This article throws light to the Skills which should be acquired by the Library Staff in the Future Library Environment. The functional areas of library is diversified to vast service areas including Research, Educational Support, Social Activities, Women Empowerment, Cultural and heritage protection, Information Technology support to clientele, Effective administration of library Resources, Utilization Staff Man Power, Preservation of national Integrity, Support to senior citizens etc. In such a situation there arise the skill sharpening process in a modern and technology based context. Librarians are the connecting point between the actual user and the information sources. In order to satisfy the user’s information thrust for knowledge, the librarian should cope with new innovations in the technology and work.

This article analyzes the main problems of urban public spaces, because today public spaces can determine the future of cities. It is noted that parks are multifunctional public spaces in the urban environment, as they are an important element of the citywide system of landscaping and recreation, perform health, cultural, educational, aesthetic and environmental functions. The article notes that the need for easily accessible and well-maintained urban parks remains, however, the state of parks in many cities of Russia remains unsatisfactory, requiring reconstruction. A brief historical background of the Park of Culture and Rest of the Soviet period in Omsk is expounded, the analysis of the existing territory of the Park is presented. It is revealed that the Park, being the largest public space in Omsk, does not meet the requirements of modern urbanism, although it represents a great potential for designing the space for the purpose of recreation of citizens. Performed functional zoning scheme of the territory of the Park in question, where its division into functional areas destined for active recreational users of the Park is presented, considered the interests of senior citizens, people with limited mobility, etc. Reconstruction of Parks of the Soviet period can provide the city with additional recreational opportunities, as well as increase its tourist attractiveness.

The Results of the information review of the materials of the Websites of the Libraries of German Universities are presented. A sample of eleven libraries was formed, the selection criteria for which were the following indicators: The Universality of the acquisition of the fund; the presence in the structure of information resources of collections of rare, handwritten and old printed publications; participation in the network of library institutions located on campuses (libraries), library funds are completed with documents of a narrow-specialized direction. The practical problems of creating Information and library resources on education and pedagogy are highlighted; the defining components of the content and composition of the sites of these libraries are described. The Directions of formation of resources of the researched segment of libraries of universities with single - circuit and double – circuit structure are revealed and generalized. In universities of the first type, libraries perform the functions of the central and peripheral library structure, as a rule, information and library resources on pedagogy and education are exported from OPAC (Online public access Catalog) and KVK (Karlsruher Virtuelle Katalog). In universities with a two-circuit structure of libraries, the site presents resources for educational and pedagogical purposes, in library departments, resources of specialized direction are reflected. The qualitative characteristics of the portals of educational and pedagogical issues, placed on the basis of the DBIS information System, are given. features of the formed information resources on the basis of various information sources, according to needs of users, minimizing information overload by optional («superfluous») information flows are revealed. The directions of content formation, prospects of development of the portal «Pädagogik» are covered.

Purpose This paper aims to explain how innovation can contribute to sustainable tourism growth, bearing in mind that tourism was never a factor of conflict but a factor and a sign of peace and prosperity. Design/methodology/approach The paper is based on information drawn from official information sources and relevant data from Travelport. Findings Sustainable tourism growth is unstoppable and is already a reality – proved by decades of permanent growth. Sustainable tourism growth is needed for economic, social, cultural, environmental and political reasons. A continued and sustainable tourism growth is possible with better management and the innovation and technology support. Originality/value Tourism performance in recent decades proves that tourism can meet societal expectations and demands at all levels and is a determinant factor of cultural interchange and an important pillar for peace and harmony between different nationalities.

The primary aim of academic libraries is to fulfil the information needs of their user’s community. The present study intention is to know the extent of use of library resources by the PG students of Private Universities in Bangalore city. Further study has been stressed on the level awareness about various information sources as well problems faced while accessing those resources are identified. For this purpose the researcher prepared a structured questionnaire and distributed to 120 respondents and received back 100 questionnaires with the response rate being 83.33%. The study findings reveals that the still the PG Students are preferred to access print books for their study and reference and at the same time they are well aware of various information resources available their respective libraries.

This article was prepared on the basis of a survey of CIOP-PIB’s library resources covering the years 2000–2016. It presents publications on threats, methods of risk assessment and guidelines for safe operation of librarians in the work environment. In addition to Polish references, Scopus, an abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature, was searched for Polish and foreign articles indexed in that database.

Nowadays, small hotels are the most popular and intensively developing sector of the hotel industry. The modern typology of small hotels has significantly expanded and it includes new types of focus at a specific target segment of consumers. Customer focus is the most characteristic feature of small hotels and it is reflected in the organizational features of the functional and planning structure of the service areas in small hotels. The article is devoted to the discusses of the main and additional functional areas of small hotels (service part) based on the analysis of modern experience in the design and construction of small hotels, as well as the analysis of regulatory documents and scientific work on the design of this type of facilities. The main variants of functional schemes of the reception and lobby area, public catering area, consumer service and trade area, cultural and leisure, business, fitness and recreation, administrative and production areas, and areas for servicing cars (only for motels) are given. Conclusions are drawn about the direct relationship between the form of organization of the functional and planning structure of the service areas of small hotels with their specialization. It is concluded that the presence and composition of various functional areas of small hotels is always determined by a combination of the following external factors: type of hotel, location, level of comfort, contingent of guests. The tendency of consolidation and unification of separate functional zones of small hotels for maximum optimization of their space is revealed.

The recent explosion of “fake news” highlights the need for academic libraries to provide access to reliable information resources and for librarians to instruct students in using them effectively. Providing reliable resources with minimal barriers to access involves cooperation among librarians, publishers, and vendors; however, I suggest that there is tension between our mutual desires to satisfy student demands for instant and perfect results and to encourage them to become persistent and critical information seekers. Many tools exist to assist students in gaining background information and limiting search results, but ultimately none replace the need to develop and explore questions and to evaluate information sources. In this paper, I reflect on the difficulties of persuading students to persist in using library resources and the use of Bernard Lonergan’s generalized empirical method as a framework for critical thinking and information literacy.

Purpose – This paper aims to investigate the kinds of resources used by students at the University of the West Indies Mona Campus, to start their research and to find out their perception of the quality of the resources they use. Design/methodology/approach – A survey was distributed manually to undergraduates, and the responses were collated and analysed using Excel software. Findings – The findings revealed that Google was the resource most likely to be used by respondents to start their research, and the resource least used was the librarian (ask a librarian). Originality/value – This represents original research for the Mona Campus. It is important in helping the library to understand an aspect of the research habits and preferences of the undergraduate community it serves and will help the library in further decision-making, as it seeks to build awareness among the undergraduate population, of the library resources available to them.

This study aimed to compare risk perception, information sources, adoption of protective behaviors against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and levels of general anxiety among affiliated health care professionals, frontline health care professionals, and the general public in Taiwan. We recruited participants via a Facebook advertisement. We determined the risk perception, information sources, adoption of protective behaviors against COVID-19, and levels of general anxiety among 1954 respondents. In total, 269 affiliated healthcare workers, 371 frontline healthcare workers, and 1314 members of the general public were recruited into this study. The results indicated that both affiliated and frontline health care professionals had a higher level of risk perception of COVID-19, and more adopted protective behaviors against COVID-19 than the general public. No significant differences in risk perception or the adoption of protective behaviors were identified between affiliated, and frontline, health care professionals. Affiliated health care professionals had a lower level of general anxiety than the general public, whereas frontline health care professionals exhibited no significant difference in level of general anxiety compared with the general public or affiliated health care professionals. As important members of COVID-19 treatment teams, the need for psychological and educational support in affiliated health care professionals should receive attention.
