Albany-Dougherty County, Georgia has poverty-related indexes that include unemployment and economic disparity. The high unemployment and deteriorating economic climate can be traced to an exodus of major manufacturing employers. Public health issues and educational services continue to decline. These proxies of misery must be addressed by a contemporary mix of market related factors of financing and entrepreneurial enthusiasm. This research addresses the ever increasing poverty and related challenges on the road to prosperity. Secondly, this exploratory study highlights the relevance of a mix of micro-financing instruments that could assist the community to engage market-based economic activities that could enhance economic profiles. Based on the data collected with a survey instrument, the study highlights an apparent reluctance of concessionary financial institutions to lend.

Abstract Introduction Travel fatigue and circadian disruptions are known factors that can hinder performance in professional athletes. The present exploratory study focused on investigating the impact of travel distance and direction on back-to-back games over the 2013–2020 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Methods Data from away and home games of back-to-back sequences, in two different cities, from the 2013 to 2020 seasons in the National Basketball Association were included in this study. Information from every selected game was retrieved from the official website of the NBA (www.nba.com). The outcomes were based on winning percentage with additional covariates including the direction of travel (eastward or westward) and the distance travelled (0-500km – 501-1000km – 1001-1500km – 1501km and more). If a team played both games of a back-to-back sequence on the road, they were considered Away-Away; if a team played the first game of a back-to-back sequence at home they were considered Home-Away; if a team played the first game of a back-to-back sequence on the road they were considered Away-Home. Results The sequence Away-Home significantly increases the likelihood of winning compared to the Away-Away and Home-Away sequences 54.4% (95%CI: 54.4,54.5); 39.2% (95%CI: 37.2,41.2), and 36.8%, (95%CI: 36.7,36.8), respectively. Following a road game, when teams travel back home, every additional 500km reduces the likelihood of winning by approximately 4% (p = 0.038). Finally, after withdrawing the Away-Home sequence, travelling eastward significantly increases the chance of winning (p = 0.024) compared to westward travel but has no significant impact on the probability of winning compared to neutral time zone travel (p = 0.091). Conclusion The accumulation of travel fatigue and the chronic circadian desynchronization that occurs over the NBA season can acutely disturb sleep and recovery. It appears that tailored sleep and recovery strategies need to be dynamically developed throughout the season to overcome the different challenges of the NBA schedule. Support (if any):

This exploratory study aimed to investigate and describe the homeless elderly population user of a shelter specifically designed for them in Sao Paulo. A total of 20 elderly participated in the study. The data were gathered through interviews and field observation. The data analysis was based on Collective Health and Gerontology references. The main results reveal that the vulnerability of the elderly to become homeless occurs in a macro level, characterized by fragile work and residence ties. The micro level is characterized by the lack of familiar support. In conclusion, this study led us to rethink the human values regarding the social inequalities as well the trivialization of social injustice. We learned to view the homeless elderly as subject and not just passive object of charity and assistance.

Abstract In this study, we aimed to analyse the social, economic and territorial importance of hegemonic urban economy activities developed on the road axis Natal-Caicó, State of Rio Grande do Norte, Northeastern Brazil. In this axis, the cities and the economy grow based on supporters of poverty basic economic activities produced by the territory modernisation, situation characteristic of the precarious work process. As a systemic response, there is the urban economics segmentation, with the lower subsystem increasingly dependent on top, as well as more permanent and receiver. Through reflections on the theory of circuits of urban economics related to primary data about the road axis Natal-Caicó cities, we conclude the work stressing that, while not predominate the socially necessary market, the lower circuit is and it will be essential to make possible the survival of the majority of workers and to clarify the tension or the crisis experienced in the labour market and society. Keywords: Urban economics, Labor market, Poverty.

This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of vehicles on the road with a timed-out vehicle inspection certificate (TOVIC) and the associations of driver, vehicle, and environmental factors with this infraction. A quasi-induced exposure approach was used in this cross-sectional study to analyze a case series comprising 51,305 drivers passively involved in clean collisions (only one infractor driver involved) between two or more vehicles registered in the Spanish National Register of Road Crashes with Victims from 2014 to 2017. The prevalence of TOVIC was estimated in the whole sample and in subgroups defined by the variables considered. Multivariate logistic regression modeling was used to obtain adjusted odds ratios for the association between TOVIC and each category of the variables. The prevalence of TOVIC was low, although significant differences were found for certain subcategories of drivers, vehicles, and environmental factors. Significant positive adjusted associations were found between TOVIC and license-related infractions, vans (compared to cars), vehicle age, and vehicle defects. Several vehicle-related factors potentially associated with a high risk of involvement in a crash were clearly related with TOVIC, which suggests the need for measures to control this non-negligible number of high-risk vehicles on the road.

Abstract:  The Pejanggik Road Corridor is a collector 3 road with a high density in Mataram City and is an economic zone in the form of trade and services/commercial. The level of attractiveness of this region is economically seen by the many informal economic activities in the form of street vendors (PKL.). PKL activities have both positive and negative impacts on the functions and activities of the region, especially the Cakranegara economic area. The purpose of this study is to determine the factors that influence the pattern of activity and patterns of distribution of street vendors. The analytical method used in the form of descriptive qualitative based on the results of interviews, observations, literature studies and documentation. The results of the analysis show that every street vendor's activity is influenced by the direct or indirect relationship with formal activities on the road corridor and this activity is affected by the trading time. The distribution pattern tends to be linear, following the road pattern. Suggestion: The activities of street vendors need to be accommodated according to the capacity and ability of the road space.

Abstract In general, roads are a very important infrastructure to facilitate people’s access to their social and economic activities, so knowing the things that affect the efficiency of these roads is very important and how to maintain them. One of the aims of this research is to shed light on previous studies that showed the relationship between traffic characteristics and noise intensity on the condition of the breakable Pavement. The results of previous studies show that flexible Pavement has 19 potential failures and how to address them. There is a relationship between the characteristics of traffic flow and failures that occur in flexible paving. It is also possible to calculate the road condition by knowing the types of faults on the road using several roads or by using specific formulas to calculate the road condition index. There are relationships between the road condition index, the vehicles’ speed, and the models that link Noise to speed. And that most of the relationships that were used to calculate the elastic pavement condition index and its relationship to the movement characteristics are statistical relationships using ANOVA, recreation, and R2
