Caesar's Things is a semi-autobiographical novel combining modernist literary experimentation with narrative structures derived from the Bible. This unfinished work is seldom analyzed by literary scholars, in part because Fitzgerald's Christian conversion in the 1930s coincided with a mental breakdown, which made her faith and writing both suspect. Criticized as “incoherent,” the novel nonetheless becomes legible when Fitzgerald's religion is disentangled from madness and its contributions examined. The novel confesses the spiritual impoverishment of the Jazz Age protagonist, then seeks her redemption, healing the divide between the self and her soul, between the material world and the kingdom of God.

A sample of 2129 pupils in the third through sixth years of Protestant and Catholic grammar schools in Northern Ireland completed an index concerned with attitudes towards creationism and evolutionary theory. The data demonstrate that among this age group in Northern Ireland, 48 percent accept the view that “God created the world as described in the Bible,” while 33 percent accept the view that “Science disproves the biblical account of creation.” Support for creationism is stronger among girls than boys, among Protestants than Catholics, and among third and fourth year students than fifth and sixth year students. The results have implications for understanding the conflict between science and religion and for both science educators and religious educators.

The Kingdom of God - Ground plan of the Bible The Bible does not only look like a book, in reality it requires to be read and understood as a book. But then not as a book written by a variety of authors with a great number of divergent and even contradicting stories, but as a book with a unique unity, in spite of its diversity of authors and perspectives. Through the authors God opens His heart for mankind and discloses His deepest intention with His creation.

The kingdom of God as a systematic-theological category in the work of J.A. Heyns Heyns was probably the most noteworthy Afrikaans speaking theologian of the 20th century, considering the quantity of Afrikaans theological publications from his pen. It is a well known fact that he used the kingdom of God as a systematic-theological category that flows like a perennial river of opportunity through all of his writings. It created an opportunity to be consistent in both his systematic theology and in his ethics, show clearly how man and God can be coworkers in a dialogical relationship and to integrate philosophy with theology. Unfortunately, there was sometimes flooding, because he filled the kingdom of God with philosophical concepts and viewed it as an ontological cosmic-universal entity. His philosophical background also occasionally led to inadequate speculations in his theology and inadmissibly he didnt always use the Bible appropriately, although his doctrine of Scripture and hermeneutics were satisfactory. Lastly, his philosophical modus operandi helped him to differentiate between important theological concepts, which have problem solving abilities.

The prophetic voice of the Dutch Reformed Church to the South African Government in the decade after 1994When referring to the viewpoints of the Dutch Reformed Church as a whole, one should look for the decisions of its general synod. In trying to be a church and a prophet, this General Synod should speak out according to the Bible and in the way of a church or an institution of faith. The Dutch Reformed Church indeed spoke as a prophet to the government in the decade after 1994. However, it was done with a certain reluctance and not from an overall perspective. Two main factors contributed to this. There is a difference in worldview between this church and the government. The Dutch Reformed Church had the experience that a little came of its efforts. In the meantime the Dutch Reformed Church remains convinced that it should promote the kingdom of God in South Africa as a church and through its individual members.

Two major religions, Christianity and Islam, claim that their scriptures are God’s words and, therefore, divine, accurate, and without any mistakes. However, these statements are needed to be critically studied. This paper attempts to examine scriptural information on the events in the past and the future as presented by two holy books based on the true history or other signs. The author will discuss examples of events from the Bible and the Qur’an respectively. In the case of the Bible, the events include the floods in the age of prophet Nūh; Identity of Haman; The second coming of Jesus to the Earth before Paul; and The Kingdom of God. From the al-Qur’an, theauthor will present examples of the flood in the age of prophet Nūh; Identity of Haman; further information on Fir’aun; information on Rome after the defeat by the Persian Kingdom; and Cases of Abū Jahl and al-Walīd ibn Mughīrah. All those scriptural events will be examined comparatively in this paper. Keywords: al-Qur’an, Bibel, Informasi Skriptural, Peristiwa Masa Lalu dan Masa Kini

