There are special nutritional requirements in pregnancy, in which the intake of nutrients exerts its action both on the woman and the conception product. Therefore, the balance and diversity are the key of a proper nutrition during the pregnancy. Combining food categories is the best way to ensure nutritional balance during pregnancy period. A market research was performed on a representative sample at national level of 120 persons, in order to identify the nutritional status of pregnant women in this group. The market research highlighted the diet structure of the studied group, the categories of foods consumed weekly by the group members, as well as their frequency of consumption. The results of the study indicated a varied diet of pregnant women, but the frequency of consumption should be reviewed for certain food categories, thus: increased for: milk and dairy products, fish, oily fruits; lower, in fatty foods and salt.

A hygienic assessment of the eating habits of younger schoolchildren of Smolensk was carried out. A survey of 307 schoolchildren of 3–4 grades with various parameters of physical development in the field of nutrition and lifestyle was carried out. The respondents’ diet showed: insufficient and irregular consumption of food – sources of animal protein (meat, milk and dairy products, fish), lack of vegetables, popularity of fast-food products, sweets and sweet carbonated drinks. The violations in the diet and the level of motor activity are most pronounced in the group of children with overweight and obesity. The results confirm the need to develop preventive measures aimed at developing a healthy eating culture among schoolchildren.

Introduction: Women’s football is becoming more and more popular in recent years. Proper diet is a very important part of the training cycle in girls practicing football.Aim of the study: The purpose of the study is the evaluation of selected aspects of the diet and nutritional status of girls professionally involved in football.Materials and methods: A survey was conducted in 2013 among 12 girls involved in practicing football. The methods used to assess the diet were divided into quantitative and qualitative ones. The questionnaire concerned the eating habits (the number, type and times of daily meals) and the frequency of the consumption of selected groups of food products. The assessment of physical development (as an indicator of nutritional status) was carried out on the basis of quantifying and comparing research results of anthropometric characteristics. With the help of Statistica 6.0, the influence of the period of training or competition on nutritional status was analyzed.Results: The observed energy value of food rations was not high enough to fully cover the daily needs for the studied group of athletes. The players often ate too few meals throughout the day and their meals were eaten irregularly. What is more, an insufficient intake of milk, dairy products, fruit, vegetables was revealed. Most respondents might be characterized by underweight (50%), which is a worrying phenomenon. The abnormal proportion of energy from different nutrients was also observed. The energy content of fat origin was greater than 35% and exceeded the standard, and from carbohydrates less than 50%. Only the percentage of energy from proteins referred to the normal range. At various times of sports activities these important indicators of nutrition did not differ.Conclusions: The results of this study indicate the validity of nutritional education for athletes.

Abstract Background Eating habits of childbearing age women are an important public health determinant. The inappropriate dietary pattern of women in reproductive age leads to deviations in their nutritional status with possible adverse health consequences for them and their offspring. Both malnutrition and over nutrition can adversely affect reproductive abilities of women as well as the course and outcome of a possible pregnancy. Methods We conducted a cross-sectional study on dietary habits of 107 women, aged 19 to 42 years, in Varna, Bulgaria between March-December 2019. Exclusion criteria were pregnancy and lactation. A questionnaire was applied composed of questions on diet, dietary pattern, food frequency consumption, and the respondents' physical activity. The results were compared with the National Food Based Dietary Recommendations for Adults in Bulgaria. Data was statistically analysed with SPSS version 19. Results The average age of participants was 25.65 ± 7.48 years. 22.4% of the surveyed women followed no particular diet. 35.5% and 30.8% of the respondents had daily consumption of milk and dairy products respectively. Meat consumption 3-4 times a week was reported by 29.9% of the respondents. Only 1/4 of the respondents consumed fish each week. The relative share of women who did not consume fish was 10.3%. Daily consumption of fruits and vegetables was 42.1% and 57% respectively. Conclusions The majority of the surveyed women does not follow the National recommendations for consumption frequency of milk, dairy products, meat, fish, fruits and vegetables. Respondents who do not consume fish, meat or milk and dairy products are at risk of deficiencies of both micronutrients and macronutrients. It's necessary to raise awareness about healthy eating and associated health risks. Key messages Nutrition of women of childbearing age is an important factor affecting public health. Inadequate dietary habits before conception raises the risk for the course and outcome of pregnancy with consequences for offspring health.

Despite the fact that the dairy industry has an important position in the food industry (with an 18% share in its total production and sales), dairy businesses are currently struggling with low consumption of milk and dairy products. According to most researchers, the low consumption of milk and dairy products is mainly due to poor eating habits and, last but not least, insufficient promotion of these products. There is also an opportunity for private labels, which are recently on the rise, for which milk and dairy products are the most commonly purchased category of food. This paper aimed to find out how Slovak millennials perceive private labels, in which categories they buy them, what motivates them and on the contrary, discourages them from the purchase, etc. As the main research method, there was chosen the method of anonymous questionnaire survey involving 549 respondents from all over Slovakia; which was subsequently supplemented with a blind test. The submitted results of research declared that our goals were fulfilled and the following conclusions can be stated: Slovak millennials buy private labels in particular in the category of milk and dairy products, perceive private labels as an adequate alternative to their purchase and when purchasing milk and dairy products, they are mostly influenced by recommendations of family and friends and the tasting.

It was established that 77,72 ± 1,38 % of students have normal nutritional status, 13,50 ± 2,57 %– inadequate nutritional status, and of 8,78 ± 2,70 % – redundant power status. A significant part of the diets account for bakery and confectionery products, at the same time revealed a low consumption of such basic foods as milk and dairy products, meat, fish. The energy value of the diets of the students were below the physiological norms by reducing the income of protein and carbohydrates. Students are also experiencing a shortage of virtually all vitamins and most minerals. It was established that the quality of life of students with different nutritional status differs, girls have reduced quality of life when excess nutritional status, in boys – while insufficient.

AbstractThe latest National Family Health Survey conducted in 2015–16 (NFHS-4) showed that malnutrition and anaemia still pose huge health challenges in India. Data on 651,642 adult non-pregnant women aged 15–49 years were taken from the survey to study the nutritional and anaemia statuses of adult women by Indian zone and state. The relationships of these two variables with the women’s urban/rural place of residence, education level, religion and eating habits, and wealth index of the family, were assessed. Body Mass Index (BMI) and haemoglobin level were used to assess nutritional status and level of anaemia, respectively. The results show that in 2015–16 in India the percentages of underweight and obese/overweight people were 22.4% and 18.4%, respectively. The percentages of undernutrition and overnutrition were more or less same. The percentage of underweight people was higher in the middle belt region of India. Zones with high levels of overweight or obesity were concentrated in the West, North and South zones. A comparison of the two national-level data sets, i.e. NFHS-4 and NFHS-3, showed that the prevalences of undernutrition and anaemia reduced by 13 and 5 percentage points, respectively, from NFHS-3 to NFHS 4, i.e. over the 10-year period from 2004–05 to 2015–16, whereas overnutrition increased by 4 percentage points during this period. Analysis of possible socio-demographic factors and eating habits thought to influence underweight, obesity and anaemia revealed substantive causal relations. More specifically, education and eating habit were found to influence underweight, overweight or obesity and anaemia significantly. The nutritional status of a woman was also found to depend on household income.
