INTRODUCTION: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between nursing students’ awareness of the COVID-19 pandemic and health behaviors with health literacy. METHODS: This descriptive and cross-sectional study comprised 408 students enrolled in an undergraduate nursing program at a public university in Turkey. The data were collected online using the Individual Information Form, Healthy Lifestyle Behavior Scale II, and Turkish Health Literacy Scale-32. The percentiles, significance test of the difference between two means, and Pearson correlation analysis were used to analyze the data. RESULTS: The mean age of students was 20.89±1.95 and three of them had been diagnosed with COVID-19. It was determined that the students had sufficient health literacy (𝒙̅ =35.97±8.73), and healthy lifestyle behaviors during the COVID-19 pandemic were at a moderate level (𝒙̅ =55.76±12.05). The results showed that as awareness of nursing students regarding COVID-19 and precautions against it increased, their mean score of health literacy increased, too (p<.05). Furthermore, there was a positive correlation between students’ mean score of healthy lifestyle behaviors in nutrition, physical activity, and stress management and their mean score of health literacy (p<.05). DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: As the results have shown a relationship between nursing students’ awareness of COVID-19 and healthy lifestyle behaviors and health literacy, it is suggested to adapt the health literacy to students’ daily life during the pandemic period.

Objective: The aim of this study was to examine healthy lifestyle behaviors in the literature and determine nursing students’/nursing’s behavior level who formed the sample of studies in our country.Method: This study is carried out to determine nursing students/nurses behaviour level who formed the sample group between the years 2000-2015. The Publication and Documentation Department of the Council of Higher Education in Turkey, the National Academic Network and Information Center’s database on medical and nursing fields online and printed magazines published in Turkish. 21 studies and compilations, in which at least one of the researchers was a nurse, were accessed, and these studies and compilations constituted the sample of the present studyResults: A total of 26 studies included in this study which was the use of healthy lifestyle behaviors scale and nursing students / nurses formes in the sample. Healthy lifestyle of students in studies with scores of nursing students in our country seems to be on the middle level of the average. When we look at the work done by nurses using healthy lifestyle behavior scale, seems to be at an intermediate level. Conclusion: As a result of the research, nursing students and nurses are seen in intermediate level scores obtained from the healthy lifestyle behaviors scale . Most of the studies  are descriptive and the scores were found to be affected by various socio- demographic characteristiSo, for a high quality nursing care that provide by nurses, it is important that nurses be aware of basic concepts of oxygen therapy, methods of application and possible complications. ÖzetAmaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, ülkemizde hemşirelik öğrencilerinin ve hemşirelerin örneklemini oluşturduğu, sağlıklı yaşam biçimi davranış düzeylerini saptamak için yapılan çalışmaları incelemek, sonuçlarını analiz etmek ve somut veriler sunmaktır.Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu araştırma, 2000-2015 yılları arasında hemşirelik öğrencilerinin/ hemşirelerin örneklem grubunu oluşturduğu ve sağlıklı yaşam biçimi davranışları ölçeğinden aldıkları puanların incelenmesiyle yapılmış, bir retrospektif tanımlayıcı literatür araştırmasıdır. Veriler, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Yüksek Öğretim Kurulu (YÖK) Yayın ve Dokümantasyon Dairesi tez tarama veri tabanı, Ulusal Akademik Ağ ve Bilgi Merkezinde bulunan (ULAKBİM) tıp ve hemşirelik alanlarındaki veri tabanlarından Türkçe yayınlanan online ve basılı dergilerden elde edilmiştir.Bulgular: Sağlıklı yaşam biçimi davranışları ölçeğinin kullandığı ve hemşirelik öğrencilerinin/hemşirelerin örneklem grubunda yer aldığı toplam 26 çalışmaya ulaşılmış ve bu çalışmalar araştırmanın örneklemini oluşturmuştur. Ülkemizde hemşirelik öğrencileri ile yapılan çalışmalarda öğrencilerin sağlıklı yaşam biçimi ölçek puan ortalamalarının orta düzeyin üstünde olduğu görülmektedir. Sağlıklı yaşam biçimi davranışları ölçeği kullanılarak hemşireler ile yapılan çalışmalara bakıldığında, hemşirelerin sağlıklı yaşam biçimi ölçek puan ortalamalarının orta düzeyde olduğu görülmektedir. Her iki örneklem grubunda bazı sosyo-demografik özelliklerin sağlıklı yaşam biçimi davranışını etkilediği saptanmıştır.Sonuç: İncelenen araştırmaların sonucunda, hemşirelik öğrencilerinin ve hemşirelerin sağlıklı yaşam biçimi davranışları ölçeğinden aldıkları puanlarının orta düzeyde olduğu görülmektedir. Çalışmaların çoğunun tanımlayıcı nitelikte yapıldığı ve ölçek puanlarının değişik sosyo-demografik özelliklerden etkilendiği bulunmuştur.

Abstract Background Understanding the influence of healthy lifestyle behaviors on population-level life satisfaction is few known in the aging population, especially in low- and middle-income countries in Asia. The objective of our study was to analyse the association of lifestyle behaviors with life satisfaction in a nationally-representative sample of older persons in Thailand. Methods The sample was obtained from a baseline phase of a nationally-representative, longitudinal survey of the Thai population. The study employed a multistage sampling technique to recruit study participants age 60 years or older from the five geographic regions of Thailand. In this study, 1460 adults age 60 years or older from 3670 households successfully completed face-to-face interviews by trained staff with a structured questionnaire. Information on self-reported life satisfaction, lifestyle behaviors, and sociodemographic characteristics were collected via survey questionnaire. Life satisfaction was assessed using the Scale with Life Satisfaction (SWLS) [1 to 7] response. Binary logistic regression analysis was used in investigating the association between lifestyle behaviors and life satisfaction. Results The median age of the participants was 68.1 (60–93 years). The overall mean life satisfaction score was 24.2 ± 5.6. Regular physical activity (at least 30 min per day) and sufficient fruit and vegetable (FV) intake (at least 400 g per day) were significantly associated with older people’s life satisfaction (p ≤ 0.001 and p ≤ 0.10, respectively) after controlling all sociodemographic variables. Participants who had regular physical activity were 1.7 times as likely to be satisfied as those with less physical activity (95% CI 1.284–2.151). Participants with sufficient daily FV intake were 1.3 times as likely to be satisfied with life as those with insufficient daily FV (95% CI 0.994–1.723). Life satisfaction score also differed significantly by sociodemographic characteristics (sex, age, marital status, educational attainment) and presence of chronic disease. Conclusions To improve the life satisfaction of older persons, taking into account sociodemographic characteristics of the population and absence of chronic disease, the need for promotion of healthy lifestyle behaviors, especially regular physical activity and sufficient FV intake, must be recommended.
