The paper examines how academic social media utilisation can enhance research activities of Library and Information Science educators in Nigerian universities. The study highlighted the various research activities of Library and Information Science educators such as information gathering, collaboration, and dissemination of research findings and measurement of impacts. In addition, the authors elaborated on the benefits of academic social media such as Research gate, Academia.edu, Google Scholar, LinkedIn, Open Researcher Contributor Identity and Mendeley to include profile creation, information gathering, search for potential collaborators, instant research result dissemination, measurement of impact and management of research. The study stated that factors such as social influence, technical factors and personal factors can influence use of academic social media platforms. A survey of iSchool and Library and Information Science American Library Association accredited school heads explored their use and opinions about academic social media platforms. Results show that ResearchGate is the venue of choice, although respondents do not believe maintaining a profile on academic social media platforms influences academic careers. Respondents do see the value of academic social media sites to enhance visibility and reputation. These data are complemented with an analysis of the visibility on academic/professional social media platforms of this group. The altmetric indicators derived from the data were compared to traditional bibliometric indicators.

The present paper focuses on the explore of social media such as Face book, Twitter, Whatsapp, etc. to work as an effective tool for imparting information or knowledge and prove helpful in making awareness among Library and Information Science (LIS) Professionals of University Libraries of University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad as most important aspect of social mediaas its emphasis on online collaboration and sharing because it has social networking, user centric characteristics. Purpose – The purpose of this study is to have a closer look at the awareness of referencing utilities among the library professionals in India. In a research environment, referencing and bibliography play an important role in the dissemination of research findings through scholarly writings. Citing references while writing scholarly articles has become more eloquent mainly due to the availability of a range of bibliography management utilities. Currently, there are various types of Bibliography Management Software (BMS) available for the management of the citation, referencing and compiling bibliographies. Librarians have a crucial role to play in helping the faculty, students and research scholars in the process of writing their scholarly articles and theses, especially in the area of referencing. Design/methodology/approach – The study was conducted through an online survey with an aim to assess the perception, awareness and use of BMS by the Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals in India. Findings – In the academic environment, published results of research findings are crucial for the advancement of knowledge. The published research findings are often supported and disputed using the citation of previous studies. There are a number of supporting technologies that are intended to help in procuring needed citations and streamlining them for better research output. The role of the librarian in this endeavor is undisputed. This study shows that there is a need for strengthening the awareness of BMS at the institutional level and also hands-on experience is needed for library professionals to help in the process of research writing and advocate for adopting correct referencing style (citation style) while writing scholarly articles. Practical implications – The increased use of information and communication technology in the process of scholarly writing, especially in the search and retrieval of relevant articles and the availability of electronic journals and books, have resulted in an increased number of research articles being written by research scholars. The downside to this overflow of scholarly and creative writing is the incorrect way of using referencing style in the dissemination of research and the possibilities of malpractice and plagiarism. This study will help in creating awareness of the utility of citation and BMS in content writing, especially among library and information professionals, as they play an important role in facilitating research. Social implications – This study will be beneficial for the LIS professionals in understanding the effectiveness of their services when complemented by the use of technology-powered tools. Creating awareness of the use of BMS in content development in scholarly communication promises to create a flawless scholarly output as library professionals will help researchers in guiding research writings with correct referencing and citation. Originality/value – Use of BMS helps in the development of content in an organized, methodical and scientific way. The role of library and information professionals working with different researchers and scholars in advocating and practicing the use of BMS will go a long way in creating more streamlined content.

