Data-analysis in descriptive qualitative research: organizing, summarizing, comparing and interpreting Data-analysis in descriptive qualitative research: organizing, summarizing, comparing and interpreting The grounded theory (GT) method of open, axial and selective coding is unnecessary in descriptive qualitative research. This is for example the case in complex situations and when several research questions are posed. Researchers could get lost when a GT methodology would be applied. The author argues that Miles and Huberman offer a more appropriate method of analysis: organize the data by means of a well-considered set of codes, summarize the data in matrixes and report by comparing the data. This qualitative data analysis method is exemplified with an in-depth analysis of research data on medical decision making concerning the allocation of scarce donor organs.

The development of music, film, and other industry of entertainment is stated to contribute to the existence of slang words. There are so many slang words that become popular after they are included in the lyrics of songs. One of them is YOLO (You Only Live Once) which is popularized by Drake. In relation to that, this descriptive qualitative research attempts to find out the types and word formation processes of slang words found in the lyrics of Drake’s songs. By taking the model of document analysis by Bowen (2009) and Qualitative data analysis by Miles and Hubberman (1994), it is found out that there are 190 slang words existing in the lyrics of Drake’s songs. They are respectively categorized into Clipping type (62 slangs), Fresh and Creative type (44 slangs), Compounding type (44 slangs), Imitative type (36 slangs), and Acronym type (4 slangs).

The purpose of this research is to know the process of calculation cost of service on HBBA Automotive Repair shop using Time Driven Activity Based Costing (TDABC) method. This research was conducted in one of Member's HBBA that is Formula Automotive Repair shop. This type research is qualitative research. Data collection methods used ini this research are observation, interview and documentation. Data analysis method used in this research is descriptive analytical. The result of this research showed when Formula Automotive use Time Driven Activity Based Costing (TDABC) method in determining cost of service is more clear and appropriate in accordance with utilization available resources in each services. Which is different with whats done by the company in determining cost of service, where the company still has not made a definite calculation and this can be seen when determining price of service based on provisions of owner and mechanics still using estimates. The results of calculation of Time Driven Activity Based Costing (TDABC) method there are 3 types of services that have a cost that is too large compared to the service price determined by Formula Automotive Repair shop, namely wheel laher replacement, ac service and lamp service. So it is necessary to determine new price of service. Keywords: Cost of Service, Price of Service, Time-Driven-Activity Based-Costing

This paper illustrates how the Analytic Guiding Frame (AGF) and the Overall Guiding Frame (OGF) are applied when analytic shifts occur in qualitative data analysis. Analytic shifts mainly occur when a proposed analytical method is found to be not fully amenable for analysis because of the contextually-bound nature of qualitative data. In this paper, the illustration located in the field of literacy education revolves around how a methodological and analytical problem was confronted during the fieldwork/analysis stage of research and how analytic negotiations were made with the help of the AGF/OGF framework. From here, it is proposed that much more consideration on matters of epistemology, methodology, research objective and research questions in qualitative research must be made when the iterative process of qualitative data analysis takes place.

This paper describes, knows, understands, and analyzes self-evaluation from the perspective of surah Al-Isrā verse 14. Self-evaluation in psychology is called self-introspection, which means self-correction, while in Islam, it is called muḥāsabah or muḥāsabah al-nafṣ. Muḥāsabah, in the person of a Muslim in particular, is an attempt to count and evaluate himself, how many sins he has committed and what good he has not done. This study is qualitative research under the literature study method, which focuses on the question of self-evolution from the perspective of surah Al-Isra verse 14. The data source comes from the ministry of religious affairs' translation of the Qur'an, and books related to self-evaluation contain self-evaluation from surah Al-Isra' verse 14. Data were analyzed using the qualitative data analysis method. Self-evaluation in QS Al-Isra': 14refers to the word al-ḥisāb, if an evaluation may be done by oneself on all the deeds that have been done. Explaining this, in surah Al-Isrā'a verse 14, Allah evaluates His creatures on the day of reckoning (the trial of the Hereafter). Therefore it is a man who is commanded to judge his own deeds. Suppose it is associated with the point of evaluation of education. In that case, the meaning of al-ḥisāb indicates that the assessment results depend on the intensity of the subject in completing the exam question. Therefore, the task of educators is to motivate the subject of the learner to learn and maximum when completing the exam question seriously.

