Abstract. High-speed railways are fast-growing and promising type of traffic. In Russia development of high-speed railway service is associated with the solution of a number of problems, including infrastructure. Authors propose to use earth connection of the railway catenary with the help of an artificial earthing switch on currently designed high-speed line Moscow—Kazan for 2×25 kV power supply system. Taking into account requirements for electrical safety conditions for maintenance of the track and earthed catenary supports, paper justifies method for calculating allowable voltages of rail—earth points and supports of catenary. Methods takes into account structural features of ballastless track superstructure used for high-speed lines. It is estimated that the voltages admissible under the electrical safety conditions are random in nature and distributed logarithmically normal. When calculating probability of safe operation, one should take into account random nature of both permissible stresses and those actually occurring on the track. It is estimated that the probability of safe operation in traction networks of sections with ballastless track superstructure does not exceed a similar value in electrified sections with the conventional structure of a ballast prism. Feasibility of using a 2×25 kV earth system using an artificial earth connection is confirmed, recommendations on its use are given. Authors substantiate allowable values of the rail—earth voltage and catenary supports, which practically exclude the occurrence of hazardous situations for personnel maintaining the track in sections with ballastless track superstructure.

Transformer is the main equipment of power system, its operation reliability is directly related to power system security and reliability of power supply. In order to guarantee the safe operation of power system, must strengthen the monitoring of the main transformer.With the development and popularization of intelligent station, the detection of transformers insulation is faced with the new problem that PT signal is not convenient to get and even unable to get. This paper proposes the relative method which is used to calculate and monitor dielectric loss of transformer bushing and designs the on-line monitoring device, through the data acquiring form the on-line monitoring instrument which are installed in the transformer of substation shows that this method has high precision, strong anti-interference ability.

The issue of using hydrogen as an energy source of the future raises greater and greater interest and lively discussions. Frequently, leaving aside complexity of the problem, these discussions focus exclusively on fragmentary analyses. This presentation is a description of practical and comprehensive assessment of an actual efficiency of a system using hydrogen for supplying energy in mobile arrangements of a power in the region of a dozen watts. In our discussion, emphasis was placed on the analysis of advantages and disadvantages taking into consideration all these aspects that are necessary for the correct and safe operation of the system.

The reliability of the auxiliary power supply of a nuclear power plant (NPP) is of high importance for safe operation. The loss of the electrical power supply is one of the major contributions to the calculated core damage frequency in probabilistic safety assessments. Among others, the events in Forsmark in 2006 [1] and 2012 [2] as well as in Byron in 2012 [3] illustrate that disturbances in the external power grid can propagate into the NPP and have an impact on the safety important electrical equipment. Therefore, the grid reliability contributes considerably to the reliability of the auxiliary power supply. In the research work presented in this paper the international operating experience has been evaluated concerning events which include disturbance in the external grid to discover those types of grid disturbances which may have influence on the safe operation of the NPPs. The identified events have then been categorized within a developed classification scheme to determine those with the highest relevance. Based on this scheme representative scenarios of grid disturbances have been developed. The investigation of the impact of the developed scenarios on the electrical equipment of NPPs will be performed using a grid analysis, planning and optimization tool which also allows executing dynamic simulations of electrical grids [4]. Therefore, a generalized auxiliary power supply of a pressurized water reactor was modeled according to German NPPs of the type Konvoi. In this paper, an overview of the developed scenarios of grid disturbances and the actual status of the simulation of the auxiliary power supply of NPPs is presented.

Over-voltages happen when electric locomotive passes the neutral section, which has serious influence on safe operation of the traction power supply system. This paper builds the model of contact net and neutral section of traction power line and analyzes transient process of the electric locomotive passing the neutral section. This paper proposes automatic control system for electric locomotive passing neutral section. It is effective to avoid the over-voltages.

The DC power substation equipment is all energy infrastructure, once therere some problems with the DC equipment, which will make all the related equipment loses power, it will directly affect the safe operation of the substation. This article discusses some shortcomings of the original lead-acid batteries for emergency DC power, demonstrated high frequency switching power supply with the combination used of LiFePO4 iron group of science, along with a brief description of the features and benefits of their work.
