<p>People have suffered both physically and mentally from threatening situation of the emerging cases of Coronavirus in Pakistan. The health professionals who are directly involved in performing various blood tests on the samples of COVID-19 patient are almost equally in danger zone to get infected as much as the health care workers who treat them. The environmental contamination is higher in the hospitals and working medical staff should practice strict protective measures to overcome this psychological stress or mental trauma as it sub-optimizes a person&rsquo;s working capacity.</p>

Harmonization of European and Russian standards of the quality of the delivery of school health services and competencies for school health professionals allowed to justify the concept of the evaluation of the quality of the delivery of medical help to students in educational institutions. The concept does not prescribe a concrete methodfor the organizing school health services, unified process of the activity of health professionals. The concept consists of 7 groups of indices of quality and competences of health care workers. Quality criteria include the presence of a regulatory framework, indices of benevolence towards children, social equity and access to health care for students, requirements for premises, equipment of medical rooms in schools, cooperation with the administration and teachers of schools, parents and children, the medical community, the requirements for health care workers, a minimum list of services, covering both population and individual needs of students, the secure storage, the management and use ofpersonal medical data of children and adolescents. The competences of the staff of medical units are determined by provided medical services and technologies of the work. Properly medical competences of workers of medical care units for the delivery of medical aid to students are contributed by willingness to ensure the rights of children in the process of health care delivery in the educational organization, skills in the field of communication, sharing of information with children, parents and teachers, cooperation with colleagues, planning and coordination of the organization of medical care, the provision of sanitary epidemiological well-being of students, informational-elucidative activity for shaping of healthy lifestyle, research activity. Concept is the basis of the algorithm of the evaluation of the quality of the delivery of medical aid to students and quality assessment technology as well by medical organizations and institutions, as in the form of an independent audit of the quality of the delivery of medical aid to students in educational institutions.

Background: Theoretically, health care workers (HCW) are at increased risk of getting infected with COVID-19 compared to the general population. Limited data exists regarding the actual incidence of COVID-19 infection amongst the high risk and low risk HCW of the same hospital. We present an audit from our tertiary cancer care centre comparing the COVID-19 infection rate between the high risk and low risk HCW, all of whom had been provided with adequate protective measures and health education.Methods: This is a retrospective observational study from 01 April 2020 to 30 September 2020, in which all the 970 HCW of Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer were divided into high risk and low risk groups. High risk HCW included all the medical and non-medical staff directly involved with the care of COVID-19 patients, and rest were low risk HCW. Adequate protective measures and classes for infection prevention were provided to all the HCW. We calculated the incidence of COVID-19 infection in both these groups based on the positive real time-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) result and also looked for any significant difference in incidence between these two groups.Results: The incidence of COVID-19 infection amongst the high risk HCW was 13% and that of low risk HCW was 14%.Conclusions: We found no significant difference in COVID-19 infection between the high risk and low risk HCW. Thus, along with protective measures, behavior modifications induced by working in high risk areas, prevented the high risk HCW from getting increased COVID-19 infection compared to the low risk HCW.

Abstract Background These days, engaging at sufficient regular physical activity strongly recommended for good health and physical functioning. Physical activity can increase the self-confidence of the health professionals and they would become fit for daily activities with patients. Knowing the level of physical activity can help health care professionals to plan for physical activity programs. This study aimed to measure the level of physical activity and associated factors among adult health professionals at Tirunesh Beijing general hospital.Objective The aim of this study was to assess the level of physical activity and associated factors among health care workers in Ethiopia, 2019.Methods Institution based cross-sectional study conducted level of physical activity and associated factors among health care workers in Ethiopia, 2019. Two hundred nighty seven adult health professionals were participated, which was a 97.4% response rate. The global physical activity questionnaire used to measure the level of physical activity. Descriptive statistics and binary logistic regression analyses was done to affirm the variables characteristics. A predictor variable with a p-value of less than 0.2 exported to multivariate analysis. During multivariate analysis, statistical significance declared at a p-value of < 0.05.Results In general, the majority of the study participants, 89.2% (95% CI: 85.9-92.6) were achieved recommended levels of physical activity. Regarding the intensity of the physical activity, the overall mean time score was 518.4 mints per week or 2352.6 MET/week. For moderate-intensity physical activity, 83.5% of the study participants were physically active, (≥150 minutes/week). In the case of vigorous activity, about 32.7% of the study participants were physically active and engaged in vigorous physical activity (≥75 minutes /week). The study participants, who had self-motivation for physical activity, had a BMI of less than 25 kg/m2 and aged < 40 years were physically active.Conclusions Health care providers’ habit of physical activity improved as compared with the previous studies. However, the current level of physical activity of health professionals is not adequate. Health care providers’ age, body mass index and self-motivation attribute to physical activity. The level of physical activity can increase by enhancing staff motivation towards physical activity.

