Objective – to define the diversity of Rosaceae representatives in parks and squares of Kryvyi Rih city and to evaluate their vitality, longevity and perspectives of further apply for landscaping of the region. Material and methods. The object of our study is plantings of representatives of the family Rosaceae in parks and squares of city of Kryvyi Rih. We used such investigation methods: visual, morphometric and statistical ones. Results. In the parks and squares of Kryvyi Rih, family Rosaceae is the most divers – it is represented by 43 species, 5 hybrids and 5 cultivars, which together belong to 20 genera. The most represented genera are Spiraea (7 taxa), Sorbus (5), Cotoneaster (4), Malus (4), Padus (4), and Prunus (4), while the rest of genera comprises from 1 to 3 taxa. The geographic analysis suggests significant prevalence of species from East-Asian (36.5 %) and Circumboreal (34.6 %) regions. According to distribution of life forms, there is some predominance of shrubs; they represent 56 % of total number of Rosaceae. With regard to height classes, trees of third class of size (34.6 %) and undersized shrubs (25 %) prevail. As for age structure, 20–40-year-old shrubs and trees (about 70 %) predominate. The highest level of vital state is noted for 60 % of plants of this family, average level – for 30 %, and low level – for 10 %. 72 % of evaluated plants were classified as highly decorative and 28 % as decorative. In future, enrichment of plantings of the region may be carried out by using the collection stock of arboreal plants of Kryvyi Rih Botanical Garden the NAS of Ukraine, comprising about 350 species, varieties and cultivars of 31 genera of the family Rosaceae. Conclusions. The most of investigated Rosaceae plants, in conditions of large industrial city located in the Steppe zone of Ukraine, were characterized by high viability and decorativeness. Hence, these plants deserve to be more widely used for greening of cities and towns of Right-Bank of the Steppe zone of Ukraine.

We present the study results of modern dendroflora of Donetsk (a large industrial city of the south steppe zone). We have determined the species composition, analyzed the age structure of plantations, estimated the life condition of trees and shrubs. Plantations compose 76 species and 32 forms, types, sorts of trees, including 11 species and 9 sorts of the coniferous, as well as 79 species and 35 forms, sorts of shrubs, including 7 species and 19 sorts of the coniferous. Trees and shrubs belong to 78 genera, which are included into 38 families. The most represented family among the deciduous is Rosaceae Juss. - 46 species and 13 sorts, among the coniferous - Pinaceae Lindl. (9 species and 6 sorts), Cupressaceae Rich. ex Bartl. (7 species and 22 sorts). Tree species dominating in plantations are Populus bolleana Lauche (14,6% of the total number of trees), dominating shrubs are the sorts of Rosa hybrida (44,0% of the total number of shrubs). In the plantations studied we have indicated 33 species of trees and shrubs of the aboriginal fraction of local flora. Analysis of the age structure of plantations revealed that the majority of trees compose the age group of 20-29 years, the majority of shrubs - up to 10 years. Fast-growing species prevail in plantations (73% of the total number). Viability of the most part of trees of fast-growing and slow-growing species is estimated by 4 points, viability of moderate-growing species - by 6 points. The number of trees being in unsatisfactory condition (0 or 1-3 points) prevails among fast-growing species.

Reproductive capability is considered as one of indicators of successful introduction; it helps to evaluate adaptation potential of plants, especially in techogenic conditions. The aim of our work is to research morphometric parameters of cones, profitability and seed quality of Рісеа аbies та P. pungens in the plantations with various levels of aerotechnogenic influence in conditions of an industrial city in the steppe zone of Ukraine. The objects of the studying were the cones of 30–40-year-old trees of P. аbies та P. pungens from eight different plantations situated along the whole city of Kryvyi Rih (126 km) and having various levels of technogenic pollution. We revealed that the maximal length of cone in two investigated species (108,4 and 88,7 mm respectively), width (28,6 and 24,7 mm); the highest seedling vigour (41,0 and 7,2 %), laboratory germination (54,2 and 20,6 %), seed mass (6,9 and 4,2 g), and length of germ (18,5 and 13,8 mm) are noted in the trees from Botanical Garden. The minimal values of all the same indices were ascertained for the trees growing near the metallurgical combine “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih”: length of cones – 92,3 and 73,9 mm; width of cones – 26,2 and 22,4 mm; as well as the lowest seedling vigour (2,4 and 1,4 %); laboratory germination (5,0 and 2,0 %), seed mass (5,4 and 3,4 g), and length of germ (12,6 and 5,4 mm). The general seed quantity for a cone of P. аbies та P. pungens, in all the plantation types, varied from 203,9 to 217,2 seeds and from 198,6 to 204,3 ones respectively. The least part of fertile seeds (11,5–13,3 %), and the biggest part of sterile (56,5–58,7 %) and underdeveloped (29,8–30,1 %) ones were noted in the plants of P. pungens directly exposed to emissions of industrial enterprises; for the plants of P. abies the same indices were 20,2–22,5 %; 51,5–52,6 % та 26,0–27,2 % respectively. Therefore, increasing level of techogenic pollution by air pollutants, which is observed during some last years, oppresses the generative sphere of species of genus Рісеа in conditions of the steppe zone of Ukraine.

