Competition between state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and private mining companies are getting bigger and stronger, but state-owned holding companies such as MIND ID have decreased performance due to several factors such as business focus and small business scale. This should be supported by the optimization of resources and the transformation of the competence of each employee to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit. This study was conducted to examine the corporate entrepreneurship culture in three state owned mining companies (PT. ABC, PT. DEF, and PT. GHI) and compared with private mining companies (PT. XYZ, PT. OPS, and PT. RTU). This study uses two methods, Entrepreneurial Orientation Survey (EOS) and Entrepreneurial Leadership Questionnaire (ELQ). EOS is used to measure corporate entrepreneurship culture and ELQ to see entrepreneurial characteristics in expected leadership and actual conditions of its implementation. EOS results show that the corporate entrepreneurship culture of mining SOEs has advantages in Cross-Functionality and Support to New Ideas while private mining companies have significantly higher Speed and Focus dimensions than mining SOEs. The ELQ results show that mining SOEs have the type of leadership in entrepreneurship (Miner type) and the leadership type of private mining companies in Explorer has a higher score than mining SOEs. Mining SOEs are advised to increase the dimensions of corporate entrepreneurship, one of which is by providing scholarships for employees taking magister program and creating a competition program that supports future innovation also the companies should provide training on corporate entrepreneurship.

There is abundant literature about individual entrepreneurship (entrepreneurs) and about corporate entrepreneurship within organizations. But little is written about a related concept like Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) in small businesses, and also, about how to describe its role in their strategic formulation. The paper attempts to identify the main attributes of the EO concept and its determinants within small business context. EO consists of three components: Innovativeness, proactiveness, and risk-taking by strategic leaders in these firms. An innovative small business wilI not be an entrepreneurial if it does not take risks or is not sufficiently proactive towards competitors and environment. After describing the emergence of this concept, the paper shows the importance of the EO as a valid strategic orientation for small businesses when they re-think their strategic analyses with Opportunity-based and Resource-based views. Adopting such orientation seems to reflect a needed conciliation between other strategic orientations (market-, technology- and stakeholder orientations) and altogether blending of them. Finally, the paper concludes with proposing some implications for future research to deepen the study (conceptually and empirically) of the EO within small business context.

The COVID-19 pandemic will leave an enduring mark on North Carolina’s small business community. Using a phenomenological framework, we conducted a series of in-depth semi-structured interviews with small business owners about how they addressed the pandemic’s challenges. Four central themes emerged that illustrate the complexity and nuance of small business resiliency. Our data suggest that to survive and thrive, entrepreneurs had to: (1) be adaptable and willing to pivot, (2) have an entrepreneurial spirit, (3) leverage their social capital, and (4) have the knowledge and ability to apply for aid programs.

This research was conducted to describe the entrepreneurial leadership of SMEs Tofu "RDS" and description about the obstacles experienced by SMEs Tofu "RDS". This research uses descriptive qualitative research design that aims to obtain the information available at this time, and then attempt to describe, record and interpret the information. Data collection methods used were interviews, observation and documentation. This type of qualitative research is case study. The result of the research is the condition of entrepreneurial leadership from the leadership of SMEs Tofu "RDS" is generally good because he is able to motivate employees well, have a picture of the future effort, able to read opportunities well, actively seeking new ideas, persistent in running their business And barriers faced by SMEs Tofu "RDS" can be overcome well by the leadership of SMEs Tofu RDS.

