This trial aimed to evaluate effects of stocking densities of 1-5 fish/m2 on growth performance, survival rate and economic efficiency of Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer) in earthen ponds. Fish with an initial length of 90.7 ± 0.1 mm and weight of 20.8 ± 0.1 g/fish and ponds with 600 m2 each and 1.5 m depth were used for this study. Experiment was designed with three treatments, including different stocking densities of 1, 3 and 5 fish/m2. The fish was fed with pellete feed containing 43 - 44% crude protein. Water quality parameters including temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, salinity, transparency and ammonia concentration were measured once a week. Fish were sampled every 30-day intervals for length and weight measurement then for their growth estimation. Costs were recorded for economic efficiency estimation. Results showed that the water quality parameters were in suitable ranges for growth and development of Asian seabass. The final average length and weight of density 1 fish/m2 was significantly higher than those at 3 and 5 fish/m2 (P < 0.05). However, there was no significant difference on the fish growth in terms of daily length and weight gain, as well as survival rate and feed conversion ratio between different stocking densities. Asian seabass culture at 3 and 5 fish/m2 resulted in a higher profit compared to at 1 fish/m2. The highest economic efficiency in terms of area pond was showed at 5 fish/m2 treatment.

Temperature is one of the most dominant water quality parameters on the survival of fish, and almost every living organism has the optimum temperature for its life. One of the obstacles in the cultivation activity is the high level of death in the most critical phase of the larvae so that the handling and carrying capacity of optimal environmental conditions can minimize the death of the larvae as well as the extreme temperature changes will also cause higher death rates of larvae. In the maintenance effort, the quality and quantity of the resulting larva becomes an important factor, as the success of production support to reach the next phase. Therefore, to find out the larval synthesis is done research about the optimum temperature with treatment temperature 240C, 260C, 280C and 300C to the survival of maintenance of botia larvae (Chromobotia macrachantus). The water quality parameters of CO2, NH3, DO, and pH are carried out at the beginning and end of the study for 28 days. The results showed that the highest survival rate at temperature treatment 240C and 260C with a value of 100%.Keywords : Botia Larvae, Temperature, Survival Rate AbstrakSuhu merupakan salah satu parameter kualitas air yang sangat dominan terhadap kelangsungan hidup ikan, dan hampir setiap organisme yang hidup didalamnya memiliki suhu optimum untuk kehidupannya. Salah satu kendala dalam kegiatan budidaya adalah tingginya tingkat kematian pada fase paling kritis yaitu larva sehingga penanganan dan daya dukung kondisi lingkungan yang optimal dapat meminimalisir kematian larva demikian pula dengan perubahan suhu yang ekstrim juga akan menyebabkan tingkat kematian larva semakin tinggi. Dalam upaya pemeliharaan, kualitas dan kuantitas larva yang dihasilkan menjadi faktor penting, sebagai penunjang keberhasilan produksi  hingga mencapai fase selanjutnya. Oleh karena itu, untuk mengetahui sintasan larva dilakukan penelitian mengenai suhu optimal dengan suhu perlakuan 240C, 260C, 280C dan 300C terhadap kelangsungan hidup pemeliharaan larva ikan botia (Chromobotia macrachantus). Parameter kualitas air yitu CO2, NH3, DO, dan pH dilakukan pada awal dan akhir penelitian yang dilakukan selama 28 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kelangsungan hidup tertinggi pada perlakuan suhu 240C dan 260C dengan nilai sebesar 100%.Kata Kunci : Larva Botia, Suhu,Tingkat Kelangsungan Hidup

Comparative study on African catfish hypophysation indices using ovaprim and chicken pituitary gland extract (CPGE) was carried out. Sixteen (16) African catfish brood stocks between 1100 and 2300 g in ratio 2:1 and four (4) numbers of layer birds (Gallus gallus domesticus) between 1200 and 2200 g in ratio 1:3 were used respectively. The experiment was batched into “A” and “B”. Batch ‘A’ was placed on ovaprim while batch ‘B’ was placed on CPGE. An indoor hatchery vat, measuring 0.6096 m x 1.8288 m x 0.3048 m each was used for the incubation. Digital measuring kits were used to monitor water quality parameters and measurement of the brood stocks weights independently. Brood stocks on ovaprim and CPGE treatments had the following mean hypophysation indices in these order: fecundity (11100±7690 and 17760±13863), latency period (9.53±0.54 and 9.77±0.49), fertilization percentage (94.03±5.90% and 90.6±10.11%), hatchability percentage (75.6±0.81% and79.35±10.27%), number of eggs produced (5889±657.37 and 9403.33±589.80), total number of larvae hatched (4717.33±1111.0 and 7111.33±506.64), SGR (0.67±0.31 and 1.1±0.31), and survival rate (64.81±0.71 and66.24±2.19) respectively. There was no significant difference (p = 0.05) in the mean values of fecundity, latency period, fertilization and hatchability percentages in both treatments but there was significant difference (p ≤ 0.05) in number of eggs produced and total number of larvae hatched in both treatments. The water quality parameters were within the range for induced breeding techniques and there was no significant difference (p= 0.05) in both experiments. Both ovaprim and CPGE had excellent results from the induced breeding of Clarias gariepinus and yielded good results. Therefore, CPGE could be recommended from the view point of excellent results and its availability from chicken slaughter houses as against ovaprim which are imported.

