The study investigated the relationship between psychological contract and job satisfaction of staff of Accra Technical University. A descriptive survey design was used with the target population being both teaching and non-teaching staff of Accra Technical University. Purposive sampling technique was used to sample a total of 300 respondents .  A total of 270 responded to the questionnaires out of a target sample of 300 staff. The study revealed that, there was a relationship between perceived psychological contract and job satisfaction. Using linear regression analysis, the study showed that an increase in the overall fulfillment of obligations and promises (psychological contract) by both Teaching and Non-teaching staff would directly cause an increase in job satisfaction. Another key finding of the study was that, in general the staff perceived they fulfilled their promises and obligations to a greater extent to the university, while the university fulfilled its promises and obligations  to a lesser extent, which meant there was inverse relation between what the staff offered to the university and what the university offered and this caused a breach of psychological contract which in turn bred job dissatisfaction. This study then recommends that management  revised its recruitment policy and emphasize on flexibility in terms of career development opportunities and endeavor to fulfill their promises and obligations (psychological contract).

Student Council is a representative structure through which students in a secondary school become involved in school affairs. The study set out to investigate student council participation in the management of discipline in public secondary schools in Teso North Sub-County in Busia County, Kenya. The study sought to establish: the influence of student council participation in the formulation of rules and regulations on management of discipline, and the influence of student council involvement in formulating punishment on the management of discipline. The target population was 7379 students and 189 teachers and 27 principals from 27 schools. The research employed descriptive survey design using a random sample of 365 students, 18 teachers and 9 principals. This sample size was determined using Krejcie and Morgan’s table of sample determination and using coefficient variation of 30% and a standard error of 2% through stratified simple random sampling technique. The data was collected using a selfadministered questionnaire. The study established that schools involved students in designing punishment but students never took punishment positively and that common disciplinary problems experienced in schools was due to lack of students involvement. It was further established that students were haphazardly involved in the school management of students’ discipline. Thus the study recommends schools to empower students’ council in which students’ views and ideas are heard and discussed; Ministry of education to organize and offer seminars where school heads are well sensitized on involving students in school management.

The focus of this research paper is on the causes and effects of Youth Restiveness and Militancy in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria, as perceived by the Niger Delta University undergraduates in Bayelsa State of Nigeria: Implication for counselling. The design adopted for the study is the descriptive survey design. One thousand Six hundred and ninety (1690) undergraduate students of Niger Delta University formed the population of the study. While the sample size comprised 338 undergraduates selected through random sampling technique from the education faculty of the university. The researchers developed the Youth Restiveness and Militancy (YRM) Questionnaire with 21 items and used it for the study. Three research questions and two hypotheses were formulated for this study. For the two hypotheses, there were no significant differences on the basis of gender in the perceived factors responsible for youth restiveness and militancy in the Niger Delta Region and the perceived causes of youth restiveness and militancy on religion issues. The major issues shown on the results include slow or casual approach of government, corruption, unemployment, poverty and bad governance which are causal issues of the cankerworms. Furthermore, from the results, there were evidence that youth restiveness and militancy may culminate in economic stagnation, fear and suspicions, political instability, terrorism, et-cetera. Remediations to the canker worms include creation of employment for the youths, provision of counselling services in schools and communities, poverty eradication by government and so on. The following recommendations were made as fallouts from the study which included peace education at all levels of education, job creation for all youths and the provision of counselling services in the universities, secondary schools and the communities.

Researcher’s designed questionnaire with psychometric properties of content validity of 0.61 and a reliability index of 0.87 was used to elicit the needed data from the respondents. A multistage sampling technique was used to sample 384 respondents. The research questions and hypotheses were analyzed using mean score and t-test. The finding revealed that all the community members perceive educating them as a welcome development that would help in breeding youth that is needed in an electoral process. Herzberg’s Two-Factor and the expectancy theories guided the study. The study employed descriptive survey research design. The target population for the study were the pastoral and other church employees in all the 4 mainstream churches in Nakuru West Sub County. These churches have combined staff population of 188 staff comprising of the pastors, evangelists, secretaries, administrators, caretakers and other staffs recruited depending on the needs and capability of the churches. The study used the primary data where questionnaires were used to collect data after being subjected to Cronbach test for reliability and judgmental test for validity. The study conducted a piloting study, Data was analysed using SPSS version and will initially be analysed using descriptive statistics, and thereon, inferential statistics such Pearson product moment correlation and multiple linear regression analysis. Results was presented in the form of tables and figures. From the research findings, the study concluded that, the study found that factors including salary, benefits, organisational policies, supervision, working conditions and relationships. On the other hand, motivators such as achievement, recognition, promotion, responsibility and work itself promote motivation and consequently satisfaction. The study concludes that employer should demonstrate equal and fair employee handling mechanisms based on their performance evaluation.