Abstract Background The Syrian conflict has endured for a decade, causing one of the most significant humanitarian crises since World War II. The conflict has inflicted massive damage to civil infrastructure, and not even the health care sector has been spared. On the contrary, health care has been targeted, and as a result, many health professionals have left the country. Despite the life-threatening condition, many health professionals continued to work inside Syria even in the middle of the acute crisis. This qualitative study aims to determine the factors that have motivated Syrian health professionals to work in a conflict-affected country. Methods The research is based on 20 semi-structured interviews of Syrian health care workers. Interviews were conducted in 2016–2017 in Gaziantep, Turkey. A thematic inductive content analysis examined the motivational factors Syrian health care workers expressed for their work in the conflict area. Results Motivating factors for health care workers were intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic reasons included humanitarian principles and medical ethics. Also, different ideological reasons, patriotic, political and religious, were mentioned. Economic and professional reasons were named as extrinsic reasons for continuing work in the war-torn country. Conclusions The study adds information on the effects of the Syrian crisis on health care—from healthcare workers' perspective. It provides a unique insight on motivations why health care workers are continuing their work in Syria. This research underlines that the health care system would collapse totally without local professionals and leave the population without adequate health care.

Conflicts are part of our everyday life. They are inevitable companions in every sphere of human activity. Health care workers, as well as all the people who directly communicate with others, entering into conflict situations more often and several times a day. In contrast, health professionals do not have much knowledge about the sources of conflict and ways to solve them. The Health Centre Bijeljina in 2010 introduced ISO standards 9001, under which it was adopted and procedures: Managing appeals to us. Health care professionals are invited to efficiently resolve conflicts, knowing that they themselves created, and they are an essential part of human life. The results show that the application of the standards effective in resolving conflicts and conflict situations in the DZ-Bijeljina.

This study aims to estimate the economic costs of sickness absenteeism of health care workers in a large Italian teaching hospital during the seasonal flu periods. A retrospective observational study was performed. The excess data of hospital’s sickness absenteeism during three seasonal influenza periods (2010/2011; 2011/2012; 2012/2013) came from a previous study. The cost of sickness absenteeism was calculated for six job categories: medical doctor, technical executive (i.e., pharmacists); nurses and allied health professionals (i.e., radiographer), other executives (i.e., engineer), non-medical support staff, and administrative staff, and for four age ranges: <39, 40–49, 50–59, and >59 years. An average of 5401 employees working each year were under study. There were over 11,100 working days/year lost associated with an influenza period in Italy, the costs associated were approximately 1.7 million euros, and the average work loss was valued at € 327/person. The major shares of cost appeared related to nurses and allied health professionals (45% of total costs). The highest costs for working days lost were reported in the 40–49 age range, accounting for 37% of total costs. Due to the substantial economic burden of sickness absenteeism, there are clear benefits to be gained from the effective prevention of the influenza.

Implementation of health information systems (HIS) has resulted in multiple duties for health professionals as health care workers and HIS operators. This dual task can lead to increased effort for them, which can lead to resistance to HIS, either actively or passively. Both must be handled seriously because it often leads to the failure of HIS implementation. Meanwhile, passive resistance must be cautioned because in the early stages it is usually unknown to managers that it fails to be anticipated and worsens. As a strategic solution, organizations must always maintain and improve organizational support for users.