The present study evaluated the effects of stocking density on water quality parameters, growth performance and survival rate of white leg shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei, reared in fiberglass tanks, without water exchange. Three stocking densities (50, 100 and 200 shrimp/m2) were tested. Each treatment consisted of three replicates fiberglass tanks (500 L). The shrimp were fed ad libitum four times per day with a commercial pellet (40-42% protein). After an 8-week trial, concentrations of nutrients in the culture tanks showed an increasing linear relationship with increasing stocking density. The growth performance of shrimp in low stocking densities was significantly greater than that in high stocking densities. The results from this study demonstrate that with increasing the stocking density the production of shrimp increased but in a low final weight and survival compared to low stocking density.

Growth performance and survival of Tor putitora fry under different stocking densities were evaluated fry rearing system. The experimental period was 10 weeks from 31 December to 10 March 2019. The experiment was carried out in nine earthen ponds of 0.04 ha each under three treatments with three replications.  Thirty days old fry were stocked at the rate of 1.0X105/ha was designated as treatment- 1 (T1), 1.5X105/ha` as treatment- 2 (T2) and 2.0X105/ha as treatment- 3 (T3), respectively. Fry were fed with commercially available nursery feed containing 32% crude protein. It was observed that, lower stocking density showed highest daily weight gain in T1 (growth 0.066 ± 0.006 g/day) compared with higher stocking density in T2 (growth 0.044 ± 0.004 g/day) and T3 (growth 0.024 ± 0.003 g/day), respectively. It is also noticed that, the lower stocking showed the highest survival rate (79.66 ± 4.34 %) than the other two treatments (66.97±3.67 and 54.67± 3.12 %). The values of different water quality parameters were within the optimum ranges for the rearing of carp fry. Water quality parameters did not show significant variations in the experimental ponds under different stocking densities. Among these three stocking densities lower stocking density (T1) showed the best result compare with the other two higher stocking densities.

This study aims to analyze the effect of red paprika flour in fish feed to increase the color intensity of the Comet fish juvenile. The research method used a Complete Randomized Design experiment consist of four treatments and three replicates. The treatments consisted of various levels of addition red pepper extract, namely treatment A (0%), B (3%), C (5%) and D (7%). The investigation includes color intensity of the fish. Survival rate and water quality parameters data were also taken. The color observation data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis analysis, if there was a significant difference, the Z test was performed. The results of this study indicated that the addition of 5% red paprika extract to the feed was the best treatment with an increase in the color intensity level of comet fish at 4.71. While the comet fish Survival Rate (SR) data in all treatments were observed to be 100% and the water quality during the maintenance period was in the optimal range and met the standards. The average temperature value was 24.7-26.4ºC, DO 5.6-5.8 mg/L and pH 6.67-7.53.

With the target of increasing the shrimp (Penaeus monodon) production through farm development and improved grow out management, an experiment was conducted with three different stocking densities viz. 5/m2 (T1), 7/m2 (T2) and 9/m2 (T3). Results of the experiment revealed that, among the water quality parameters, values of dissolved oxygen and transparency were lower in the higher stocking densities with significant difference (p<0.05) among the treatments. Other water quality parameters were similar in all the treatments. Bacterial load in bottom sediment had the trend to increase with increasing culture period and showed significant difference (p<0.05) among the treatments with the highest in the higher stocking density. Soil pH in the end sample reduced a little bit in all the treatments than the initial. Deposition of organic matter, phosphorus and nitrogen was related to the respective stocking densities. Final weight gain and survival rate of shrimp were significantly (p<0.05) higher in T1 than in T2 and T3. Stocking density of 5/m2 showed the highest production of 759.14±19.002 kg/ha, which was significantly (P<0.05) higher than that of 670.77±16.078 kg/ha obtained in T2, but similar to 701.24±33.507 kg/ha obtained in T3. The net economic return and BCR was also significantly higher (p<0.05) in the same stocking density (5/m2) compared to others. Whereas, FCR value was significantly lower (p<0.05) in T1 than the other two treatments. However, pond ecological conditions were more congenial for shrimp culture in lower stocking density (5/m2), which minimized the risk of disease outbreak in the respective stocking density, keeping the culture environment favorable. Abstract Salinity is one of the most critical environmental parameters regarding fish physiology, modifying food intake and growth performance in many fish species. The present study has investigated the effects of different salinity levels on growth performance, feeding and survival of Asian seabass Lates calcarifer juveniles. Asian seabass juveniles were reared at 0, 5, 22, 36, and 42 ppt salinity. One five hundred ninety-eight fish individuals with an average weight 1.2 ± 0.11 g were randomly distributed (166 fish/Tank) in 5 concrete tanks (30×6×4 feet) each; length × width × depth) and volume 19,122 L, for total forty days. Initially feeding rate of 6% biomass per day with 42% crude protein-containing diets daily. The feeding rate adjusted according to fish biomass every week. The results showed that salinity level had a significant effect on the weight gain, average daily weight gain, specific growth rate, feed conversion ratio, survival rate, total biomass and health indices (p < 0.05). The highest WG (39.11±1.49 g), ADWG, (1.00±0.12 g), SGR (8.74±0.03 % d-1) and lowest FCR (0.96±0.20) observed with T3 (22 ppt salinity) treatment, which was significantly higher compared to other treatment groups (p < 0.05). Among the health indices, the highest hepatosomatic index and viscerosomatic index found with 22 ppt salinity treatment, which was also significantly higher than the other treatment groups (p < 0.05). No significant differences were found among the treatments in terms of survival rate (p > 0.05), but the maximum survival rate (98.89±0.0 %) in T3 (22 ppt) and T2 (5 ppt). The maximum level of crude proteins (19.99±1.4%) was found in the whole-body biochemical composition (% of wet weight) of Asian sea bass juveniles in T3 treatment group reared at 22 ppt salinity. The second-order polynomial regression showed that 20 ppt salinity is optimum for the best growth of Asian sea bass. Thus, our present work would provide valuable information to the fish farmers for culturing the sea bass as well as its management along the inland and coastline of Pakistan.