In teaching, almost all schools use textbooks. In teaching, the schools give the textbooks to students as the medium of teaching. The textbooks do not only include lessons and practices, but they also include texts and even various text types. The text types are given to the students as medium of practicing the lessons that the students focusing. Halliday                    (1989:12) states context consists of three aspects, namely field, tenor and mode. The objective of this study is to reason for the various text types are realized in the textbooks of the first Grade of State Islamic School. Donal ( 2010: 29) states that qualitative research is a study that aims to understand a phenomenon that focuses on the total picture. Research design in this study was done by descriptive qualitative research. Data analysis in this research is there are 19 text types used in the textbooks of the first Grade of State Islamic School. The technique for collecting data is observation which observesthe reason for the use of the text types in the textbooks and then analyzed the reason for the use of the text types in the textbooks by using Miles, Huberman and Saldana model ( 2014: 31) with three steps of data analysis such as abbreviating data, presenting data and picturing and proving conclusion. The findings show that the reason for the use of the text types in the textbooks of the first Grade of State Islamic School is based on the three aspects of context, namely field, tenor and mode. Keywords: Texts, Text Types, Systemic Linguistic,Textbooks

This chapter illustrates how to do qualitative data analysis. The principles of grounded theory methodology are taken as the main reference for developing a rigorous analysis of the data. Several examples and case studies are discussed to show the practicalities of qualitative data analysis. While explaining the mechanisms of qualitative data analysis, this chapter frames data analysis as part of the overall research process. Methods used in qualitative research give access to people's stories and experiences through language and captures the complexities of social processes. Grounded theory methodology is used to illustrate an approach to coding. Coding is about finding key themes in qualitative data in the form of a text and developing explanations of the research questions. Several approaches to coding—from open and axial coding to selective coding—are systematically presented. Issues of validity and reliability of qualitative data are also addressed within the overall process of research and data analysis leading to the writing-up.

AbstractCoding is a process used in the analysis of qualitative research, which takes time and creativity. Three steps will help facilitate this process:1. Reading through the data and creating a storyline;2. Categorizing the data into codes; and3. Using memos for clarification and interpretation.Remembering the research question or storyline, while coding will help keep the qualitative researcher focused on relevant codes. A data dictionary can be used to define the meaning of the codes and keep the process transparent. Coding is done using either predetermined (a priori) or emergent codes, and most often, a combination of the two. By using memos to help clarify how the researcher is constructing the codes and his/her interpretations, the analysis will be easier to write in the end and have more consistency. This paper describes the process of coding and writing memos in the analysis of qualitative data related to diabetes research.

Constraints to the implementation of character development through scout extracurricular activities have caused many students in the alert and mobilizing groups to focus more on the game than the material and there are still students who do not obey the scouting activity regulations. The purpose of this research was to analyze the implementation of character planting in students through scout extracurricular activities. This research was using a descriptive qualitative research. The population in this research was all students of SDN Tlogosari Kulon 06 Semarang, totaling 91 students. The validity of the data was obtained through two triangulations, namely technical triangulation and source triangulation. Collecting data through observation, interviews, and notes in the field. Tringulation technique for testing data creation. The data analysis method used was qualitative analysis method. The results of the analysis showed that the activities carried out during extracurricular scouting have implemented the planting of the five attitudes that need to be achieved by students. The students' religious, integrity, and nationalist attitudes are good, even though the implementation of the overall attitude has been carried out evenly, students still need an emphasis on independence and mutual cooperation. Most students still object to being made into a team with friends from other classes, they do not yet have the independence to go and use complete attributes when scouting extracurricular activities without having to be ordered and warned repeatedly by class teachers and coaches.
