Objective: comparative analysis of body composition indicators obtained by two methods of data registration — anthropometry and bioimpedance measurement, and analysis of the distribution of subcutaneous fat on the body of football players in accordance with the playing role.Materials and methods: аnthropometric measurements and bioimpedance studies of body composition were carried out in 24 football players of the Moscow football club of the second division professional football league. The average age of the athletes was 24.16 ± 0.87 years.Results: the survey involved 24 football players of the Moscow football club of the professional football league of the second division. The average age of the players was 24.16 ± 0.87 years. When determining the composition of the body using two methods, it was found that the calculation method and the bioimpedance method give different results. On average, the calculation method shows higher indicators of body fat mass (%FBM = 18.9 ± 1.04) than the bioimpedance method (%FBM = 14.7 ± 0.76), the differences are significant (p < 0.05). Moreover, differences in muscle mass are insignificant — in terms of BIA %SMM = 47.06 ± 0.59, according to the calculation method %SMM = 47.0 ± 0.63 (the differences are unreliable, p > 0.05). There were no differences in the component composition of the body of football players depending on the game role. The topography of subcutaneous fat on the body of athletes-football players has certain patterns, but does not depend on the playing role of athletes.Conclusion: the analysis revealed differences in the body composition data of football players obtained using two registration methods. The data of the study can serve as model criteria for body composition and the distribution of subcutaneous fat on the body of athletes for selection in football activities and for comparative characterization and discussion of the results of similar studies.

The purpose of the first study was to validate two newly proposed core stability tests; Prone Plank test (PPT) and Closed Kinetic Chain test (CCT), for evaluating the strength of the body core. Subsequently, these tests were employed in a longitudinal prospective study implementing a core stability training program with a professional Spanish football team. For the validation study, 22 physically active men (Tegner Scale 6–7) performed three trials of the PPT and CCT tests in two different testing sessions separated by one week. In the longitudinal study, 13 male professional football players were equally evaluated (PPT and CCT) before and after the competitive session in which they completed a core training program. Intra-/intersession, and intertester, reliability was analyzed. PPT and CCT demonstrated excellent to good test–retest reliability and acceptable error measurement (ICCs for intratester and intrasession reliability ranged from 0.77 to 0.94 for the PPT, and 0.8–0.9 for the CCT) in all but one of the testing conditions (female tester for CCT test; ICC = 0.38). Significant improvements on core strength were found from pre to post evaluation in both the PPT (p < 0.01) and CCT (p < 0.01) after the implementation of a core training program in professional football players.

DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/1980-0037.2017v19n4p459 Physical exercise is one of the forms of prevention and treatment of obesity and associated diseases such as hepatic steatosis. The aim of this study was to analyze whether hepatic steatosis interferes in the effect of physical exercise on the body composition of obese children and adolescents. The sample consists of 40 obese individuals, 13 children (8.17±1.33 years) and 27 adolescents (12.28±1.36 years). Total and segmental body composition was estimated by DEXA. Anthropometric measurements were performed, as well as ultrasound examination of the liver to measure intra-abdominal and subcutaneous fat, and to diagnose hepatic steatosis (HS). The intervention consisted of 20 weeks, with recreational/competitive activities being applied to children and, for adolescents, concurrent training (aerobic and resistance). The Levene’s, repeated-measures ANOVA and effect size tests (ES) by Eta-Squared were performed. It was observed that, although not statistically significant, analyzing the effect size, physical activity in both children (body fat ES effect time= 0.210 and ES effect group= 0.208; fat mass ES effect group = 0.338; fat android ES effect Interaction= 0.267), and adolescents (intra-abdominal fat ES effect group = 0.230) regardless of whether or not HS was effective in reducing body fat. Therefore, exercise was effective in improving the body composition of obese children and adolescents, regardless of HS.

