Aim: Present study attempts to assess the correlation between co-dependency and quality of marital life among wives of alcohol dependence clients. Materials and Methods: Descriptivecorrelational design with a non-probability purposive sampling method was used. The sample of this study comprised of 50 wives of clients with alcohol dependence admitted to the Deaddiction center. Data was collected using the Socio-demographic proforma, co-dependency scale, and marital quality scale to assess the correlation between the level of co-dependency and quality of marital life. Results: In this study, the result shows that the sample's co-dependency scale indicates that 8% of respondents were moderately co-dependent and 92% were highly co-dependent, and none of them were completely independent. The quality of marital life scale shows that 78% were moderately affected, 20% have severely affected, and the remaining 2% were mildly affected by marital quality. The computed value of Karl Pearson’s correlation coefficient was + 0.627. So this shows there exists a positive correlation between co-dependency and the Quality of Marital life. Analysis of socio-demographic variables with co-dependency level shows no significance, and quality of marital life showed a significant association between husbands' educations, duration of husband’s alcoholism, duration of stay in the de-addiction center, number of children. Thus the study result revealed a positive correlation between the level of Co-dependency and quality of marital life. Conclusion: The study's findings revealed a positive correlation between the level of co-dependency and quality of marital life among wives of clients with alcohol dependence. Key words: Co-dependency, Quality of marital life, Alcohol dependence.

Spouses are particularly affected given the intimate nature of their relationship and constant exposure to the behaviour of the dependent persons. Quality of life has emerged as an important treatment outcome measure for alcohol and opioid dependence whose natural course comprises of remission and relapse. Objective: To assess the quality of life, marital adjustment and among the patients of alcohol and opioid dependence syndrome. Materials and Methods: This was a cross sectional hospital based study and included 100 treatment seeking population 50 each with alcohol dependence and opioid dependence as per ICD-10 criteria. The participants were purposively selected and informed consent were taken. Research tools were Hindi version of Kansas Marital Satisfaction scale and WHOQOL-BREF. Results: The mean age of the participants were 34.87 +12.48 years. The study did not observe a signicant difference in the overall domains of quality of life. Except the overall health domain, quality of life was more in alcohol subjects as compared to opioid subjects (p < 0.05). There was a signicant difference in the marital quality of life which was lower in opioid dependence than alcohol dependence subjects. Conclusion: Improved marital adjustment are most important part of improved quality of life and its sustainability plays key role in preventing relapse and reaching to the recuperation. Effective management for the alcohol and opioid patients must include the marital intervention to improve the recovery and rehabilitation of the patients.

Abstract Each marriage is the beginning of multiple intergenerational in-law relationships. Drawing on a survey of 351 women about their relationships with their mothers-in-law (MILs), this article reports on the impact of family triangles and boundary ambiguity on the quality of the relationship. In a three-block regression analysis, predicting a seven-item relationship quality scale, the first block included six demographic variables. The second and third blocks included three survey items each of reported relationship triangles and boundary ambiguity in a woman’s interactions with her MIL. Results revealed that although the couple having children predicted worse relationship quality in the demographic block, that result was no longer significant once family triangle measures were entered. All three measures of boundary ambiguity were also significant. The three measures of boundary ambiguity eclipsed two of the three family triangles when entered in the third block, leaving only the daughter-in-law feeling comfortable going directly to the MIL about important issues still significant.

Background:Menopause can have adverse effects on the quality of life of postmenopausal women. The main purpose of this study was to determine the Validity and Reliability of the Persian version of the Utian Quality of Life Scale (UQOL) in iranian postmenopausal women in 2019 Methods: The questionnaire was first translated into Persian. After its adaptation with the original version and backward translating it into English, the face and content validity were assessed by a group of experienced experts. To this end, exploratory factor analysis was performed by Principal Factor Analysis method with varimax rotation. Convergent validity was assessed by correlating the Persian version of UQOL and the 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36). Finally, the mean quality of life score of postmenopausal women in different domains as well as its mean in different domains based on age, education level, menopausal age, and number of children were calculated. Results: Regarding reliability, the alpha coefficient was obtained 0.66 for occupation domain, 0.52 for health domain, 0.50 for emotional domain, and 0.90 for sex domain. There was a significant relationship between quality of life and age, menopausal age, occupation and number of children in all domains in menopausal women. There was a significant relationship between BMI and quality of life score in postmenopausal women only in physical health domain. Conclusion:it seems this questionnaire can’t be used in research on the quality of life of postmenopausal women.