For steppe cities, it is important to replenish the range with durable decorative species that grow quickly and form a three-dimensional crown. Such plants due to the shading of large areas create more comfortable living conditions for people in steppe cities. These species include London planetree (Platanus acerifolia Willd.), which sporadically began to be planted in some cities in the postwar period. The viability of P. acerifolia in the steppe is different. Since the biological peculiarities of this introduced species have been studied in various socio-economic problems in cities, we conducted a comparative analysis of the vital state and biometric parameters of P. acerifolia in the plantations of two cities of the steppe zone of Ukraine. We found out that P. acerifolia is widely used in landscaping of Kherson, while in Kryvyi Rih it is rare. In Kherson, the species is distributed near administrative buildings, schools, hospitals; it grows in parks, squares and yards of high-rise buildings, and in Kryvyi Rih only in one subdistrict and in the arboretum of the Kryvyi Rih Botanical Garden. The trees in Kherson are aged 38–60. The vital state is estimated as high and close to high – 77.8–96.3%. Older trees are 18.4–21.5 m of height and a maximum trunk diameter is 80.1–99.4 cm. Plants of all plantations in Kherson have dry branches, with a rate of 6.3–28.7%. In Kryvyi Rih, 28–42-year-old trees grow. In different plantations of P. acerifolia, the number of dry branches varies in the range of 0.3–44.5%, and the vital state – from 55.5 to 100% depending on the place of growth. The height of P. acerifolia trees is 6.2–20.3 m, and the trunk diameter is 12.2–68.7 cm. The study has proved that the differences in vital state and morphometric parameters of trees in the plantations of these cities depend on the age of trees, their planting density, lighting and other growing conditions. Trees in Kryvyi Rih are more significantly damaged by cold winds than in Kherson. The life form of P. acerifolia in the plantations of Kherson and Kryvyi Rih is almost everywhere a single-stemmed tree. This species is beginning to naturalize in the conditions of Kherson. Several plants of self-seeding origin were found during the research studies. Restoration of plants with young sprouts produced by stumps after cutting the plant trunks in Kherson was also noticed. The leaf apparatus of plants during the growing season is practically not damaged by diseases and pests and no slimy stains are formed on the leaves. We determined that P. acerifolia is a promising species for wider use in landscaping of the cities of the Black Sea coast and settlements of the Right-Bank Steppe, but in the latter case requires successful selection of exhibition sites for successful growth. These, first of all, should be cozy places protected from the effects of cold winds in winter and dry winds in spring and summer.

The article presents the results of studying the diversity of pear rootstock forms in terms of yield and seed productivity. The research was carried out at the experimental sites of the Orenburg Experimental Station of Horticulture and Viticulture of AllRussian Horticultural Institute for Breeding, Agrotechnology and Nursery and the Botanical Garden of the Orenburg State University in 2017-2019, in typical soil and climatic conditions of the Orenburg city. The purpose of the study is to identify pear rootstock forms characterized by high yield and stable seed productivity for use in the future as a seed rootstock. During the research, 15 pear accessions were studied; the planting scheme was 6x4 m. As a result of research, it was found that the rootstock form Temno-zelenaya is characterized by a high yield (40 kg/tree). High seed productivity of more than 6 seeds in one fruit was observed in samples: Vernaya (6.0-6.5 pcs.), SK-1, SK-3 (6.1-7.8 pcs.), SK-2 (7.0-7.5 pcs.), Chang Bai Li (7.4-7.7 pcs.), Semennaya 214 (7.5-7.8 pcs.). It was revealed that the Xiao he Bai Li variety is characterized by the maximum weight of 1000 seeds (65.2 g). Analysis of accessions by seed yield established that a consistently high yield is observed in the varieties Chang Bai Li (2.5-4.2 %), Vernaya (3.96-4.18 %) and forms SK-1 (2.0-3.25%), SK-2 (2.25-2.75 %), SK-3 (1.43-4.0 %). Pear rootstock forms Chang Bai Li, Vernaya, Semennaya 214, SK-1, SK-2, SK-3 were identifi ed, which can be recommended for production testing as seed pear rootstocks for the conditions of the steppe zone of the Southern Urals.

