SummaryThis article discusses a cognitive–behavioural therapy (CBT) approach to the treatment of medically unexplained symptoms that is based on the ‘five areas’ model of CBT. We describe a typical course of therapy and some of the common problems encountered during treatment. Emphasis is placed on the practical management of these conditions, and the focus is on symptoms as opposed to cause. We believe that this approach is widely applicable and could be used in a large range of settings to tackle these debilitating conditions. In writing this article we intended to provide an overview of patients with medically unexplained symptoms. The article would be of interest to staff within liaison psychiatry departments looking to set up a medically unexplained symptoms service and general psychiatry teams who may have contact with patients presenting with somatic symptoms. Psychiatric teams without access to a liaison department may also find this article interesting.

Contemporary college students are the main group that will create a new kind of China and promote China's economic development. This requires them to have a unique and sensitive perspective of development, education is not only the demand of China's economic structure transformation, but also in line with the development trend of global higher innovation education. 1000 college students from different grades and regions have fully understood the innovation education of our country through the questionnaire survey. In the past ten years, the government, universities in some regions and the society have analyzed the investment in education. In addition, this paper also compares the two-year survival rate of entrepreneurship projects between graduates with and without education from 2010 to 2017. Through the post-processing, statistics and comparison of the data, we find that most of the students have different degrees of willingness to start a business, but relatively few can put it into action. The main reasons are the lack of a reliable platform, innovative ideas can not be achieved, the lack of guidance of relevant economic theory knowledge, and the inability to implement scientific research achievements into specific entrepreneurial projects.

Transforming a city into a smart city is a long and complex process. If the aim is to modify large areas (regions/territories), the problem becomes significantly harder. Contrary to what might be expected, combining N smart cities within the same territory will not necessarily lead to a smart region. Although there are several smart-region experiments of an international nature, there is still no benchmark to facilitate this task. In the case of island territories, this task is made less complex due to the common problems that characterize them. This paper analyzes these characteristics, seeks common patterns and proposes a model for the smart development of island territories in an effort to harmonize and optimize the available resources by providing for smart planning that is more orderly, uniform and efficient. To compare the model, we used as a reference the Smart Island proposal designed by the government of Spain as part of its National Plan for Smart Cities (Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, 2015a).
