Hemiplegia, or paralysis of one side of the body, is caused by injury or illness (for example, a stroke), and leads to other disabilities. People with hemiplegia are limited physically in their daily activities. This limitation affects their social well-being and thus can lead to depression. This paper provides a comprehensive literature review on hemiplegia in men. A single case study of a man with hemiplegia living in Hong Kong is also presented here. A critical discussion of the signs and symptoms of “male-type” depression and humanising attitudes towards men with hemiplegia follows. Critical areas in rehabilitation, social support, and developing partnerships are also highlighted. This paper intends to facilitate better understanding by health and social care providers of the needs of men with hemiplegia. Implications for clinical practice and research are likewise addressed. Further studies using multiple case studies are recommended to ensure a comprehensive understanding of hemiplegia in men.

Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is defined as a cessation of ovarian function before the age of 40 years. It is associated with hypoestrogenism and loss of residual follicles, both of which lead to menstrual abnormalities, pregnancy failures, and decreased health-related quality of life. The prevalence of POI is estimated at 1% in the general population. The risk of premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) before the age of 40 years is 1 %. The aetiopathology of premature ovarian insufficiency in the majority of cases is unknown and is termed as spontaneous or idiopathic POI. This is a case with signs and symptoms of POI which was developed after the administration of GnRH agonist drugs as a part of treatment of endometriosis. In this single case study, a female of 33 years having complaints of absence of periods since 6 months treated with Ayurveda treatment with pre and post evaluation. The symptoms of secondary amenorrhoea, hot flashes, vaginal dryness and mood swings were relieved after Ayurveda medications and procedures.

Atlanto-axial rotatory subluxation is a rare, controversial and frequently misdiagnosed condition occurring primarily in children. A single case study design was used to evaluate the effectiveness of cervical stabilisation training and correction of muscle imbalance, following reduction of this condition, in a nine-year-old boy. The study was conducted over a six-week period during which the subject maintained a daily diary to record his symptoms. The programme consisted of various muscle relaxation and lengthening techniques, endurance training of the deep cervical flexors and lower scapular stabilisers, as well as postural re-education. No treatment was directed at the articular component. The patients signs and symptoms were greatly reduced during the study period. This study supports the importance of correcting the muscle dysfunction component in cervicogenic pain sufferers.

Introduction: Peripheral neuropathy (PN) is the most common neurological condition seen in people living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and has been estimated to be present in up to 30% of people with AIDS. Prevalence may be increasing as it appears to be related to the use of antiretroviral therapy in many cases, particularly medication containing stavudine. It is often characterised by burning and numbness in the feet. It can interfere severely with function and sufferers resort to a large number of strategies in an attempt to reduce pain.Case presentation: A 50-year-old man presented with severe PN and showed symptoms of extreme weakness and sensitivity of both lower limbs. His symptoms gradually worsened over a period of 18 months to such an extent that he was unable to walk. Medication had no effect on his pain or related symptoms. The authors tested the use of a Vibromat clinical vibrator to treat his PN symptoms. The patient was treated using the same modality for five evenly spaced (monthly) sessions.Outcome: The patient showed marked improvement in pain, numbness and pins and needles symptoms after the first session. He was able to walk a short distance with assistance. Treatment was continued and after the third session he was able to walk unaided. Symptom relief was maintained for 4 months. Conclusion: This is the first case demonstrating the use of the Vibromat in successfully treating the signs and symptoms of PN. This is important for clinicians who manage patients with HIV-related PN and pain.

Dandruff is a common scalp ailment that causes flaking of the skin. It is neither communicable nor dangerous. It can, however, be humiliating and difficult to treat. Darunaka is a Kapalagataroga, but Acharya Sushruta described it as a Kshudraroga due to the vitiation of Vata and Kapha Doshas, with symptoms such as Kandu (itching on the scalp), Keshachyuti (hair loss), Swapa (abnormalities of touch sensation on the scalp), Rookshata (roughness or dryness of the scalp), and Twaksphutana (breaking or cracking of the scalp skin). Seborrheic Dermatitis is an irri- tative scalp illness characterized by the shedding of dead tissue from the scalp, as well as an itchy sensation. Seb- orrheic Dermatitis affects roughly 4% of the population, while dandruff (mild seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp) affects about half of all adults, according to studies. It can begin at any point after puberty and is more common in men. It might lead to social and self-esteem issues. A 25-year-old male patient from Jodhpur came to OPD of Panchakarma, with a chief complaint of Shira Kandu (itching on the scalp), Rukshata (dryness on the scalp), Twak- sphutana (cracks in the skin) and Keshachyuti (hair fall). In this case, Ayurvedic formulations and Panchakarma therapy gave the patient till 30 days. The improvement provided by the therapy was assessed based on signs and symptoms before and after the treatment, The therapy's effectiveness was determined by comparing signs and symp- toms before and after treatment. For evaluating signs and symptoms, a unique scoring scheme was created. Themedicine was proven to be both safe and effective at treating signs and symptoms as well as enhancing the general health of the scalp.