As previous pandemics have taught us, coming into contact with, or being associated with, a highly infectious and potentially deadly disease has social consequences. Hence, it is no surprise that stigma and shame have developed around COVID-19. Although there have been outpourings of support and admiration for health-care workers for their work in this pandemic, health professionals have been among those directly affected. This article considers how shame has been part of healthcare workers’ experience during the COVID-19 pandemic because of social media use and instances of online shaming.

Abstract: Antenatal care is an examination conducted to prevent complications during pregnancy. Antenatal examination is very important during pregnancy, so that health professionals should have knowledge of antenatal care to improve maternal and child health. The aim of this descriptive study is to determine the knowledge of health workers about antenatal care at Ranomuut Health Centers in Manado City. Population in this research that all health professionals who work in the health center Ranomuut totaling 38 people. The number of respondents that health workers who know about antenatal care as many as 25 people. Data were collected through questionnaires. The results showed 25 respondents, all health care workers have had knowledge of antenatal care.Keywords: health workers, antenatal care, knowledge.Abstrak: Antenatal care merupakan pemeriksaan yang dilakukan untuk mencegah adanya komplikasi selama kehamilan. Pemeriksaan Antenatal sangat penting dilakukan selama masa kehamilan sehingga diharapkan tenaga kesehatan harus memiliki pengetahuan terhadap antenatal care sebagai upaya meningkatkan kesehatan ibu dan anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengetahuan tenaga kesehatan terhadap antenatal care di Puskesmas Ranomuut Kota Manado. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu seluruh tenaga kesehatan yang bekerja di Puskesmas Ranomuut yang berjumlah 38 orang. Jumlah responden yaitu tenaga kesehatan yang mengerti tentang antenatal care sebanyak 25 orang. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dari 25 responden, semua petugas kesehatan telah memiliki pengetahuan tentang antenatal care.Kata kunci : tenaga kesehatan, antenatal care, pengetahuan.

Abstract Background We studied the prevalence of positive SARS-CoV2 antibody and positive SARS-CoV2 antigen among high risk health care workers at Loma Linda University Health System (LLUHS) who voluntarily obtained SARS-CoV2 antibody testing, and if indicated, antigen testing. The study determined that there is a significant decrease in the prevalence of SARS-CoV2 antigen among employees at LLUH compared to the community. Methods Employee Health and Occupational Medicine offered antibody testing to employees who were considered high risk, primarily working in the Coronavirus Disease 19 (COVID-19) designated units. We tested 658 subjects’ serum for the presence of IgM and IgG antibodies via the Nirmidas Qualitative SARS-CoV2 test. 29 subjects with a positive antibody test were subsequently tested for the presence of serum SARS-CoV2 antigen via PCR. Results There were 31 subjects who tested positive for IgM or IgG antibodies. 11 subjects had positive IgM with negative IgG. 3 subjects had negative IgM with positive IgG. 15 patients had positive IgM and positive IgG. 2 subjects had positive IgM with negative IgG, were subsequently retested, and then found to have positive IgM and positive IgG. Of those 31 subjects with a positive antibody test, 2 were not tested for the COVID-19 antigen, 1 had an inconclusive test, 23 tested negative, and 5 tested positive. Of those 5 positive for the antigen, 2 had symptoms and 3 did not report symptoms or did not use the symptom questionnaire. The community prevalence of positive SARS-CoV2 antigen in San Bernardino is 0.37%, as of June 16. The prevalence of positive SARS-CoV2 antigen among LLUH employees is 0.03% and the prevalence of positive antibody is 0.18%. The value of z is -7.3206, p is &lt; .00001. Thus, the result is significant at p &lt; .01. Conclusion The results of this testing supports the efficacy of the early protective measures that LLUHS implemented in preparation for the pandemic. Such protective measures include: mandated face masks, symptoms screening, testing for SARS-CoV2 antibody or antigen on patients admitted, a dedicated COVID-19 section of the emergency department as well as inpatient units, etc. Given the statistical significance of this study, the protective bundle can be used as a template for preventative measures for future pandemics.