Technology is relevant in achieving educational development. Exploring how best to pattern and incorporate educational technology to engender sustainability remains relevant. It is against this backdrop that this study examined the Prospect of online instructional delivery in sub-Saharan African Universities using Google Classrooms ascertained concerning usability and accessibility while examining impending challenges. This study adopted a descriptive survey design. The study population was undergraduates enrolled at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, a public institution owned by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the most soughed institution in terms of admission in the country. The target population was teacher trainees exposed to online instructional using Google Classrooms for 2018/2019 academic session. The study participants were purposively sampled; a total of 1933 participants. Data were gathered using a researcher designed questionnaire which was face and content validated. Three research questions were stated to examine accessibility, usability and challenges while the tested hypotheses were concerning prospects of Google Classroom for University of Ilorin undergraduates' learning across gender and departmental divides. Both descriptive statistics (Research Questions) and inferential statistics (Hypothesis) were employed in analysing data collected gathered. Significant findings revealed that Google Classroom holds prospects for innovative instructional approach for university undergraduates’ learning. However, there is a need to improve its level of accessibility to undergraduates to maximise its gains by making efforts to alleviate the challenges militating against smooth access to ensure sustainability in higher education in sub-Saharan Africa, apt in the current pandemic era.

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of computer based test (CBT) on the academic performance of B.S.c (Ed.) physics students at the University of Agriculture, Makurdi. The results of 100L students who wrote their examinations with paper-and-pencil test (PPT), from2011/2012 to 2013/2014 academic sessions and those that wrote with CBT from 2014/2015 to2015/2016 academic sessions were analyzed. The raw scores of students’ result were used for this research. The population of this study was six hundred and thirty nine (639) registered students in B.sc (Ed.) Physics, which is the total number of 100L students’ who registered and wrote their examinations from 2011/2012 to 2015/2016 academic sessions at the University of Agriculture, Makurdi (UAM). For the purpose of this study, the descriptive survey design was used. The purposive sampling technique was used for the selection of the sample from the population. The results were analyzed using the Students T-test. The findings of this research show that, there is no significant effect of CBT on the academic performance of B.sc (ED) Physics at the University of Agriculture, Makurdi.

The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of non-physical work environment on job satisfaction lecturer of the Faculty of Communication and Business at the University of Telkom Bandung. The independentvariable X of the study is non-physical work environment while the dependent variable Y is job satisfaction. The data are obtained by distributing questionnaires, sampling technique uses the saturation. The analytical method used is a simple linear regression analysis method.The research results prove that the non-physical work environment by 38.8% have influence on job satisfaction lecturer of the Faculty of Communication and Business, University of Telkom Bandung and theremaining 61.2% is influenced by other factors that are not observed in this study. In other words, there is a partial effect of non-physical work environment on permanent lecturers’ job satisfaction on the Faculty ofCommunication and Business, University of Telkom Bandung.Keywords: human resources, non-physical work environment, job satisfaction

Competence based curriculum have faced criticism from educationalist based on its tasking and resistivity to change. However, in Canada, Scotland and Finland its implementation has be stunning. The stakeholders in Kenya has raise concern about their preparedness coupled with criticism from section of the government complaining on lack of involvement of stakeholders. The objective of the study was to establish whether teachers’ attitude influences the implementation of the competence-based curriculum. Social constructivism theory was adopted. A descriptive survey design and correlation research design were adopted for the study. The target population of the study included 24 County support Officers (CSOs’), 52 headteachers, and 610 Grade 1 teachers. The sample size was 6 CSOs, 52 Headteachers, and 61 Grade 1 teachers. A saturated sampling technique was used to select all the 52 headteachers from 52 schools. Simple random sampling was used to select the schools and CSOs. A purposive sampling technique was used to select Grade 1 teachers in Kericho County. Data was collected using interview schedules, questionnaires, and an observation schedule. Quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics in the form of percentages, means, and standard deviation, while inferential statistics were correlated using Pearson product-moment correlation. Qualitative data were analysed thematically. The attitude of teachers had a positive impact on CBC implementation, with a correlation of 0.560 and a calculated value of 0.00 for the headteachers and 0.284 with a calculated value of 0.032 for Grade 1 teachers. The results of this study are important for the successful adoption of the competency-based program through the participation of education stakeholders.

Purpose This study aimed to investigate the factors that influence job satisfaction of academic librarians in university libraries in Edo and Delta states in Nigeria. Design/methodology/approach The study adopted a descriptive survey design using 88 academic librarians in the university libraries in the two states. Total enumeration sampling technique was used for this study. All 88 librarians in the federal, state and private university libraries in Édo and Delta states of Nigeria were considered appropriate for this study. The instrument used for data collection was self-structured questionnaire, and all 88 respondents in this study responded to the questionnaire. Findings Five factors capable of influencing job satisfaction of employees – work environment, remuneration, fairness, promotion and training – were expatiated upon to ascertain their influence on librarians’ job satisfaction. The result revealed that all the variables significantly influence librarians’ job satisfaction which serves as stimulus for employee’s productivity and delivery of quality services to clientele. Originality/value This research is the first to ascertain the factors that influences job satisfaction of academic librarians in university libraries in Edo and Delta states of Nigeria.
