Based on all discussed, we can clearly indicate that in the city of Batumi, the oral - health of children, coming from socially vulnerable families, are not satisfactory, which at the later stage leads to several diseases. The reasons behind this development are the followings: the low educational rate and non-accessibility to dental and financial assistance services. Recommendations for overcoming this problem include: 1. Increasing accessibility to dental services; 2. Providing high quality medical services, in general; 3. Establishing State - Private cooperation model.

National studies indicate that an increasing proportion of children are receiving needed oral health care. However, this increase is not uniform throughout all populations of youngsters. Overall national study findings regarding the use of dental services mask the fact that, a significant subset of low-income, minority, medically and developmentally compromised and socially vulnerable children continue to lack access to care and suffer significant and consequential dental and oral disease. In addition, these same children will face continued difficulties in securing needed care as they reach their early adult years.

Dentistry is an area of medical services that almost the entire population turns to for help. As a result, there is a huge demand for dental services, which leads to an increase in the number of commercial dental clinics. However, public dental clinics also have paid departments, which are no less in demand than commercial dental clinics. And if the staff and equipment paid offices are provided no worse than similar commercial structures, but the provision of specialized software leaves much to be desired. Therefore, the development of the algorithm and model of the functioning of the information system for the paid department of the stomatological polyclinic is relevant. The proposed algorithm and model formed the basis for the developed software of the information system for the paid department of the city dental clinic.

UNSTRUCTURED Background: Pregnancy is associated with the development of oral cavity disorders and diseases due to the increase in the levels of the hormones Estrogen and Progesterone, which predispose the oral cavity of the pregnant woman to diseases. Some of the common self-reported oral diseases in pregnancy are gingivitis, dental caries, periodontitis, pregnancy tumors and many more. In most developing countries research on the oral health during pregnancy has not been done leading to limited information to general public. The main objective of this study is to determine the self-reported oral diseases, oral hygiene and utilization of oral health services among pregnant women attending antenatal clinic at New Masala Clinic. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 208 pregnant women attending antenatal clinic at New Masala Clinic of Ndola town. All participants completed a questionnaire with following parameters; socio-demographics, self-oral care, oral symptoms during pregnancy and utilization of oral health services during pregnancy. The data collected was then analyzed using SPSS software version 20 statistical software. Chi-square test was used to determine significant associations. Results: over one third of participants reported to experience bleeding gums, 85.1% reported to have been brushing regularly at least twice or more daily. None (0%) used floss while majority (80.3%) of the participants reported use of toothpick. Majority (80.8%) had never visited a dentist in their entire life while 7.2% of the participants reported to have visited a dental clinic in less than 1 year ago. Majority (99%)of the participants had never visited a dentist during their pregnancy Conclusion and recommendations: Despite the high level of self-reported oral care among pregnant women there is great need for radical sensitization and awareness about oral health during pregnancy and utilization of dental services among pregnant women. Social economic status and education back ground do not influence dental services utilization or development of oral health diseases and. However the age of gestation has great influence of the development of certain oral symptoms and diseases.

ABSTRACTBackground: The utilization rate is the use of dental and oral health which can be calculated using the number of National Healthcare Security (BPJS) patients per month compared to the number of BPJS participants multiplied by 100%Method: This study was an observational study used cross sectiona design and nominal data scale that produced quantitative data which was carried out by analysing the Pcare data started from March-August 2019 in eight primary clinics of Jepara City and District. Before conducted the study, Ethics Review No.098 / b.1-KEPK / SA-FKG / VII / 2019 was done.Result: The results of the utilization rate study based on the visit rates, Armina Pratama Clinic was 1.585%, Multisari II Pratama Clinic was 0.665%, Sentra Husada Pratama Clinic was 0.68%, Jepara General Pratama Clinic was 2.329%, Yasmin Medika Pratama Clinic was 2.173%, Hanis Pratama Clinic was 0.752%, Az-Zahra pratama clinic 2.945%, and Armina Denta pratama clinic was 1.885%.Conclusion: In conclusion, the utilization rate based on pratama clinic visits in the city and the regency of Jepara was still in the low to the ideal category. Meanwhile, the utilization rate based on the referral numbers of pratama clinic in the city and the regency of Jepara was far from the standard value

