This study aimed at exploring the reality of communication between parents and the schools of their children in addition to investigating the parents’ attitudes towards using the Internet services to communicate with the schools at the basic elementary stage in Nablus Directorate /Palestine. Furthermore, the study aimed at examining the effect of some variables on these attitudes. To achieve these objectives, the descriptive method was employed by means of a questionnaire used to collect data. The sample of the study consisted of 120 parents chosen through the cluster-regional-randomized design. Results indicated that all parents support the importance of communication with the schools of their children, and that (61.7%) of them strongly support this communication, while (42.5%) of the parents’ responses showed that they “sometimes “ communicate with the schools because of some obstacles revealed in this study. The study results also showed that the most common way of communication with school was the personal face-to –face visit which scored (84.2%) among the parents . Only (1.7%) of the parents revealed that they do not communicate with the school. On the other hand, (93.3%) indicated that they want to increase the extent of their communication with the schools through providing more effective and easier means of communication. The results also revealed that parents’ attitudes towards using the Internet services to communicate with the schools of their children were high (82.4%), and there were no statistically significant differences in their attitudes due to the variables of gender, age and the daily use of Internet services among the parents, while there were statistically significant differences in these attitudes that can be attributed to the differences between the parents with regard to their estimation of the importance of communication with schools in addition to the differences between them with regard to their desire to increase the extent of their communication by using more effective and easier means.

The aim of this chapter is to examine the destination marketing patterns via the use of e-tourism model to inbound tourists that had chosen their vacation destination via the Internet. The regions examined are the islands of Crete, in Greece, and Cyprus. Quantitative research showed that Internet provides significant tourism advantages dealing with prices and provision of information. Findings indicate that the use of Internet significantly influences the selection of transport and destination. On the other hand, the traditional marketing distributors still plays a crucial role in the promotion of the tourist product. Finally, the chapter formulates an e-tourism model that can be used for more successful marketing in island regions and suggests more efficient ways of using e-tourism in destination marketing activities.

With the advent of the Internet a little over a decade ago, technology has enabled communities to move beyond the physical face-to-face contacts to the virtual realm of the World Wide Web. With the advent of highways in the 1950s and 1960s, communities were created in suburbia. The Internet, on the other hand, over the last fifteen years, has enabled the creation of a myriad of virtual communities that have limitless boundaries around the entire globe.

This paper reports on a case study investigating distance learners participating in graduate-level hybrid synchronous instruction. This research helps inform the design of hybrid synchronous instruction in which face-to-face and distance learners engage in class sessions. Data were collected using electronic journals, individual interviews, and a focus group. The results of the data analysis provide evidence that in this case, hybrid synchronous instruction improved the study habits of distance learners. On the other hand, the case study results also revealed that there are challenging pedogogical aspects which the distance learners had to overcome during hybrid synchronous instruction. Among such challenges were the interactions, relationships, and communication exchanges between distance learners, their face-to-face counterparts, and the instructor.

My name is Salma Meléndez and I am currently a graduate in Agrogenomic Sciences. In March 2020, when COVID-19 was detected in Mexico, I was in my eighth semester of my undergraduate degree. At that time, he had an experiment of overexpression of a gene in bean roots, in order to explore its function during symbiosis with rhizobial bacteria. Unfortunately, the laboratory and the entire campus canceled their face-to-face activities in order to reduce the risk of contagion. An alternative was to take the experimental plants to my house to give the proper care, however, the situation became difficult as I did not have the space or the required conditions at home. On the other hand, other research centers with which we had collaboration agreements also canceled access, such is the case of the Optical Research Center, where we used the confocal microscope to detect subcellular location of proteins. The closure of institutions allowed me to write theoretical parts of my thesis, however, the experimental phase was definitely affected for at least six months. The experiment with the plants was almost completely lost. In the subsequent months I had the opportunity to re-enter my institution; however, under strict conditions and on staggered days, which made certain measurements that require daily continuity difficult. Currently, the laboratory is not as it used to look, full of colleagues sharing results and difficulties, exchanging advice and even certain materials. I think the pandemic has pushed us to do our work more individually and slowly. Consequently, my degree was delayed and transferred from 2020 to 2021. There are still many challenges to overcome, although activities have not been fully restored, science does not stop and we have found a way to face it, slowly but surely.

Indonesian’s Millennials are estimated to reach 70% of the productive population in 2020-2030 (BPS 2018), who cannot be separated from the internet and social media (Harahap 2017). Due to this fact, (Hsu 2018) and (Benini 2018) claim that millennials are afraid of being left behind by ephemeral content which will disappear within 24 hours so that many social media platforms are equipped with these temporary content features and companies are using temporary content strategies to reach more consumers. SMEs on the other hand have low knowledge of ephemeral content, even though 84% of millennials buy products due to the influence of social media, where ephemeral content lies within (Boen 2016). In the other hand, word-of-mouth has a significant impact on customer purchasing decisions until now. Along with the change to the digital era, word-of-mouth is being accelerated with the help of the internet, it called e-WOM, where many businesses use social media or other online platforms to promote business. The results showed that the two variables of ephemeral content and word-of-mouth with the help of the internet had a significant effect on customer purchase intentions, especially the millennial customer for SMEs in Surabaya City. In the future, by implementing ephemeral content in SMEs media social will increases their customer’s e-WOM.
