Background/Aims Women have different and varying experiences of labour and their coping strategies vary as well. Having support during labour may help women feel in control of their labour. This study aimed to explore and describe the experiences of first-time mothers during the first stage of labour. Methods The study used a qualitative, exploratory, descriptive design. A purposive sample of nine first-time postpartum mothers were selected to participate following normal vaginal delivery at Mbabane Government Hospital. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews and analysed thematically. Open coding was used to analyse data. Results Four themes emerged: 1. Ignorance of the signs of labour 2. Anxiety related to fear 3. Maintaining adequate nutrition 4. Coping with labour pains. Each theme had several subcategories. Most participants were ignorant of the signs of labour and reported anxiety related to fear of the unknown and practiced different ways of coping with labour pains. Conclusions First-time mothers require adequate preparation for labour, as many women in this study were ignorant of the signs of labour and reported anxiety related to fear of the unknown. Pregnant women should be educated about the physiological aspects of the first stage of labour and oriented in the labour ward during the prenatal period.

The social psychological concept of identity has been recognized as an important approach to the study of role-related behavior, including sports behavior. Identity has been linked theoretically to the self-concept via the notion of a salience hierarchy, and the salience of an identity in turn has been shown to be associated with time spent in role and other measures of role performance. In this article we present some measurement procedures for the study of the sport identity, and we demonstrate the utility of these procedures by testing hypotheses derived from Stryker and Serpe’s (1982) research on religious role behavior. The sample used to test these hypotheses is a purposive sample of 220 male college students and athletes.

Abstract Background Over the last two decades, globally, the number of neonatal deaths declined from 5.0 million in 1990 to 2.5 million in 2018. The residual neonatal mortality rate is seen as problematic and indicative of possible poor services or failings in the provision of quality care to neonates. The aim of this study was to analyse nurses’ perception related to the quality of the neonatal continuum of care, using Donabedian model as an evaluative framework. Methods A qualitative study design was utilised. Primary data was collected via semi-structured interviews from a purposive sample of nurses (n = 21), observations and document analysis. Thematic analysis was used to analyse data. Results Two categories of criteria relating to structure and process were identified by nurses. Structure criteria included Human resources and resources; and process criteria included technical quality, interpersonal development and nurse-patient relationship. Conclusion To ensure quality care, a variety of infrastructure, an adequate supply of equipment, supplies and an adequate staff capacity that are trained and skilled healthcare professionals are required.

Abstract The study aimed to uncover the reality of the application of talent management in the Palestinian universities. Using the descriptive analytical methodology, the study targeted a sample of all staff in the Palestinian universities: The Islamic University, Al-Azhar University, University of Palestine, and Gaza University, which hold 206 supervisory positions. 166 questionnaires were recovered for analysis by 81%. The management of talent in the target universities was applied moderate level, and the absence of a specialized organizational unit in these universities to manage the talent. The dimensions of talent management were ranked decently due to the relative weight: talent recruitment and assignment, followed by talent managementplanning, then talent education and training, and finally talent retention. The results showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the responses of respondents on the application of talent management due to the university type variable (public or privet). Finally, the study revealed that there were no statistically significant differences in the responses of respondents on talent management due to gender variables and the nature of work, but there are differences in the age group in favor of category (30-40 years). The study recommends defining the concept of talent management within a specific organizational vision within the universities, while providing a precise description of it, by defining the procedures and systems that distinguish this concept from other concepts such as human resources management. The study also recommends that the official bodies, headed by the Ministry of Education, take care of the talented academic and administrative staff in the universities to avoid brain drain and direct investment in human resources in the course of sustainable development in Palestinian universities. This qualitative study examined the competency of in-service teachers in inclusive education inZimbabwe. A purposive sample of 15 graduate in-service special needs education teachers selected from onestate university participated in the study. Semi structured interviews were used to collect data. Thematicanalysis was used to analyse data. The study established that for most of the teachers, the in service trainingfairly managed to prepare them adequately to teach in an inclusive class. It was also found from the study thatmost teachers interviewed are knowledgeable in identifying children with special needs. Peer tutoring andinteraction groups were common methods of teaching. It was also reported that lack of resources and lack ofsupport from other teachers were major challenges impeding teachers from meeting the needs of the learnersin inclusive setting. The study further revealed that extensive training on use of individual educationalprogram is needed during training. The study recommends that teachers be evaluated on all relevantcompetences during teaching practise which could enhance the professional development of in-serviceteachers in inclusive education. Another recommendation is that micro teaching strategy be used to fine tunethe teachers skills in teaching in an inclusive classes.

AbstractPurpose. Futsal is a very dynamic indoor team sport. Like in soccer, futsal players perform a number of efforts of different intensity during a match. In each match there are a few return substitutions to allow players to have some rest. The aim of the study was to assess the intensity and energy expenditure of single efforts and the dynamics of restitution after the efforts during successive futsal matches.Methods. The study consisted in measuring the players′ (n = 11) heart rate (HR) during four matches: A, B, C, D. The HR measurement started during a pre-match warm-up and ended 5 min after the match.Results. The highest intensity of single efforts was noticed in match A. It equalled 90.22 ± 4.90% HRConclusions. The intensity was very high, much higher than that of players′ efforts in 11-a-side soccer. It should be concluded that an appropriate reduction in the time players spend on the pitch during their successive efforts in one match and the consecutive tournament matches can result in reducing the decrease in the effort intensity.

This study aimed to investigate the accuracy and reliability of Polar Team Pro GPS units (10 Hz) when used to measure distance and total distance covered in different speed zones. Eight amateur soccer players (age: 21.37 ± 1.40 years, height: 176.75 ± 5 cm, body mass: 176.75 ± 9.47 kg) completed a team sport simulation cycle. Two Polar Team Pro GPS units were positioned on each player’s chest, and one GPSports GPS unit (15 Hz) was positioned between the scapulae. The data obtained from the two Polar Team Pro GPS units were compared to determine inter-unit reliability. The data obtained from one of the Polar Team Pro GPS units and the GPSports GPS unit (reference standard) were compared to determine concurrent accuracy. There was acceptable inter-unit reliability of Polar Team Pro GPS units for total distance (TD), low speed running (LSR) (0.00–13.99 km h−1), high speed running (HSR) (14.00–19.99 km h−1) and very high speed running (VHSR) (>20.0 km h−1) with high ICCs (0.63, 0.99, 0.99 and 0.99, respectively), and low typical error of measurement (%) (TEM%) (4.64, 5.05, 1.06 and 2.89, respectively). Regarding accuracy, the ICCs were extremely high for LSR and HSR (0.99 and 0.92, respectively), but high for TD and VHSR (0.63 and 0.65, respectively). Moreover, TEM (%) values were very low for TD and LSR (0.6 and 1.6, respectively), but they were high for HSR and VHSR (13.8 and 13.1, respectively). Consequently, acceptable inter-unit reliability was observed, indicating that the Polar Team Pro GPS unit is suitable for tracking pertinent team-sport variables. Moreover, the Polar Team Pro GPS units (10 Hz) are accurate under the same conditions. However, the research showed that the two systems cannot be used interchangeably for quantifying distances covered at higher speeds.