Modern market demand requires a certainspec for broccoli, it cause farmers had tochange the way they do in their  business, so that their products are well received by the modern market. There fore, this study aims to determine the entrepreneurial orientation offarmersso it canmeet the demand ofbroccolito themodernmarket. Broccoli’s Farmer has a high entrepreneurial spirit, as seen from the orientation of farmers in view the future. Farmers see the modern market as an alternative market with a huge potential market in the future, so that the farmers do a variety of creative effort to make their business performance more efficiently so it can serve the  modern market better. The method usedinthisstudyis thecase studies method, theanalysis techniqueused isdescriptive qualitativeanalysis. Research shows that broccoli farmers as an entrepreneur has an unique characteristics and valuesin running their business. Broccoli farmes entrepreneurial orientation in Kecamatan Lembang emphasizes the creation of business innovation, always doing to do the improvement process of their supply chain product, namely with implementing strategies for business collaboration with other actors in the broccoli supply chain. They also always proactivein receivinga request from the modern market as an alternative market for their business, so their businesses can be more competitive and be able to runcontinuously.

The theoretical and empirical knowledge on corporate entrepreneurship (ce) has evolved in the research domain over the last 50 years, beginning very slowly and growing in importance in that time. Because of this evolution and expansion in CE research, the theoretical and empirical knowledge about CE and the entrepreneurial behavior on which it is based has progressed to a point where a greater understanding of the concept can be presented. Many of the elements essential to constructing a theoretically grounded understanding of the domains of CE have been identified. An examination of the field reveals that there are three research domains that have developed over the years: corporate venturing (either internal or external), strategic entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurial orientation. In examining the evolution of CE research across five decades, the focus of CE research has varied over the years. The very early research published in the 1970s focused more on how teams could establish entrepreneurial activities inside established organizations; however, this early research was sparse because CE was not widely acknowledged nor sought in existing organizations. The 1980s saw some research into entrepreneurial behavior inside established organizations that explained how such activity could simply not exist in the structure and operations of existing corporations. Opposed to that thinking, many more researchers demonstrated that the idea of corporate entrepreneurial activity could be conceived as a process of organizational renewal. In the 1990s, researchers began to develop more comprehensive examinations of CE that focused on re-energizing companies and therefore increasing its abilities to develop innovations. The first and second decades of the 21st century witnessed a more sophisticated refinement of research topics in CE. In addition to research specific to the development of the three main domains of CE (corporate venturing, entrepreneurial orientation, and strategic entrepreneurship), there has been research on more specific areas of interest in CE including the implementation of CE, management levels, the individual corporate entrepreneur, models and metrics of CE, a deeper examination of internal corporate ventures, the international domain, firm size, family firms, ethics, and corporate venture capital. These areas illustrate the developmental expansion of interest in CE across different domains. Even with the continued expansion in the research on CE, there is so much that is still not understood nor researched well enough to fully advance the theoretical and empirical knowledge on CE. With the growing climate of disruption through external antecedents such as COVID-19, the entrepreneurial behavior of individuals within organizations becomes paramount and warrants a deeper understanding. Newer research questions on CE are emerging and further theoretical exploration should be the work of ongoing scholarly efforts.

The main objective of this chapter is to analyze the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and competitive advantage on Portuguese exporting textiles small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Therefore, a quantitative methodological approach was used, conducting a descriptive, exploratory, and transversal empirical study, having applied a questionnaire to a sample of Portuguese SMEs, associated of the Portuguese textile association (ATP). The structural equations model was used for this purpose, using the partial least squares (PLS). Based on survey data from 247 firms, the empirical results indicate that 1) innovation have a positive and significant impact on differentiation, 2) proactivity and risk-taking does not have a positive and significant impact on differentiation, and 3) innovation, proactivity, and risk-taking does not have a positive and significant impact on cost leadership. This study shows that Portuguese textile SMEs seek to support and stimulate new ideas, experimentation, and creativity that surely result in new products, services, and processes.

Abstract Although a cumulative body of literature explains entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and firm performance, there remain differing views on the mechanisms underlying this relationship. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of EO on firm performance by considering the roles of dynamic capabilities (DC) and corporate entrepreneurship (CE). We propose that DC and CE mediate the relationship between EO and firm performance, and our empirical results support these propositions. This study fills a gap in the literature on the EO–performance relationship by considering the linkages among disposition, capabilities, and activities in the South Korean context.
