Our ancient seers have given importance to Shirah (head) as it is part of the body where life along with sense faculties resides. All the sense organs and the channels carrying the sensory and vital impulses from the Shir (head) are like the rays of the sun. It is necessary to care for Urdhvajatru. In Ayurveda classics mentioned the concept of Pathya (wholesome) and Apathaya (unwholesome) as a part of the treatment of the diseases also a part of regime of healthy living. A person needs to follow a healthy diet and regimen so as to prevent any anomalies in life or to maintain good health. Shalakya Tantra has mentioned proper diet to take in particular disease which is necessary to enhance the effect of treatment and prevent the disease and also useful procedures which are part of Dinacharya to maintain routine health. The aim is to evaluate the role of Pathya- Apathya and dietary regimen mentioned in Shalakya Tantra to prevent the supraclavicular disease. Relevant Ayurveda and modern literature, available information on internet etc, were searched. The dietary advice and various Dinacharya modalities gives nourishment to the supra clavicular region and cures ailments of related and also provides preventive and curative benefits.

We are in technical era where there is more of sedentary life style and stress along with this urbanization is affecting our quality of food and health. This is leading to many lifestyle disorders and hormonal imbalances in our body. Hypothyroidism one among the endocrinal disorder. Thyroid is an endocrinal gland secrets T3 and T4 hormones regulated by TSH which is secreted by Pituitary gland. These hormones have two major effects on the body, 1) To increase the overall metabolic rate in the body 2) To stimulate growth in children. Hypothyroidism is common health issue in India. The highest prevalence of hypothyroidism (13.1%) is noted in people aged 46-54yrs old. With people aged 18-35 yrs being less affected (7.5%). To prevent these hazards Panchakarma is beneficiary to maintain metabolic rate. Here an attempt is made to diagnose hypothyroidism in the light of Ayurveda and management guidelines through Panchakarma.

Electron microscopy of the cells of the characean alga Nitella flexilis revealed the presence of numerous spherical inclusions which morphologically resemble plant microbodies. The structures have a dense granular matrix and are bounded by a single membrane. Many of the microbodies contain very electron-dense nucleoids that were shown to be alpha-amylase sensitive. In cells of the young apex, microbodies are the most abundant cellular organelle and are intimately associated with dilated cisternae of the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi complexes, and with large osmiophilic lipid bodies. Although the microbody population appears reduced in mature branchlet cells and internode cells of the main axis, they exhibit a characteristic and frequent association with the chloroplasts. Turnover of microbodies involves some autolytic degradation of the body matrix until complete digestion presumably occurs. Developmental changes of microbodies were monitored with the cytochemical localization of lysosomal aryl sulfatase and acid phosphatase activities. The current study is of interest since catalase, an enzyme marker of microbodies in a variety of tissues, could not be detected using both cytochemical and enzyme assay methods. The functional role of microbodies in Nitella cells is explored in relation to presently available information.

The assessment of the Spontaneous Motor Activity (SMA) of the life style (LS) is fundamental to establish the daily Physical Activity (PA) dose as therapy. The recent employment the accelerometer (AiperMotion 440 PC –Aipermon GmBH – Germany), can immediately distinguish “active” from “sedentary” subjects providing a larger adhesion to the exercise program. The study aims to verify the role of the accelerometer. 28 obese-hypertensive were evaluated either by the questionnaire or by the accelerometer. A larger sedentary LS in the population investigated was found by the accelerometer respect of questionnaire. After three months of regular physical exercise, the body compositions parameters, investigated principally, resulted to be improved. The accelerometer determines a real and objective visualization of the LS expressed as PAL resulting on a direct early improvement of the parameters strongly related with the cardiovascular risk. The results support the educational role of the employ of the accelerometer.

