID algorithm with quadratic single neuron (QSN) was designed. Quadratic performance index was introduced in adjustment of weight coefficients; expected optimization effect was gotten by calculating control law. QSN adaptive PID controller can change its parameters online when operating conditions are changed, it can also change its control characteristic automatically. Matlab simulations and experiment results showed that the proposed approach has less overshoot, faster response, stronger ability of anti-disturbance, the results also showed more effectiveness and efficiency than the conventional PID model in motor speed control.

This paper presents an intelligent motor speed controller for an earthquake simulator using fuzzy logic algorithm developed inside a programmable logic controller environment. The desired motor speed is obtained using two fuzzy inputs namely, the process error and the rate of process error. These fuzzy inputs are feedback data from the motor drive. Different earthquake intensities were used to test the controller’s performance in real time undergoing different load variations. Experiment results showed that the developed controller is accurate, reliable and robust.