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan padatanggal 1 Juni – 1 Juli 2014 di Tambak Daerah Cot Kafiraton Kecamatan Seunuddon, Kabupaten Aceh Utara. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode ekperimental dengan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) Non Faktorial dengan lima perlakukan dan tiga kali ulangan yaitu perlakuan A: pemberian pakan jenis udang dogol perlakuan B: pemberian pakan jenis benih ikan nila; perlakuan C: pemberian pakan jenis keong mas ; perlakuan D: pemberian pakan pellet komersial. Parameter uji dalam penelitian ini adalah tingkat kelangsungan hidup, pertumbuhan, kecepatan konsumsi pakan dan kualitas air. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis secara deskriptif serta diuji dengan beda nyata terkecil (BNT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pakan alami yang berbeda memberi pengaruh yang sangat berbeda nyata terhadap pertumbuhan dan konsumsi pakan pada ikan kakap putih dimana Fhitung >Ftable yaitu pada perlakuan A. Akan tetapi tidak memberi pengaruh yang sangat berbeda nyata terhadap kelangsungan hidup ikan kakap putih. Nilai kualitas air selama penelitian yaitu baik dimana berada pada kisaran yang layak untuk kehidupan ikan kakap putih dengan pH 7,9-8,5, suhu berkisar 25-290C dan salinitas 23-26 ppt.The research was conducted on June 1 to July 1 2014 in Pond at Cot Kafiraton Seunuddon district, North Aceh. The experiment treatments was used on this study using a completely randomized design (CRD) non factorial with five treatments and three replicated which were A: feed types of dogol shrimp, B: feed  type of tilapia seed, treatment C: feed type of snails, treatment D: feed type commercial pellets. Parameters of this study was the survival rate, growth, feed consumption rate and water quality. Data were analyzed descriptively and tested by the least significant difference (LSD). The results was showed that different types of feed had very effect significantly different  on the growth and feed intake of sea bass (Fcal>Ftab). However, different fedd types did not give significantly different influence on the survival rate of sea bass. Water quality parameters were in suitable condition for sea bass habitats. The value of pH was 7,9-8,5, temperature 25-29 0C and salinity  23-26 ppt.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of the biofloc system versus the recirculation system using the native Amazonian freshwater shrimp Macrobrachium amazonicum (Heller, 1862) as a cultivation organism.  In this initial evaluation, the water quality parameters of each system were measured and the survival rate in the biofloc system showed similar values for M. amazonicum grown in a super-intensive recirculation system with averages values of 60%. The results indicated that both systems were within acceptable limits in terms of parameters (physical-chemical) and the survival rate of both systems showed similar values for M. amazonicum.

This study aims to determine how the growth and survival of catfish seeds that are fed differently. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) using 4 treatments and 3 replications so that the number of expe- riments amounted to 12. The treatment given was treatment A (administration of daphnia magna), treatment B (administration of tubifex), treatment C (mosquito larvae), and treatment D (pellets). The parameters measured in this study are weight growth, feed conversion ratio (FCR), survival rate (SR), and water quality parameters (acidity (pH), temperature, and dissolved oxygen (DO). Research location was carried out at the UPT. Fish Seed Market and Fish Seed Center Denpasar City. The highest weight growth was in treatment B was 0.89 g, then in treatment D was 0.84 g, treatment C was 0.42 g, and treatment A was 0.37 g. The best FCR in treatment B was 1.90 and treatment D was 1.98. Survival rate in this study ranged from 70-90%. Water quality parameters in this study are still in good conditions for growth and survival of catfish seeds. The temperature ranges from 24.97-25.10oC, DO ranges from 4.63-8.02 ppm, and pH ranges from 8.97-9.23.