Background: It is known that hormonal imbalances during pregnancy make women more susceptible to dental problems. High levels of progesterone and estrogen during pregnancy, lead to an increased inflammatory response to dental plaque thus causing predisposing to gum diseases such as gingivitis. If untreated, gingivitis leads to chronic periodontitis which may manifest systemically in form of cardiovascular, endocrine or even respiratory disorders. Also, hyperacidity in the oral cavity due to gastric reflux and vomiting leads to decreased pH thus damaging the tooth enamel making the oral cavity more prone to tooth decay and tooth loss. Studies also show that periodontal disease can also lead to adverse pregnancy outcomes such as pre-term and low birth weight babies. Objectives: We sought to understand the role of oral health in pregnancy. Methods: We identified major articles of interest in the field of oral health in pregnancy and drafted a mini-symposium based on relevant information. Conclusion: Regular dental visits and cognizant efforts to sustain a healthy oral environment can help women in the prevention and treatment of dental issues during pregnancy. The paper highlights the common oral manifestations during pregnancy and their local and systemic impact on the body during pregnancy. Furthermore, it also emphasizes the importance of good oral health practices to counteract the oral complications and the significance of oral health awareness in pregnant women.

Unsafe sanitation is an increasing public health concern for rapidly expanding cities in low-income countries. Understanding household demand for improved sanitation infrastructure is critical for planning effective sanitation investments. In this study, we compared the stated and revealed willingness to pay (WTP) for high-quality, pour-flush latrines among households in low-income areas in the city of Nakuru, Kenya. We found that stated WTP for high-quality, pour-flush latrines was much lower than market prices: less than 5% of households were willing to pay the full costs, which we estimated between 87,100–82,900 Kenyan Shillings (KES), or 871–829 USD. In addition, we found large discrepancies between stated and revealed WTP. For example, 90% of households stated that they would be willing to pay a discounted amount of 10,000 KES (100 USD) for a high-quality, pour-flush latrine, but only 10% of households redeemed vouchers at this price point (paid via six installment payments). Households reported that financial constraints (i.e., lack of cash, other spending priorities) were the main barriers to voucher redemption, even at highly discounted prices. Our results emphasize the importance of financial interventions that address the sizable gaps between the costs of sanitation products and customer demand among low-income populations.

The aim is to analyze protective and modifying factors (e.g., vulnerability, resilience, sense of coherence) in relation to the utilization of dental services by seniors at different levels of the healthcare system. Terminological imprecision in the use and transfer of existing terms (sense of coherence, resilience, salutogenesis) to gerodontology is clarified. Factors influencing a reduced utilization (static/dynamic factors) can occur isolated or in combination and, thus, model the risk of a reduced utilization of dental services (influencing-factor mechanism). Protective factors of utilization include patient-specific factors for self-motivation and factors that promote oral-health-related resilience. Resistance forces that counteract can be identified as oral-health-related resilience factors. Achieving social and individual appreciation and establishing a prevention-oriented approach to utilization will be increasingly challenging, since the population is becoming older and access is not equal in terms of opportunity. Resistance forces need to be strengthened in an ethical context. Studies should increasingly present resilience processes, determinants and modes of action at the various interfaces in the healthcare system, which can ensure sustainable medical care in old age. The concepts conveyed here are generally valid and able to point out inequalities and ageism in access to dental services.

AbstractProbiotics are the living microorganisms that have been commonly used in the prevention of gastrointestinal disorders. In recent times, probiotic and prebiotics have been used to assess and develop a natural balance of the microbial flora in the respiratory tract and the oral cavity as an adjunct therapy. They are known to augment the existing microbial flora that is beneficial to the host. Prebiotics are nondigestible food ingredients that help in increasing populations of probiotic bacteria. Recent studies have shown that probiotics help in active reduction in gingivitis, dental caries, periodontitis, and halitosis by replacing the harmful oral species, by means of utilizing abundant health-associated oral microbial species. Additionally, the nitrate-reducing bacteria have shown promising effect in improving efficiency of probiotic strains to accentuate oral health benefits. Probiotics along with prebiotics effectively alter the host–microbial interface by achieving homeostasis in multifactorial diseases such as periodontal diseases and oral malodor. The aim of the review is to collate the existing information available on use of probiotics and prebiotics in oral cavity.
