ABSTRACT Purpose Verify the position of lips and tongue at rest in newborns with and without ankyloglossia. Methods Cross-sectional study, carried out with 130 newborns in University Hospital. Data collection was performed by the researcher and speech-language pathologists from the Hospital. Information on gestational age, sex, weight, height and days of life was collected. The position of the lips and tongue at rest was evaluated through visual inspection with the newborns asleep. After the newborns were awakened, Neonatal Screening of the validated Protocol for the evaluation of the lingual frenulum for infants was performed to detect the alteration of the lingual frenulum. The data obtained were described and submitted to statistical analysis using the Chi-Square test to verify the association between the position of the lips with the tongue and to compare the position of the lips and tongue with and without ankyloglossia. The Mann-Whitney test was used to verify the behavior of the variables the differed between newborns with and without ankyloglossia. The significance level of 5% was adopted. Results When comparing the data, a significant difference was found between: weight and height with and without ankyloglossia; position of lips and tongue. An association between the position of the tongue and lips with and without ankyloglossia was also found. Conclusion Newborns without alteration of the lingual frenulum have a tendency to remain with their lips closed and their tongue elevated during rest and newborns with ankyloglossia have a tendency to keep their lips parted and their tongue low during rest.

According to the definition of the World Health Organization, adolescence is the phase of life between 10 and 19 years of age, a period marked by physiological and biopsychosocial changes, in which pregnancy is considered a risk factor for both mother and fetus from the biomedical point of view. Several factors have been associated with teenage pregnancy with negative maternal and neonatal impacts, such as: social vulnerability, low levels of education, income, and sexual education. This is a descriptive cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, which aimed to identify obstetric factors and neonatal outcomes of greater frequency among pregnant adolescents treated at the obstetric center of a university hospital. Data collection was performed through a logbook of daily procedures at the obstetric center, so that all parturients under 19 years of age treated in 2018 were included in the study. The variables studied were age, parity, type of delivery, gestational age, diagnosis of syphilis and HIV, number of prenatal consultations, and insertion of an intrauterine device (IUD). As for the newborn, the following were analyzed: weight and hospital destination after birth. The data were processed using the SOFA.5.2 software (Statistics Open for All) and the significance level established was 95%, with a value of (P ≤ 0.05). Three thousand four hundred and thirty pregnant women were evaluated. There was a birth rate of 19.3% among adolescents, with a correlation between the low weight of the newborn with the longest hospital stay and the number of prenatal visits, and also the identification of low insertion of contraceptive methods immediately after delivery. Adolescent pregnancy was correlated with low-birth-weight newborns and a longer stay in neonatal units, consequences often associated with the insufficient number of prenatal consultations. Public health policies for the inclusion of qualified nursing professionals in the management of insertion of the intrauterine device for the prevention of subsequent pregnancies deserve special attention.

Introduction: The transplanted patient has a complex pharmacotherapy, with the pharmacist having an important role in the multidisciplinary team. Objective: To analyze the pharmaceutical recommendations made during the hospitalization of the patients in kidney and liver transplant units. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study in which pharmaceutical recommendations from May 2017 to April 2018 were collected from the records contained in the database of the Clinical Pharmacy Unit of a University Hospital in Fortaleza, Brazil. The recommendations were categorized and analyzed based on the classification used in the institution. Results: There were 1241 pharmaceutical recommendations involving 325 patients and 1466 medications. The recommendations were more frequent during liver transplantation (54.2%, n = 672), with dose adjustments (18.2%, n = 122) and dilution / reconstitution (9.8%, n = 66) being the most predominant types. In kidney transplantation, recommendations for education about medication use (17.6%, n = 100) and treatment adherence strategies (17.6%, n = 100) were the most predominant. The most frequent therapeutic classes were systemic antibacterials (31.2%, n = 458) and immunosuppressants (25.1%, n = 368). The acceptance rate of recommendations for kidney and liver transplantation were 95.1% (n = 541) and 95.4% (n = 641), respectively. Conclusions: The present study showed a high frequency of pharmaceutical recommendations and these results demonstrate that the detection of drug-related problems generates pharmaceutical recommendations that can contribute to the reduction of negative drug-associated results and increase patient safety.

Method: this cross-sectional study was conducted with 586 postpartum women at a university hospital. Data were collected, from February to September, 2016, using structured questionnaires, patient medical charts and antenatal records, and were analysed using Chi-square and Cochran’s Tests. Results: 86% had a companion present. Being informed of the right to a companion was more frequent in the Obstetric Center and Obstetric Ward. No significant relationship was found between knowledge of the Companion Law and number of antenatal consultations. Companions were present least often in the postpartum recovery room, due to absence of the companion and to permission not being given. Companions were most often the women’s partners. No significant relation was found between the presence of a companion and analgesia, delivery type or Apgar. Conclusion: understanding the benefits of having a companion is paramount, as are incentives and encouragement for implementing evidence-based practices.RESUMENObjetivo: analizar la práctica de la presencia del acompañante durante el proceso de parto. OBJECTIVE: To classify patients in a hemodynamics healthcare unit, according to the degree of dependence on nursing care. METHODS: Cross-sectional study performed in June/2005 at the Hemodynamics unit of a university hospital. Data were collected during the first hour post-procedure, using Perroca's instrument of patient classification. RESULTS: Among 164 patients, 52% were female, aged 60 ± 14.8 years. The average score of classification was 31.9 ± 4.8, rated as intermediate. As for instrument indicators, patients submitted to gastroenterological procedures presented a significant difference regarding their level of consciousness (P<0.0001); as for motility, patients submitted to cardiologic procedures presented higher dependence scores (P<0.0001); there were no differences for locomotion between the different specialties. CONCLUSION: The dependence profile of patients seen in the hemodynamics unit was considered intermediate. Further studies may add more information when planning the size of hemodynamics units.
