Hepatitis A and B presenting as acute glomerulonephritis is rare in pediatric age group. In children it is necessary to recognize glomerulonephritis early in the course of disease so as to prevent long term morbidity. Cases described in this report indicate that children presenting with acute glomerulonephritis must be investigated for viral hepatitis. Keywords: Glomerulonephritis, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B.

Abstract Background People living in settlement projects represent an emergent rural population in Brazil. Data on their health is scarce and there are no data on viral hepatitis in this population. This study investigated the epidemiology of viral hepatitis A-E in residents of settlement projects in central Brazil. Methods During 2011 and 2012, 923 people living in rural settlements in central Brazil were interviewed and tested to estimate the prevalence of exposure to viral hepatitis A-E, to identify the circulating hepatitis B virus (HBV)/hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotypes and risk factors for HBV exposure and to evaluate adherence to the hepatitis B vaccination series. Results Overall, 85.9, 3.9, 0.4 and 17.3% of individuals showed evidence of exposure to hepatitis A virus (HAV), hepatitis E virus, HCV and HBV, respectively. Among HBV-DNA positive samples (n=8), subgenotypes A1 (n=3) and A2 (n=1) and genotype D/subgenotype D3 (n=4) were identified. Hepatitis D virus superinfection was detected in 0/16 HBsAg-positive participants. A total of 229 individuals showed serological evidence of HBV vaccination. In total, 442 settlers were eligible for vaccination, but only 150 individuals completed the vaccine series. All anti-HCV-positive samples (n=4) were also HCV-RNA positive and identified as subtype 1a. Conclusions The intermediate endemicity of HAV, the higher prevalence of HBV exposure compared with urban areas and the low compliance with HBV vaccination requires preventive measures focused on rural populations, emphasizing the need for HAV and HBV vaccination.

AbstractWe report a fatal tracheoinnominate artery fistula (TIF) in a 13-year-old female patient with long-term tracheostomy tube dependence due to chronic respiratory failure. Thirteen years after placement of her tracheostomy tube, the patient experienced two separate episodes of sentinel bleeding prior to a fatal hemorrhagic event. Diagnostic evaluation after the sentinel events was mostly nonconclusive. This case highlights the risk of TIF in pediatric age group, even years after initial tracheostomy tube placement, and the need for a high index of suspicion for TIF when children present with unexplained tracheal bleeding.

Background: Hepatitis-A virus (HAV) and Hepatitis E virus (HEV) are two major hepatotropic viruses of great public health importance in the developing countries like India. Both HAV and HEV are enterically transmitted and there are speculations that their co-infection might be associated with a more severe clinical course and increased rate of mortality. The objective of this study is to determine the prevalence, clinical features and biochemical parameters of Hepatitis A and Hepatitis E co-infection in hospitalized patients at a tertiary care centre in Uttarakhand. Methods: It is a retrospective study, covering a period of 4years and conducted in Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, SRHU Jolly Grant, Dehradun. Records of the patients with Hepatitis A and Hepatitis E co-infection were retrieved and analyzed. Results: Out of total 125 patients of acute viral hepatitis, 13 patients had HAV and HEV co-infection. 100% of the patients with co-infection presented with complaints of fever and jaundice, followed by 76.92% with vomiting, 69.23% with pruritis, 61.53% with pain in abdomen and 23.07% with altered sensorium. Mean Bilirubin, ALT, AST were 8.69±7.27 mg/dl, 2030.69±1726.93IU/L and 1880.07±1881.11IU/L respectively. Average duration of stay was 8.2 days. Encephalopathy was seen in 2 patients. However, no mortality was reported. Conclusions: Co-infection of HAV and HEV is not rare in pediatric age group. Knowledge about this will be of immense help for planning of future vaccination strategies and for better sanitation program in developing countries like India.

Viral hepatitis A is the most widespread form of acute viral hepatitis in the world and one of the most important medico-social problems of public health care. The existing ecologic problems of the Crimea demand more careful studying of regularities of epidemic process of hepatitis A on the peninsula to provide epidemiological well-being of the population and visitors. Retrospective epidemiologic analysis of long-term and annual dynamic of viral hepatitis A incidence in Crimea Republic in 2005-2014 had been carried out on the basis of statistical data of Interregional Department of Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. It is revealed that The prevalence of adults in structure ofpatients, leveling ofperiodicity and expressed tendency to reducing of morbidity were revealed to be features of hepatitis A on the peninsula.

Sera from 95 adolescents were examined for markers of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and hepatitis A virus (HAV) infection. HBV markers were found in eight adolescents (8%) and evidence of previous HAV infection was found in 18 adolescetits (19%); none had a history of clinically recognizable hepatitis. These findings support the growing evidence that HBV and HAV infections are diseases of the pediatric age group, amid that testing of HBV vaccines when they become available for patient use will have to include a pediatric population.

Role of parents is very crucial as children adopt the behavior and lifestyle which are followed by their parents in pediatrics population. In pediatric age group the world of children is only their parents, so if parents have no time for them, they feel lonely and anxious. Also parents over expectation, careless nature towards their child are the causes of psychological disorders in pediatric age group. Aim - To establish the relationship between parent’s behaviour and children psychology. Material and Methods - Literature review of psychology of children from classics by considering its different aspects, scholarly articles and information on internet has been referred thoroughly. Discussion and Conclusion - Overburden of parents expectation, loneliness, parents unhealthy relationship are responsible for increasing stress which leads to persistence of disease of pediatric age. Whatever the etiological factors including the genetic predisposition and course of disease pathology, the physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being of the parents, proper nutrition of the mother during pregnancy and after birth of child and practice of a wholesome regimen, play a prime role in achieving a healthy offspring. All the protocol mentioned in classics are very cost effective and easy to administer even in today’s life style, and therefore have very crucial role to prevent the psychological diseases in pediatric age group.
