AbstractDespite harsh climate, agriculture on the northern margins of Russia still remains the backbone of food security. Historically, in both regions studied in this article – the Republic of Karelia and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) – agricultural activities as dairy farming and even cropping were well adapted to local conditions including traditional activities such as horse breeding typical for Yakutia. Using three different sources of information – official statistics, expert interviews, and field observations – allowed us to draw a conclusion that there are both similarities and differences in agricultural development and land use of these two studied regions. The differences arise from agro-climate conditions, settlement history, specialization, and spatial pattern of economy. In both regions, farming is concentrated within the areas with most suitable natural conditions. Yet, even there, agricultural land use is shrinking, especially in Karelia. Both regions are prone to being affected by seasonality, but vary in the degree of its influence. Geographical location plays special role, and weaknesses caused by remoteness to some extent become advantage as in Yakutia. Proximity effect is controversial. In Karelia, impact of neighboring Finland is insignificant compared with the nearby second Russian city – Saint Petersburg.

Public concern about the environmental impact of economic activities has significantly increased around the globe in recent years. Within the scope of unlawful acts, environmental delicts are among the most serious ones in terms of environmental impact, the consequences of which directly affect the quality and development of agriculture as the main branch of economic activity. The issue of environmental protection and liability can be approached from different perspectives, and the focus of the present research will be on the analysis of environmental delicts committed by legal entities, taking into consideration the importance and role of these entities in agriculture. In addition to general assumptions on legal regulation of the liability of legal entities, the authors also presented the results of research on legal entities reported, charged, and convicted for environmental delicts in the Republic of Serbia in the period from 2010 to 2017, with a special emphasis on the analysis of results obtained in the abovementioned research areas for the territory of AP Vojvodina.

Tourism is traditionally a priority sphere of Crimean economy development. This work is aimed to carry out a factor analysis of tourism development indicators of in coastal destinations in the Republic of Crimea and to identify the most significant parameters having a significant influence on the formation of the tourist flow. This research is relevant because the financial and economic crisis, the decline in foreign investment volumes and prolongation of sanctions force to look for new approaches to the development of the state economy and its separate territories. Estimation of development prospects of international tourism allowed to establish that tourism - one of the most dynamic activities of the global economy. The authors give results of analysis of development trends of Crimean tourism. They show that tourism, despite the negative dynamics of individual indicators of financial and economic activity of the sanatorium and tourism enterprises in 2014, has great potential and is a priority activity of the Crimean economy. The authors propose to consider a destination as the ecological and economic system that prove the possibility of engaging tourist flows in the recreational area without compromising the sustainability of the natural environment. The indicators of tourism development in Crimea destinations are analyzed. They are grouped into two blocks - resulting and factor. The results of factor analysis revealed a high level of correlation between natural resources of destinations and the viability of the tourist business in the Republic of Crimea. It is also showed a high level of coherence between the result indicator "number of organized tourists" and the indicator "number of sites of cultural heritage". Conclusions of previously conducted market research of tourist preferences are confirmed. Vacationers visit the Crimea with one dominant purpose (mainly beach vacation and treatment), and other possibilities of destinations are secondary or have no role in their preferences.

The soils formed on limestones and dolomites in different locations in the Republic of Macedonia have been ex-amined. These soils differ in their genesis, evolution and properties from soils formed on other substrates and have a number of specificities, whereby all their properties largely depend on the parent material. They occupy much of the soil cover of the Republic of Macedonia. The field examinations were carried out according to the generally accepted method in our country [1, 2]. Most of them are under high mountainous pastures, some plots are under meadows and fields. They have great importance for the faster development of some industries in the country, forestry, tourism, as well as the agricultural development in the hilly and mountainous underdeveloped areas in our country.

The article focuses on the legal aspects underlying protection and rational use of lands in the Republic of Tajikistan. Subject to analysis are ways of perfection of legal instruments with a view to protection and rational use of lands. The author describes the dehkan (farmer) state of affairs as characterized by the existence of small plots of land which were inefficient in terms of their use and economy. In order to do away with such a situation the legislators of the Republic of Tajikistan suggested to set the minimum size of land plots to be allocated for agricultural purposes. Sanction alone would not prevent irrational land use and adverse affects thereof. For, the objective of rational use and protection of land can be achieved through economic incentives of farmersstakeholders. Particularly, to get the land users interested in exploitation of unused land and make them willing to invest into agricultural development of said lands they should be given these plots and be freed from taxes for the period of first few years.

In this article, aspects relating to the management of the maintenance function within a production system are discussed. Inordinate disparities undermining the execution of the maintenance function - as a result of inter-regional differences regarding the availability of maintenance skills - are identified on the basis of empirical evidence and with the aid of inferential statistics. The cause/effect impact that such disparities have on the maintenance of equipment in a plant are singled out, and the reasons therefore discussed, while the comparative, inter-regional differences referred to stem from the tenets of industrial centralization versus industrial decentralization. The locales affected are the Johannesburg economic region as opposed to the economic growth point of Babelegi, in the Republic of Bophuthatswana. In conclusion, certain observations and recommendations are postulated with a view to highlighting the impact of locational differences on both the efficiency and effectiveness with which the maintenance function can be executed.