Seasons (Ritus) are the inherent global earth clock and the rhythm of the world. As per Ayurveda year is divided into six seasons, in which three season Shishira, Vasanta and Greeshma are known as Aadanakala . Other three seasons Varsha, Sharad and Hemanta are said to be Visargakala. In Visarga kala, as the Sun is located in southwards position, its heat reduces or slows down due to the effect of time and its position with respect to the Earth, wind, cloud and rain. The power of the Moon is predominant. Rainwater decreases the heating effect of nature. All of these lead to the predominance of non- dryunctuous, amla (sour), lavana (salty), and madhura (sweet) rasa respectively and step by step rise of body strength in human beings during these three seasons. Out of all the Ritus, Hemanta Ritu is a unique Ritu in terms of having uttam bala. Falling in Dakshinayana, moon is very powerful than sun, Madhur rasa is predominant in this Ritu, so the strength (Bala) of person enhances during this period. This article focuses to disclose thorough review of literature of Hemant ritucharya and its implication towards maintenance and enhancement of Uttam Bala. In Ayurveda oja, veerya, prana, kapha etc terms are considered as synonyms of Bala. Besides prakruti(genetic), sara(physiological) and aahar(diet), kala (season) is one of the prime factors to govern the Bala of the person. Bala stands for the strength of the body in terms of physical, mental, immunological and resistance to the body, the word Bala is being used in different contexts to denote various aspects accordingly. Keywords: Visarga kala, Hemant ritu, Bala

Ayurveda is not only a science of life but also a spiritual science. This branch of science deals with the proper life style and dietary advice by Ayurveda scholars. Among them vegetables and fruits are used to eradicate the diseases and helps to maintain the health of the person. Since Vedic period the fruits are used as Prasadam as well as in the form of Bhoga (Offering food), Upavasa (Fasting) purposes. The fruits are not only cure the diseases but also helps the mind in relaxed state. As per Ayurveda the fruits are classified on the basis of Rasa (Taste). For example sour fruit, sweet fruit, bitter fruit etc. The fruits are man source for fibers, multivitamins and minerals, which helps to repair the damaged cells.  Here an attempt is made to bring the scattered information of various types of fruits from the classical sources and their pharmacological action on the body, are dealt elaborately. Further scope of the study is to cultivate such fruits in the classical manner and make available seasonally to the market in an affordable price.

Vitamin D performs a lot of important functions in the body, and its deficiency is just as harmful as the excess. From its precious properties, we draw primarily in the summer while staying in the sun, while in other seasons you should take care of a appropriate diet and implement vitamin D supplementation. The proper level of vitamin D in the human body results in proper bone mineralization, regulates the endocrine function of the pancreas, adrenal glands, thyroid gland and pituitary glands. It acts as an anti-proliferative factor of some tumor such as melanoma, breast, prostate, colon, and increases differentiation and inhibits apoptosis of keratinocytes, fibroblasts and skin melanocytes. It has an influence on the proper functioning of many systems and regulates the immune response.

This study traces the notion of the internal senses in three ancient authors, namely Nemesius, Plotinus and Galen. It begins with Nemesius, and then by going backward ends with Galen. The textual evidence investigated in this study shows clearly that Galen, after acknowledging the Platonic tripartite soul, locates the various dunameis of the soul in the brain. The “localization” theory of Galen plays a crucial role in paving the way for the foundation of the internal senses, which both Plotinus and Nemesius adapted. Just as with the external senses one can locate various sense-organs in different parts of the body, viz., touch, smell, sight etc., so too with the internal senses, thanks to Galen, one is able to locate them in various organs of the body. Thus philosophers are able to explain the role of all these different (internal) senses in their account of sense-perception.

Sirtuins (SIRTs), enzymes from the family of NAD+-dependent histone deacetylases, play an important role in the functioning of the body at the cellular level and participate in many biochemical processes. The multi-directionality of SIRTs encourages scientists to undertake research aimed at understanding the mechanisms of their action and the influence that SIRTs have on the organism. At the same time, new substances are constantly being sought that can modulate the action of SIRTs. Extensive research on the expression of SIRTs in various pathological conditions suggests that regulation of their activity may have positive results in supporting the treatment of certain metabolic, neurodegenerative or cancer diseases or this connected with oxidative stress. Due to such a wide spectrum of activity, SIRTs may also be a prognostic markers of selected pathological conditions and prove helpful in assessing their progression, especially by modulating their activity. The article presents and discusses the activating or inhibiting impact of individual SIRTs modulators. The review also gathered selected currently available information on the expression of SIRTs in individual disease cases as well as the biological role that SIRTs play in the human organism, also in connection with oxidative stress condition, taking into account the progress of knowledge about SIRTs over the years, with particular reference to the latest research results.
