Modular distance learning is indispensable and using digital assessment as a method to measure students' progress is essential as the Philippines education system shifted from face to face classes to distance learning this time of pandemic. The main purpose of this study was to describe the lived experiences of the students about digital assessment in mathematics under modular distance learning. This study utilized Qualitative Research Design, Hermeneutic Phenomenological method which involved 15 students. There were four emerging categories and eventually formed nine major themes:(1) Educational Involvement (2) Learners Engagement (3) Support (4) Educational Tool Refinement. While the emerging major themes were 1) students experience digital assessment tool predicament in mathematics (2) difficulty grasping the topic through teachers’ instructional method (3) students have a proclivity to engage in academic dishonesty (4) procrastination and cramming are common among students during exams (5) learners have become passive to their own learning development (6) students' internet connections at home are inadequate (7) students are unable to focus during the exam as a result of the destructive environment (8) Digital Assessment tool commendation and new preference is evident among the students (9) Students have learned to appreciate the worth of their time and work. Information security is imperative for state colleges and universities (SUCs) to have a sound information security in protecting their information assets, enhancing institutional reputation and ensuring compliance with the law. This paper presents the level of implementation of information security in the state colleges and universities (SUCs) in the Philippines. Data  used  was  based  on questionnaire adapted from the Information Security Governance (ISG) Assessment Tool for Higher Education(EDUCAUSE/Internet2 Security Task 2004) and was  distributed  to  a  total  of  30  individuals  who  are  responsible  in managing and keeping  the  information assets of the SUCS. Findings revealed that information security is not yet fully implemented among the SUCS, this is a clear indication of failure or disaster, and these institutions are vulnerable to information security threats. SUCs are encouraged to implement comprehensive information security program at a strategic level involving the board of regents and top executives for safety and security.

ABSTRACT Aim The E4D Compare software is an innovative tool that provides immediate feedback to students’ projects and competencies. It should provide consistent scores even when different scanners are used which may have inherent subtle differences in calibration. This study aimed to evaluate potential discrepancies in evaluation using the E4D Compare software based on four different NEVO scanners in dental anatomy projects. Additionally, correlation between digital and visual scores was evaluated. Materials and methods Thirty-five projects of maxillary left central incisors were evaluated. Among these, thirty wax-ups were performed by four operators and five consisted of standard dentoform teeth. Five scores were obtained for each project: one from an instructor that visually graded the project and from four different NEVO scanners. A faculty involved in teaching the dental anatomy course blindly scored the 35 projects. One operator scanned all projects to four NEVO scanners (D4D Technologies, Richardson, TX, USA). The images were aligned to the gold standard, and tolerance set at 0.3 mm to generate a score. The score reflected percentage match between the project and the gold standard. One-way ANOVA with repeated measures was used to determine whether there was a significant difference in scores among the four NEVO scanners. Paired-sample t-test was used to detect any difference between visual scores and the average scores of the four NEVO scanners. Pearson's correlation test was used to assess the relationship between visual and average scores of NEVO scanners. Results There was no significant difference in mean scores among four different NEVO scanners [F(3, 102) = 2.27, p = 0.0852 one-way ANOVA with repeated measures]. Moreover, the data provided strong evidence that a significant difference existed between visual and digital scores (p = 0.0217; a pairedsample t-test). Mean visual scores were significantly lower than digital scores (72.4 vs 75.1). Pearson's correlation coefficient of 0.85 indicated a strong correlation between visual and digital scores (p < 0.0001). Conclusion The E4D Compare software provides consistent scores even when different scanners are used and correlates well with visual scores. Clinical significance The use of innovative digital assessment tools in dental education is promising with the E4D Compare software correlating well with visual scores and providing consistent scores even when different scanners are used. The MIMI project was initiated by the DSI in partnership with the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), the HSRC and UKZN. The purpose of this initiative was to develop an innovative tool capable of assessing and measuring the innovation landscape in municipalities, thus enabling municipalities to adopt innovative practices to improve service delivery. The outcome of the implementation testing, based on the participation of 22 municipalities, demonstrated the value and the capacity of MIMI to produce innovation maturity scores for municipalities. The digital assessment tool looked at how a municipality, as an organisation, responds to science, technology and innovation (STI) linked to service delivery, and the innovation capabilities and readiness of the municipality and the officials themselves. The tool is also designed to recommend areas of improvements in adopting innovative practices and nurturing an innovation mindset for impactful municipal service delivery. The plan going forward is to conduct learning forums to train municipal officials on how to use the MIMI digital platform, inform them about the nationwide implementation rollout plan and support municipal officials to engage in interactive and shared learnings to allow them to move to higher innovation maturity levels. The virtual launch featured a keynote address by the DSI Director-General, Dr Phil Mjwara; Prof Mehmet Akif Demircioglu from the National University of Singapore gave an international perspective on innovation measurements in the public sector; and messages of support were received from MIMI partners, delivered by Prof Mosa Moshabela, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) of Research at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and Prof Leickness Simbayi, Acting CEO of the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC). Background: Transitioning is a common phenomenon that happens such as in a career shift provoked by either internal or external factors. This phenomenon also occurs to nurses becoming lawyers. Considering its complexity, such transition entails a process.Purpose: This study aimed to describe and uncover the preparations, motivations, ad barriers of nurses who transitioned into nurse-lawyers in the Philippines. Methods: The study employed descriptive-qualitative research design utilizing twenty participants selected through purposive and snowball or referral sampling techniques. A semi-structured interview guide was used for the data collection using Google form. Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis was utilized as the primary treatment of the transcribed data. Strict observance of ethical standards in conducting research was ensured.Results: The study found out several themes and subcategories from the thematic analysis conducted. These included (1) “pre-planning emotive expressions”; (2) “motivations of career shift”; (3) “support mechanisms to afford career shift”; (4) “barriers to career shift”; (5) “the interconnectedness of law and nursing”; and (6) “impacts of the career shift.” Conclusion: Generally, the career shift of the nurse-lawyers presented significant themes pertinent to their preparations, motivations, and barriers in becoming lawyers. Apparently, these are all primordial in the career transition of the nurse-lawyers. Essentially, the study provides preliminary findings that may become springboard in the construction of a grounded theory that would explicate the transition of the nurse-lawyers as a phenomenon uniting and expanding nursing and the practice of law as complementary sciences.