Student’s magister is one of user library university of Indonesia those who need information regarding duty as carried out college.  With different backgrounds students as, made they need facilities sources of information easy and efficient. The library University of Indonesia the provision of information service, including service online reference to access the international journal address URL through: http: // remote-lib.ui.ac.id (EZProxy to access international journals). This service is facilities remote access, connected with resource at a network central from one location. Students can access journal electronic wherever and anytime simply by making log-in through single sign on.  Synthesis a problem in this research is to find how the facility of an EZProxy ui by student magister library and science university of Indonesia? For the purpose to get the facility of a remote lib ui to access the international journal of student magister library science. The result of this research can be a useful tool as input to student’s library science to develop study would check in the field of library services. Research locations in university Indonesia, election student magister library science, because have a background various activity. With a population of consists of 25 students. And techniques the sample collection by using non probability of sampling with the methods purposive sampling. The sample in this research were informants ever use the service of EZProxy (http: // remote-lib.ui.ac.id) at least once. The majority of informants interviewed 4 people with distribution 2 men and women 2. Technique the data collection was done in two ways that is observation and interview. The next step is to analyzed data. Analysis of data done by means of transcrip the results of interviews, then the data reduced, presentation of data and the withdrawal of conclusion. This research result indicates that the utilization of EZProxy to access international journals by student magister library of science university of Indonesia based on (1) ease in search of articles the international journal, (2) are provided free of charge by a library university of Indonesia so it is more efficient. (3) Can be accessed wherever and anytime, (4) the utilization is very easy, not convoluted (5) Simple, summarized in one online database. So users not get confused.

In an increasingly globalized world, social justice issues dominate the news. Libraries are often viewed as places where social justice ideals are upheld and promoted. This paper uses a content analysis methodology of 10 North American library and information science program websites to discover how social justice education is marketed to potential students through an examination of open access course descriptions, mission statements, and core learning objectives where available. Findings indicate that social justice is embedded in library and information science programs, but there are limited opportunities for prospective students to seek out these courses due to a lack of open access course descriptions and mission statements and shortage of integration in required courses. If library and information science educators want to attract future librarians with strong social justice agendas, then the promotional materials will need to be more explicit in regards to how these programs can aid students in building a social justice mindset.

Purpose The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between social media and libraries in terms of marketing. The present research is to find out the factors and impact as well as the issues related to libraries and marketing using social media. This study will give massive information regarding social media use for the marketing of library sources and services. Design/methodology/approach This study so far has been taken into account to review all the related literature of social media and library marketing. All the related literature studies were reviewed according to the suggested objectives of the study. Findings The present study reveals after reviewing literature that there is a great impact of social media on libraries. The literature shows that social media is the biggest change in the twenty-firstst century for library professionals and librarians. The reviewed literature studies have discovered that the libraries are facing too many challenges and issues to the adoption of social media for the marketing of library sources and services. The collected and analyzed works of the literature indicated that social media would be the best tool to promote library sources and services. Research limitations/implications This research or study can serve the LIS professionals and librarians in the field of library and information science and librarianships that they are looking for the adoption and application of social media in the marketing of library sources and services to the targeted customers. Practical implications This research or study can serve the LIS professionals and Librarians in the field of library and information science and librarianships that they are looking for the adoption and application of social media in the marketing of library sources and services to the targeted customers. Preprints are increasingly relevant for fast dissemination of research results. This article analyses its use in the EDICIC 2019 conference, where authors were requested to deposit their preprints before the conference in order to encourage interaction among participants and to push their publication in refereed journals as a substitute for conference proceedings. The results of a survey among corresponding authors of accepted papers show little familiarity with preprints. Nevertheless, nearly three-quarters of authors deposited their preprint before the conference. Most of them agree that a conference runs more smoothly if preprints are available to attendees before the event and agree to reduce time slots devoted to presentations in order to encourage the debate between presenters and attendees. To a lesser extent, survey respondents would like to see this model implemented in other Library and Information Science conferences, although they disagree on whether journals from that area are ready to accept preprints in the framework of open science principles. Authors who had deposited their preprint before the conference were more willing to submit their work to a journal for formal publication as an article. Finally, surveyed authors expressed their concerns regarding the lack of recognition of their participation if conference proceedings are not published; highlighted the effort made to pass a double evaluation by conference organisers and journal editors; emphasized that the culture of preprints and open science is not consolidated among disciplinary journals as yet; and noted that the aim of increasing interaction and debate was not fully reached.
