More than 5 million people around the world die every year from severe injuries and their complications, among which massive blood loss is in the first place. The introduction of practical exercises for training in stopping massive bleeding using simulators and modern means will not only improve the quality of care at the prehospital and early hospital stages, but also significantly improve the process of all simulation training.

The article highlights the main steps in the formation of compulsory licensing mechanism before the establishment of the World Trade Organization, and analyzes the main provisions of this mechanism implementation under the TRIPS Agreement and the Doha Declaration. Based on the analysis of examples from different regions of the world, the article determines the main advantages of using compulsory licensing with regard to expand of access to medicines, possible impact on quality of the medicinal products being produced and the investment attractiveness of the countries applying this mechanism are assessed. The purpose of this article is to analyze the main approaches to the implementation of compulsory licensing in order to determine the most effective strategy for using this mechanism in the Russian Federation in order to expand the availability of drug therapy for the treatment of life-threatening diseases. Based on the impact of compulsory licensing implementation, the author concludes that it does not correspond to the objectives of the Russian pharmaceutical industry development identified as a priority by Russian Government. Despite a possibility of using compulsory licensing under regulation of many countries, this mechanism is implemented rarely. A possibility of issuing a compulsory licensing is a strong argument in price negotiations with producers. According to the authors position, implementation of compulsory licensing has to be preceded by cost containment mechanism, primarily based on negotiations with producers.

A study was conducted among 76 students who passed the Olympiad competitions on practical medical skills in an innovative remote format. The data obtained indicate the effectiveness of distance simulation training, which was evaluated by students answering test questions before and after passing the competition task, as well as by evaluating the actions of students during the remote passage of the simulation scenario. The proposed method of remote simulation allowed to increase the quality of knowledge of certain issues of emergency medical care.

There is no family that did not experience distressful moments of cry and fussiness of the infant in the first 3 months of the baby’s life. The cries of the infant in the first months of life are the most common reason for contacting health workers around the world. As a result of the analysis of the child’s behavior and numerous discussions, the main conclusion has been made that crying can be considered an attempt to attract attention and receive care from others (parents), and then it is a reflection of the baby’s temperament. But crying can be a signal of real discomfort, pain, illness. Differential diagnosis is based on understanding and identifying clinical nuances, and the correct diagnosis determines the quality of care.

The aim of this study was to explore the impact of quality of care (QoC) on patients’ quality of life (QoL). In a cross-sectional study, two domains of QoC and the World Health Organization Quality of Life-Bref questionnaire were combined to collect data from 1,059 pre-discharge patients in four accredited hospitals (ACCHs) and four non-accredited hospitals (NACCHs) in Saudi Arabia. Health and well-being are often restricted to the characterization of sensory qualities in certain settings such as unrestricted access to healthcare, effective treatment, and social welfare. The patients admitted to tertiary health care facilities are generally able to present themselves with a holistic approach as to how they experience the impact of health policy. The statistical results indicated that patients reported a very limited correlation between QoC and QoL in both settings. The model established a positive, but ultimately weak and insignificant, association between QoC (access and effective treatment) and QoL ( r = 0.349, P = 0.000; r = 0.161, P = 0.000, respectively). Even though the two settings are theoretically different in terms of being able to conceptualize, adopt, and implement QoC, the outcomes from both settings demonstrated insignificant relationships with QoL as the results were quite similar. Though modern medicine has substantially improved QoL around the world, this paper proposes that health accreditation has a very limited impact on improving QoL. This paper raises awareness of this topic with multiple healthcare professionals who are interested in correlating QoC and QoL. Hopefully, it will stimulate further research from other professional groups that have new and different perspectives. Addressing a transitional health care system that is in the process of endorsing accreditation, investigating the experience of tertiary cases, and analyzing deviated data may limit the generalization of this study. Global interest in applying public health policy underlines the impact of such process on patients’ outcomes. As QoC accreditation does not automatically produce improved QoL outcomes, the proposed study encourages further investigation of the value of health accreditation on personal and social well-being.

The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibitory power of citronella extract (Cymbopogon nardus) on the growth of Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. The study was conducted with experimental methods with the posttest design only group design controls conducted at the Microbiology Lab at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Prima Indonesia and the Pharmacy and Toxicology Lab at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of North Sumatra. The results showed that lemongrass leaf extract had a inhibitory effect on the growth of Propionibacterium acnes bacteria with various concentrations of 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100%. The higher the concentration of fragrant lemongrass extract, the better the inhibition power.