This study analyzes the leverage policies of the family and non-family firms of eight East Asian Economies (Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Taiwan) by using combined data of 690 family and non-family firms with 3,224 firm–years over the period 2006–2010. This study has used an ordinary least squares (OLS) regression for analyzing the data for the first question, while for the second question, logit regression has been used as the dependent variable (a binary variable). Prior research on family and non-family firms has revealed that family firms issue less (high) debt than non-family firms. Our analysis on a sample of East Asian Economies discloses that family firms have significantly different leverage levels than non-family firms, but their signs are not consistent. On the contrary, when the owner works as CEO/Chairman or member of the Board of Directors, then the family firms issue less debt than the non-family firms. Besides that, this study adds a new question that has not been addressed in the prior studies. The new question has focused on the speed of leverage adjustment. It is found that family firms and non-family firms regarding their debt maturity structure (short-term debt and long-term debt), the speed of leverage adjustments, and their decision to issue securities (i.e., debt vs. equity) are not significantly different. This study concluded that though family firms have a strong influence on each economy, but in South-East Asian countries, leverage policies of the family firms are not much different than that of non-family firms.

The biomorphological analysis of the flora of eighteen ancient settlements of the Lower Dnipro as a potential "islands" of steppe biodiversity has been introducing. Based on the most commonly used linear systems of life forms by K. Ranquier and by V.M Golubev there have been presented the results of the analysis of biomorphs. In addition to the main biomorph, the following characteristics were taken into account: multiplicity of fruiting, main types of vegetation, type of underground shoots, type of aboveground shoots, type of root system. Domination in the general spectrum of life forms of the studied flora of herbaceous plants was determined (455 species or 86.8 % of the total number), among which perennials made up the majority (259 species or 49.4 %). The second and third groups are occupied by annuals (148 species or 28.2 % of the total) and biannuals (48 species or 9.2 % of the total), respectively. According to the multiplicity of fruiting, the participation of polycarpics (328 species; 62.6 %) is significant. However, it should be noted, that the high share of herbaceous monocarpics (196 species; 37.4 %) can be explained by the invasion of adventitious species from neighboring agricultural fields and existing settlements. By type of vegetation, summer-green species represent almost half of the total list of flora (231 species), while that of the group of summer and winter green plants was represented by 168 species or 32 %. By type of aboveground shoots, the predominance is given to semi-rosette species (276 species; 52.7 %), and by type of underground shoots - to caudex (201 species; 38.4 %) and plants without rhizomes (196; 37.4 %). Our study confirmed that biomorphological structure of the flora of ancient settlements are quite typical for the flora of the steppe zone and the flora of the Holarctic in general, as evidenced by the predominance in the respective spectra of perennial grasses, hemicryptophytes, polycarpics, plants with caudex type of underground shoots and rod type. Transformation of the zonal spectrum as a result of anthropogenic impact is manifested in a significant percentage of trees, annuals, monocarpics and species of rhizome structure.

In recent decades floral devices in a natural style has been becoming more common in gardening. In this connection there was a need for the introduction and study of the natural flora of plants in order to attract them to simulate the decorative and resistant plants. The article presents the results of studies of the effect of different light conditions on the habitat features and decorative biomorphological Hylotelephium triphyllum (Haw.) Holub (Crassulaceae DC.) when introduced in SE Donetsk Botanical Garden. This species is found naturally in the flora of Donbass, a decorative, but, according to the results of our analysis, is rarely used in green construction. Bioecological certification of this type has been done. It has been determined that the impact of site lighting conditions on the growth and development of H. triphyllum expressed in significantly smaller numbers of vegetative and generative shoots in the shaded areas. However, since the diameter of the plants does not change, more thickened planting in these areas is not recommended. The author found the dependence of the variation of the biometric data on the lighting conditions. In the study of seasonal dynamics of H. triphyllum the author revealed that the development of above-ground organs of his passes with a positive amount of average daily air temperatures. The growing season lasts an average of 225 days. Start of spring regrowth is observed in the second half of March - early April, flowering - in August - September, fruits - in September - October. Vegetation stops when temperature goes below zero. Illumination of this type of habitat affect the time of vegetation beginning, budding, flowering, fruit set and fruit-bearing. On the shaded areas due to the later start of budding and flowering the most decorative period of H. triphyllum is shorter by an average of 10 days. This type is recommended for creation of group planting, stony hills, dry streams, rock gardens, rockeries, mixborders, curbs, ornamental compositions in the coastal zone of ornamental ponds and fountains in the steppe zone in areas with different light conditions, taking into account the above factors.