In 1844, the Congregationalist minister Enoch Pond in Bangor, Maine, reminded his fellow clergy that they had been commissioned not only to feed the sheep of their flocks but also to nurture the lambs. Under no circumstances, he cautioned, would a good minister neglect the children, for both Christian parents and their pastors felt “the deepest anxiety” that the children of American parishes would not “receive that wise government, that faithful discipline, that Christian instruction and restraint, which, by the blessing of God, shall result in their speedy conversion, and bring them early and truly into the fold of Christ.” He called for pastors to pray for the children, to convene meetings of praying parents, to pay attention to children during pastoral visits, to impart special instruction to children from the pulpit, to visit their schools, to institute Sunday schools, to teach children the Bible, and to offer catechetical instruction. The devoted pastor would acquaint himself with children, “enter into their feelings, and interest himself in their affairs; and thus engage their affections, and win their confidence.“Christian clergy in America had long heeded such admonitions. Seventeenth-century Puritan ministers made serious, if sporadic, efforts to teach the catechism, often invited groups of children into their homes for instruction, contended over the implications of the baptismal covenant, and urged parents to teach their offspring religious truths and Christian practices. Eighteenth-century Anglican clergy made similar efforts to instruct children, and their revivalist counter-parts in New England and the Middle Colonies encouraged the conversion of children at younger than customary ages. Jonathan Edwards devoted careful attention to his four-year-old convert Phebe Bartlet, who followed in the path of her converted eleven-year-old brother by announcing, after anguished prayers and cries for mercy, that “the kingdom of God had come” to her.

The Great Commission is an integral part of the life of believers. This is the message of Christ for all citizens of the kingdom of God. It is called the Great Commission that does not mean its position is more important than other parts of the Bible. But this has demands that every believer must do. On the other hand it can be confirmed that the Great Commission is nothing but the pulse of the believer. In Matthew 28: 18-20, discussions about the Great Commission can be divided into three main parts. These three parts stand to support one another, and refer to the central theme of the Great Commission. First, the Great Commission is based on the authority of the Father bestowed on Christ. Second, the Great Commission is a continuous activity that is always inherent in the lives of believers. When the Great Commission is sustained by the ability or inclusion of Christ. These three things are the essence or essence of the interpretation of the Great Commission in the daily life of believers.

Abstract: The leadership crisis is an actual problem in Indonesia, which can be seen from the arrest of several leaders by the Corruption Eradication Commission due to the weak leadership model of the leaders. The leadership of Jesus Christ is the answer to the current leadership crisis. In the midst of a leadership model that relies on power, position and tends to be self-oriented, Jesus' leadership model which is oriented towards a leader-servant pattern and is altruistic in nature becomes the way to answer the leadership crisis. The critical interpretation’s method of the Bible which search for the meaning of the passage based on the existing text and ‘sitz im leben’, especially to Matthew 20:20-28, found a leadership model of Jesus that deserves to be followed and at the same time can be used as a guide for developing an appropriate and effective leadership model. The results of the study show that the leadership model of Jesus Christ in Matthew 20: 20-28 is leadership that has a vision and leadership ethics for the Kingdom of God, namely a leadership model that is pro-people and life (altruistic). Through the leadership model of Jesus Christ, one can lead effectively, efficiently and down to earth.   Keywords: Christian; Ethics of the Kingdom of God; Jesus Christ; Leadership; Leader-Servant; Vision.

Technology and meaningful existence in AfricaIn dealing with the human capability to improve reality, there are both pessimistic and optimistic views. Pessimistic views include the ancient Greek tragedies and the second law of thermodynamics according to which the level of chaos, or enthropy, increases in any closed system. Optimistic views include the modern Western belief in progress through human control over nature, through technology. Optimistic views are found in some postmodern chaos theories. The Nedcor- Old Mutual Scenarios of 1992 presented an optimistic view. The scenarios advocated massive investment in socio-economic programmes in South Africa dealing with housing, electrification, education, job creation and containing HIV/AIDS. The actual results however are disappointing. A more realistic view is found in the Bible: The power of chaos, sin and death is never underestimated and thus one cannot be optimistic. But the Kingdom of God, which began with Jesus Christ, prevents us from becoming pessimistic, and gives us hope. Such an approach would lead to more meaningful results than either an optimistic or a pessimistic approach would achieve.