Kahoot is a relatively new e-learning education tool.The data on its effectiveness in classroom teaching for plant biotechnology is scarce and limited. Hence the current research was aimed at incorporating Kahoot in classroom activity in plant biotechnology learning and to assess the effectiveness of Kahoot in the learning process. Qualitative research method was adopted in this study to investigate the applicability of the Kahoot!, the digital assessment tool, in Mattayom 1 (1st Grade Junior High School). Using data collection methods such as qualitative research , observation,  document analysis. There are 45 Participants from Mattayom 1/12  in Hatyaiwittayalaisomboonkulkannya School. Based on pre test and post test average value we can assessed effectiveness of Kahoot as an e-learning tool in Biotechnology learning. Pre test is assessment before using Kahoot. We can see that before we used Kahoot average value of test is 55,95 and after we used Kahoot average value of test is 81,92. Kahoot has made students’ learning easy, enjoyable, and interactive and helped them to understand the subject better. Kahoot is an excellent e-learning tool that provides a positive environment in the classroom, increases energy, concentration, and knowledge. It can motivate the students to learn in a fun filled, enjoyable, and friendly competitive environment.   Key words: Kahoot, Digital learning, Assessment.

Open and distance learning systems (ODLS) brought about immeasurable advancement in the delivery of education. Albeit all the benefits ODLS offers, there are some issues that need to be addressed. One of the most prevalent issues is the problem of persistent academic dishonesty. Much research effort has been devoted to explain why students commit acts of dishonesty, but there is limited research done on why faculty members do not take on a stronger position against it. This chapter offers cases of ODLS misconducts at an American University, the process that faculty members took to document academic dishonesty, the appeals process used by students, and the consequences of dishonesty. This chapter provides insights from faculty faced with dishonesty. It also addresses what administrators should do to support their faculty in curbing dishonesty in their institutions.

&lt;p&gt;The Philippines is known for its rich marine biodiversity and is deemed as the apex of the world&amp;#8217;s coral triangle. However, sediment yield studies and river discharge measurements in the country are sparse if not non-existent. High sediment rates have detrimental effects on water quality and consequently to coral reef health and marine biodiversity. Thus, modeling of runoff and sediment yield at a watershed level is important in assessing coral community environments.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;In this study, a Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) based sediment yield simulation was done for Lanuza Bay-- a site with high productivity but increasing mining activity. Two simulations were conducted. The first utilized a land-use map before January 2011 and was made to run from January 1998 to August 2018 in order to simulate a scenario in which mining operations did not occur in the area. The second simulation utilized an updated land-use map that incorporated mining sites from January 2011 to August 2018.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;SWAT model results indicate that slope class was the primary determinant of erosion rates (slope band &gt; 20%). The study suggests that consecutive precipitation occurrences affected soil erodability and induced a time lag between precipitation and sediment yield peaks. The highest contributors to sediment yield at a sub-basin level were identified to be areas adjacent to or coinciding in mining or excavation sites. Comparing the scenarios with and without mining, mining contributed to 4% of the increase in the watershed&amp;#8217;s total annual sediment yield.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Qualitative and historical validation shows reasonable agreement between simulated values and satellite images. The output of this study can be used as a science-based reference in crafting laws and policies for land-use management and Marine Protected Area (MPA) planning.&lt;/p&gt;

Background: While organ transplantation is a common surgical procedure worldwide, it is yet well-examined how the recipients of newly-transplanted organs adapt and accept a new organ from another body. Adaptation and acceptance of a vital organ from another person is a complex phenomenon, and medical staff needs to delve into this issue to provide appropriate care. Objectives: The present study aimed to explore the transplant recipients' experiences of adaptation to the transplanted organ. Method: A qualitative research design with a hermeneutic phenomenological approach was adopted in this study. In-depth unstructured interviews were conducted by one of the authors (Z. S.) in different locations across Iran. The purposive sampling method was used to select 20 transplant recipients (n = 4 kidney transplantation; n = 10 heart transplantation; n = 4 liver transplantations; and n= 2 blood transfusion). Results: The constitutive pattern emerged from the data was ‘Psychological adaptation to transplanted organ’, with three themes (namely ‘Alien organ,’ ‘Ensure of being the patch of togetherness,’ and ‘Durability of new organ in body’) and several sub-themes. Conclusions: According to the organ recipients' experiences, it takes time for the recipients to accept another person's organ as their own. The transplant team members need to openly and proactively discuss the many psychological and spiritual issues to which the newly-transplanted organ recipients are exposed to facilitate the adaptation and acceptance of the new organs.