The compositional content of the body of athletes is one of the factors that can affect the effectiveness of sports activity, being an important component of the training process of football players. In turn, the composition of the body depends on the orientation, intensity and volume of training loads. Physical activity and exercise are known to lead to a decrease in body fat and an increase in lean body mass. The purpose of the study was to determine the significance of body composition for functional readiness of football players. Material and methods. The research involved 81 football players (Ukrainian Premier League), aged 20-30 years. During the research, the following methods were used: chronometry, ergometry, spirometry, gas analysis, heart rate monitoring, anthropometry and impedance measurement, biochemical research methods, and mathematical statistics methods. Results and discussion. As a result of the study, we established the influence of the body composition, in particular the percentage of body fat, on the level of functional readiness of football players. The probable correlations between the values of the level of functional readiness and indicators of the composition of the body were revealed. We found probable correlation between lean body mass and absolute power (r = 0.90; p ≤ 0.05), lean mass and VO2max (r = 0.44; p ≤ 0.05). A probable correlation between the percentage of fat and specific power (r = - 0.45; p ≤ 0.05), the percentage of fat and speed (r = - 0.50; p ≤ .05) was also revealed. An increase in body fat mass can negatively affect the specific power, speed and aerobic capabilities of athletes; it manifests itself in a decrease in the VO2max, speed and power of football players with an increase in body weight due to the fat component. Conclusion. The highest values of maximum power and VO2max were achieved by football players with adipose tissue content in the range from 9.0 to 16.0%. An increase in the level of functional readiness of football players is possible by optimizing the compositional composition of the body of athletes, namely, the percentage of body fat

The commercial attractiveness of football, the introduction of financial “fair play” and the need to disclose financial statements are forcing professional football clubs to pay more and more attention to issues of financial stability, improving management efficiency, including the transfer activities of football clubs. The article deals with the issues of transfer activity of a professional football club and the risks arising from this, which can significantly affect the financial, sports and reputation components of the club’s activities. This topic is especially relevant in view of the current situation with the coronavirus pandemic in the world, since one of the areas of activity that has been significantly affected is the football industry. Many clubs, including Russian ones, were forced to cut players’ and employees’ salaries, which was associated with a huge loss of income; and this obviously reflected on the transfer activity as well as the activity in the 2020 summer transfer window. Therefore, the need to pay even more attention to the topic of risks when making transfers seems obvious. This article is devoted to formulating the concept of transfer risk and creating a classification of transfer risks and transfer market participants, as well as their characteristics in terms of attitudes towards the risks arising from the transition of a professional footballer from one club to another in relation to the Russian professional football club. The article proposes a classification of transfer risks and transfer market participants from the point of view of their attitude to risks, which makes it possible to assess the degree of probability and the type of possible transfer risks to improve the efficiency of the transfer activities of a professional Russian football club. The article concludes that the most dangerous from the point of view of transfer risk due to incorrect decision-making and assessment of the situation are the actions of the representative of the buying club and the body that makes the final decision on the transfer; the least risky are the actions of the scout department and the intermediary agent. The article also introduces the concept of a player’s full transfer value, which is associated with a tendency for the difference between the market and transfer values of players to increase.

ABSTRACTBody condition score, assessed subjectively on the live animal, was related to the directly determined body composition of 73 mature, non-pregnant, non-lactating cows of Hereford × Friesian, Blue-Grey, Galloway, Luing and British Friesian genotypes. Relationships between condition score and chemically determined body fat were all very highly significant, and considered to be of value for predictive purposes. Differences between genotypes in the proportion of fat stored in the main depots of the body resulted in differences in the relationship between condition score and body fat. British Friesian cows had a higher proportion of their fat in the intra-abdominal depots and the lowest proportion of subcutaneous fat, resulting in their being fatter at any given condition score. Hereford × Friesian cows had the highest proportion of subcutaneous fat and were thus the least fat at any condition score. One unit change in condition score was associated with a change of 2242 (s.e. 103) MJ of body tissue energy in Hereford × Friesian, Blue-Grey, Galloway and Luing cows and 3478 (s.e. 392) MJ in British Friesian cows. These figures may be used to bring a greater degree of precision to the nutritional management of beef and dairy cows.
