The study focused on awareness and usage of e-learning materials among students in the distance educationprogramme of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). The study is a descriptive survey which was guidedby two research questions. The population for the study comprised of the 1, 512 year three students out of which 400were sampled and used for the study. The instrument for data collection was a 30-item self-constructed checklisttitled, “Distance Education Students’ Awareness and Usage of E-Learning Materials” (DESAUELM). It wasvalidated by experts and the reliability co-efficient stood at 0.86. The data collected were analysed using frequenciesand percentages. The findings showed that, the students are aware of majority of the e-learning materials. Also, theresult on usage indicated that the students do not use majority of the e-learning materials. There was general lowusage of the e-learning materials as revealed by the findings.

This paper “perception on the adoption of WhatsApp for learning amongst two hundred level curriculum and instruction I students of Sokoto State University, Nigeria” was guided by three objectives, three research questions. The researcher used descriptive survey research design in the study. The researcher used qualitative method with the use of individual interview for data collection. Random sampling technique was employed to select the sample. The entire sample that was chosen is 10. The instruments used for data collection was data-blank. Coding system was applied to gather and interpreted data. The results indicated that majority of students used WhatsApp for learning, poster that WhatsApp is very easy to operate for learning and also shows that the attitude of students towards the use of WhatsApp for learning is positive. The research manifested that WhatsApp may be accepted as instructional tool in teaching and learning. Keywords: WhatsApp; Learning; Social media; E-learning.

This study was designed to assess undergraduate students’ metacognitive skill for e-Learning. It adopted a descriptive survey approach to determine the extent that undergraduate students in Nigeria deploy metacognitive skills for e-learning. Two research questions and two null hypotheses were stated to guide the study. Three institutions in Niger state were purposively selected and a total of 287 students were used for the study. The Metacognitive Skill f o r E-learning Questionnaire (MSELQ) was used for data collection. The instrument wav validated and the reliability tested. Data an analysis was conducted using the mean and standard deviations and t-test statistic. The findings of the study revealed that most of the students use the metacognitive skills. However, the extent of use of skill was low. Gender has no significant influence on problem and uses of metacognitive skills on e-leaning. It was recommended that for effective e-learning, students need appropriate instructions in the utilization of metacognitive skills for effective e- learning through internet.

Despite the effort of the Federal Government of Nigeria to enhance the quality of the learning process in Nigerian universities by introducing the use of ICT resources in schools through which lecturers will acquire knowledge and skills that would enable them source the internet and utilize e-learning resources for qualitative teaching, the attainment of the e-learning objectives in National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) appears elusive. The study investigated the utilization of e-learning resources among lecturers in National Open University study centers in South East Nigeria. Three research questions guided the study, while survey design was adopted. The population of the study comprised all the 724 facilitators in National Open University study centers, South East Nigeria. The sample size comprised 84 lecturers obtained through simple random sampling and accidental sampling techniques. Questionnaire was used to collect data. The reliabilities of the clusters in the instrument which were ascertained with Cronbach alpha method were found to be 0.71, 0.80 and 0.77. The data collected were analyzed using mean. The findings of the study revealed that many of the lecturers utilized e-learning resources for instructional delivery, research purposes and evaluation purposes. Based on the findings, it was recommended that University administrators should promote the use of e learning among lecturers by providing technologically enhanced libraries in order to support the use of e learning for the tripartite purposes of instructional delivery, research and evaluation. <p> </p><p><strong> Article visualizations:</strong></p><p><img src="/-counters-/edu_01/0580/a.php" alt="Hit counter" /></p>

This research aims to identify and analyse students’ response on the application of the Hypnoteaching in learning Hindu religious education in class X of SMAN 7 Denpasar. This research follows a qualitative approach with observation as the main data collection technique. The sample of the study is X Mipa 6 class with 34 students from a total of 389. The application of hypnoteaching methods is fun for students compared to  conventional methods which tend to be uninteresting. When using Hypnoteaching method, students were very excited during learning activities. By using hypnoteaching methods in learning Hindu religious education students becomes very enthusiastic in listening to the teacher's explanation of Hindu religious learning materials. To improve learning activities students prepare themselves for the topic discussion. Students’ response to the application of Hypnoteaching method is positive. They think that the method is effective as it can increase students’ enthusiasm to learn.

This tracer study was designed to track National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) graduate nurses in their places of work with a view to ascertaining their level of professional competency and to explore employers’ expectation of graduate competencies. The study employed the descriptive survey design. Participants included 222 NOUN alumni who graduated in nursing programme and a corresponding 222 heads/top-level managers of the organizations where the graduate nurses were employed. Multiple instruments were used to collect data including competency test, survey questionnaire, and direct observation. A number of remarkable findings emerged from this study, both expected and unexpected. Majority of sampled graduates appeared to possess high level of professional competency in all three competency dimensions measured. A significant proportion of employers seemed to hold high perception regarding the graduates. In matching the employers’ perception of ODL graduates against actual competencies of NOUN graduate nurses with the use of quadrant analysis, the resulting values showed that a significant proportion of the graduates met and exceeded employer expectation.

This study was carried out to find out the level of information literacy (IL) awareness, perception and skills of students of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). It was based on the fact that IL instruction course is missing in the curriculum of NOUN, thus, it is therefore a necessity to ascertain awareness and perception levels of the students about IL issues well as their skills assessment test. Survey research method was adopted involving 197 respondents that were found during visits to the four study centres for data collection. Questionnaire was used for data collection, which was administered, properly filled, returned, and used for data analysis with descriptive statistics. Findings revealed that NOUN students have poor level of awareness and perception about IL, as a result of rejection level in seven out of ten statements. However, the other accepted three see IL issues as antidote to poor IL skills of students. Generally, the IL assessment test shows that a greater percentage of the students, when summed together lack IL skills. Avenues through which they acquired IL skills were analysed as well as the challenges affecting their IL skills development. Recommendations were made among which are integration of IL Instruction into the curriculum of NOUN and provision of adequate and functional human, infrastructural and information resources for result-oriented service delivery in the libraries.
