The section below contains reports on bioarchaeological remains recovered in the excavations in Areas D and C in the Sanctuary of Poseidon at Kalaureia, Poros, between 2003 and 2005. The excavations were directed by the late Berit Wells within a research project named Physical Environment and Daily Life in the Sanctuary of Poseidon at Kalaureia (Poros). The main objective of the project was to study what changed and what remained constant over time in the everyday life and in both the built and physical environment in an important sanctuary of the ancient Greeks. The bioarchaeological remains, of a crucial importance for this type of study, were collected both by means of traditional archaeological excavation and by processing extensively collected soil samples. This text aims to providing the theoretical and archaeological background for the analyses that follow.

This research is important to develop the ability to think logically groups of 3-4 years. This research develops aspects of early childhood development, namely the ability to think logically. The purpose of this study was to determine the development of the ability to think logically 3-4 years of age through media mixing games. This type of research conducted by researchers is to use Quasi Experimental design with Nonequivalent Group Pretest Posttest Design. The results of the study showed the results of the SPPSS version 22 test get a sig value of 0.616> 0.05, thus Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. If Ha is accepted then this shows that learning media mixing colors gives an influence on the development of logical thinking of children aged 3-4 years. Through the method of mixing colors in this study the teachers can not only develop the ability to think logically, but also can be done to develop several other aspects of development in children.

This article discusses the Finnish child home care allowance. It describes the main features of the allowance and positions it into the broader picture of Finnish childcare policies. The article approaches the home care allowance also from the perspective of daily life and asks how the beneficiaries themselves assess the use of the benefit. This discussion is based on interviews of 20 parents. The interviews were conducted as part of the research project Contradictory Reality of the Child Home Care Allowance funded by the Academy of Finland. The article pays attention to the contradictory nature of the child home care allowance and brings out possible problems related to it. It highlights three themes through and in relation to which parents make sense of their choice of home care. These are family time, the best interest of the child and manageable daily life.

As automation becomes increasingly common in daily life the importance of understanding how we interact with automated systems increases, especially attribution of blame for accidents involving a human-automation team. The current research project looks at how humans attribute blame in an accident involving a human operator and a robot worker and is based on a previous study (Furlough et al., 2019). Participants will read two scenarios detailing an accident while being shown both the operator and robot. The robot’s appearance is manipulated to imply varying levels of automation, ranging from a simple robot to one with a human appearance. Results showed no significant effects, however, this research still has the potential to contribute to the understanding of interactions between humans and automated systems and could inform design in the future to facilitate a positive working environment with robots and humans.

This chapter focuses on the development of mobile applications in a research strategy that combines computer sciences and architecture and urbanism. The main goal of the research is to develop mobile applications that help specific target people in daily life situations and that clearly contribute for advances in the fields of computer sciences and social responses. The authors discuss a group of mobile apps that were developed for smartphones and tablets and that respond to the following broad goals: 1) mapping of the physical space in order to adapt it to respond better to the users' needs, 2) adaptation of the physical space to the users' needs, and finally, 3) give the users a better knowledge about the physical space they are in. For each app developed, the authors describe the research problem involved, the goals, the development process, and the developed solution as well as the tests conducted to measure their performance. Usability and satisfaction tests revealed that the developed apps have a good acceptance by the target users.

Many children are currently challenging to comprehend the mathematics learning, especially the counting. The children assumed that mathematics is a disliked subject, while most of the aspects in the daily life require the ability to count. The primary education about the numbers is still lacking. In early childhood, a math learning activity should be in a fun atmosphere in learning. To know numbers need to be presented creatively by using media such as multimedia-based computers so as not to get bored for the students. The application of number recognition for early childhood is equipped with sound to assist the students in pronouncing the numbers. By using the computer, the students can recognize the number 1 to 10 increased by about 37%, 39% of the students can write the numbers, and 15% of them can say the numbers.

Working with concepts from Foucault and Deleuze I analyze how the youngest children relate to matter and the environment around them in a preschool context. The children are always connected to space, time and place and here I analyze how space, time and place are linked to the body in an epistemological and ontological sense. I research the daily life in preschools, analyzing early childhood spaces in an environment comprising water, sand, spades, leaves, trees, clothes, buildings, other bodies, etc. These relate further to how movements are situated, not only in language, but in bodily practices. From this angle I also make my selves as a researcher visible both during my fieldwork and in the writings.
