AbstractAlthough the most effective strategy for preventing or containing severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) outbreaks relies on early diagnosis, the paramount and unprecedented number of tests needed to fully achieve this target is overwhelming worldwide testing supply and capacity. Molecular detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in nasopharyngeal swabs is still considered the reference diagnostic approach. Nonetheless, identification of SARS-CoV-2 proteins in upper respiratory tract specimens and/or saliva by means of rapid (antigen) immunoassays is emerging as a promising screening approach. These tests have some advantages compared to molecular analysis, such as point of care availability, no need of skilled personnel and dedicated instrumentation, lower costs and short turnaround time. However, these advantages are counterbalanced by lower diagnostic sensitivity compared to molecular testing, which would only enable to identifying patients with higher SARS-CoV-2 viral load. The evidence accumulated to-date has hence persuaded us to develop a tentative algorithm, which would magnify the potential benefits of rapid antigen testing in SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics.

Safety and quality are key issues for the food industry. Consequently, there is growing demand to preserve the food chain and products against substances toxic, harmful to human health, such as contaminants, allergens, toxins, or pathogens. For this reason, it is mandatory to develop highly sensitive, reliable, rapid, and cost-effective sensing systems/devices, such as electrochemical sensors/biosensors. Generally, conventional techniques are limited by long analyses, expensive and complex procedures, and skilled personnel. Therefore, developing performant electrochemical biosensors can significantly support the screening of food chains and products. Here, we report some of the recent developments in this area and analyze the contributions produced by electrochemical biosensors in food screening and their challenges.

Patients who suffer from inherited or acquired thrombocytopenia can be also affected by platelet function defects, which potentially increase the risk of severe and life-threatening bleeding complications. A plethora of tests and assays for platelet phenotyping and function analysis are available, which are, in part, feasible in clinical practice due to adequate point-of-care qualities. However, most of them are time-consuming, require experienced and skilled personnel for platelet handling and processing, and are therefore well-established only in specialized laboratories. This review summarizes major indications, methods/assays for platelet phenotyping, and in vitro function testing in blood samples with reduced platelet count in relation to their clinical practicability. In addition, the diagnostic significance, difficulties, and challenges of selected tests to evaluate the hemostatic capacity and specific defects of platelets with reduced number are addressed.

The primary objective of this paper is about innovation within specific social organization which compacts with the division of labor, knowledge creation, and the use of technology such as e-enterprise in social economy aimed at improving productivity. A significant proportion of the world's economy is organized to make profits not only for investors but to sustain the employment of many disadvantaged people throughout the world. It includes cooperative organizations, foundations and many other social enterprises that provide a wide range of products and services across the globe and generate sustainable employment. Productivity tends to increase when the job is divided into manageable portions and then performed by adequately skilled personnel. In order to succeed in an environment in which other businesses fiercely compete along with social enterprises it is imperative to take into account innovative systems such as e-enterprise to leverage competition and increase productivity.

The article examines the relevant issues related to the investment projects, the creation of investment programs and to carrying out the investment policy on the municipal and regional levels. Any municipality has to solve a lot of problems concerning a decent level of economic and social development of the area and the life standard of their residents. In conditions of the constant shortage of financial resources needed to solve the objectives, the investment policy becomes the major tool. Its main aim is not only to attract extra resources but also to distribute them properly. It requires both some certain legal conditions which allow correct evaluation of the social and economic situation in the municipalities, investment climate, conditions for the investment activities infrastructure development and the properly developed business, investment and corporate culture of the population.For most of the Russian territories the problem of attracting investments into the real production sector remains urgent. The solution of this problem requires rational approach to the determination and selection of the most appropriate investment directions and the evaluation of the perspective investment projects development – suggestions and activities aimed at the achievement of the particular economic, social, ecological and other objectives requiring capital funds.The relevance of the examined problem leads to another important issue connected with the training of a highly skilled personnel capable of giving proper evaluation of the political situation in the country, specific features of tax policy, microeconomic indexes of the certain area and other factors essential for the investment activity.

Due to the effect of climate factors, natural phenomena and human usage, buildings and infrastructures are subject of progressive degradation. The deterioration of these structures has to be monitored in order to avoid hazards for human beings and for the natural environment in their neighborhood. Hence, on the one hand, monitoring such infrastructures is of primarily importance. On the other hand, unfortunately, nowadays this monitoring effort is mostly done by expert and skilled personnel, which follow the overall data acquisition, analysis and result reporting process, making the whole monitoring procedure quite expensive for the public (and private, as well) agencies. <br><br> This paper proposes the use of a partially user–assisted procedure in order to reduce the monitoring cost and to make the obtained result less subjective as well. The developed method relies on the use of images acquired with standard cameras by even inexperienced personnel. The deterioration on the infrastructure surface is detected by image segmentation based on a level sets method. The results of the semi-automated analysis procedure are remapped on a 3D model of the infrastructure obtained by means of a terrestrial laser scanning acquisition. <br><br> The proposed method has been successfully tested on a portion of a road bridge in Perarolo di Cadore (BL), Italy.


This Thematic Network aims at developing the European dimension of Higher Engineering Education by enhancing the compatibility of the many diverse routes to the profession of engineer, by facilitating greater mobility and integration of skilled personnel throughout Europe, by favouring a mutual exchange of skills and competences and providing a platform for communication between academics and professionals. Five main activities have been organised under the overall umbrella of the Thematic Network.The work contains 6 volumes.

Topicality. The crisis situation of the state of Ukrainian population health lifts the level of rehabilitation of patients and persons with disability to the priority national problem. The state of rehabilitation services grant substantially depends on the skilled personnel providing. Research aim: on the basis of analysis of scientifically-methodical literature and normatively legal acts to investigate pre-conditions and modern trends of progress of physical therapy and occupational therapy specialities in Ukraine. Research results. The educational programs of specialists preparation on a physical rehabilitation have many defects, and preparation of specialists on occupational therapy is absent in our country absolutely. In accordance with normative acts physical therapy is the legal successor of physical rehabilitation in our country, but these concepts are not identical. The intensive process of forming of new specialities, criterias of accreditation, educational programs of retraining passes in Ukraine. Conclusions. Change of legal bases in the sphere of preparation and labour of physical therapeutists and ergotherapeutists, design of educational programs in accordance with international standards, is the first step on a way to quality development of these fields of knowledge and practice.
