The purpose of this paper is to investigate the influence of transformational leadership behaviors work performance in the context of Omani governmental organizations. The research emphasizes that transformational leadership is a crucial element to enhance employees' performance. Transformational leadership Inventory was used to measure transformational leadership behaviors. Contextual and task performance were used to measure work performance. Quantitative survey method was applied and a sample of 335 middle-level managers of Omani public civil service organizations was selected to answer the instrument. Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) was utilized to analyse the collected data and test the research questions, and hypotheses. The techniques of data analysis comprised descriptive statistics, a Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), and a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis. The empirical results indicate that transformational leadership behaviours (core transformational leadership, providing individualized supports, intellectual stimulation, and setting high performance expectation) have a significant impact on contextual performance. Whereas, core transformational leadership and providing individualized supports have a significant impact on task performance. k'>. Cronbach's Alpha was 0.885. The finding revealed that nurses supply, mostly from Secondary School (84%). A critical demand for more nurses 30%-40% in certain units due to high work load. Most of the nurses were not satisfied about monitory compensation, participation in decision making and inadequate supplies.

Orientation: Effective leadership is critical to the survival and growth of organisations. For such leadership to be realised, organisational leaders need to be competent in transformational leadership, which is described as a situation in which the leader and followers empower and shape each other’s behaviour to attain a desired goal.Research purpose: The purpose of this study is to empirically test the relationship between transformational leadership competency and leadership effectiveness in Kenyan indigenous banks.Motivation for this study: In spite of the fact that indigenous banks have been performing better recently, their overall poor performance is cause for concern. This study was motivated by a desire to establish the extent to which the recent improvement is attributable to transformational leadership competency and effectiveness. It is also anticipated that this investigation can highlight aspects of leadership which require more attention in order to sustain improved performance.Research design, approach and method: The study utilised a survey method to collect both quantitative and qualitative data while probability and non-probability techniques were used to sample target population. With 494 respondents targeted in the study, 257 responses were received and analysed. Data analysis was performed using structural equation modelling with Cronbach’s alpha, confirmatory factor analysis and goodness-of-fit indices for analysis and for testing relationships.Main findings: The overall findings confirm that a strong relationship exists between transformational leadership competencies and leadership effectiveness among the leaders of the indigenous banks in Kenya.Practical/managerial implication: Based on the findings of this study, Kenyan indigenous banks are able to identify specific and essential transformational leadership competencies and leadership effectiveness attributes.Contribution: The study has identified that transformational leadership abilities of inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, individualised consideration and idealised influence, together with the leadership effectiveness indicators of cross-cultural competency, influence, follow commitment, versatility and group organisation are essential for the effectiveness of Kenyan banks.

Purpose – This inquest into consumer goods companies in Vietnam aims to examine if leadership influences corporate social responsibility (CSR) and emotional intelligence (EI), which in turn influences upward influence behavior. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach – Structural equation modeling approach contributed to the analysis of 406 responses returned from self-administered structured questionnaires sent to 690 middle level managers. Findings – From the findings emerged a model of upward influence behavior and its antecedents such as leadership, CSR, and EI. Transformational leadership, ethical CSR, and high level of EI were found to nurture organizationally beneficial upward influence tactics. Originality/value – Through the findings of the study, the insight into the leadership-based model of upward influence behavior underscores the role of transformational leadership style, ethical CSR, as well as team EI in the cultivation of organizationally beneficial upward influence tactics in consumer goods companies in Vietnam business context.

The present study aims to examine whether principals’ emotional intelligence (specifically, their ability to recognize emotions in others) makes them more effective transformational leaders, measured by the reframing of teachers’ emotions. The study uses multisource data from principals and their teachers in 69 randomly sampled primary schools. Principals undertook a performance task to allow assessment of their emotion recognition ability; half the teachers’ sampled ( N = 319) reported on principals’ leadership behaviors and the other half ( N = 320) on teachers’ subjective perceptions of principals as promoting teachers’ reframing of negative emotions into more positive ones. Data were analyzed through multilevel structural equation modeling. Findings indicated a cross-level relationship between principals’ transformational leadership behaviors and teachers’ emotional reframing, as well as a relationship between principals’ emotion recognition ability and their transformational behaviors. Furthermore, the study revealed that principals’ emotion recognition ability has an indirect effect on teachers’ emotional reframing through principals’ transformational leadership behaviors. The results provide empirical support for the claim that transformational leadership promotes emotional transformation. The theoretical and practical implications of the study are discussed.

In this study 732 Taiwanese kindergarten teachers, divided into 4 regional areas: northern, central, southern, and eastern, completed a questionnaire about their work performance and how it is affected by principals' leadership behaviors. Regression and structural equation modeling analysis showed that the use of empathetic concern by kindergarten principals had a positive effect on teachers' work performance. Although assertive orders were found to have a positive influence, the correlation with work performance was lower than that with empathetic concern. Rewards and punishments had no significant effect on improving teachers' work performance. Emotion-based leadership in the form of showing empathetic concern could be used to improve kindergarten teachers' work performance.

This study aims to analyze and discuss the effect of Transformational Leadership and Employee Integrity through Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) Against Employee Innovation at Regency / City Inspectorates in North Sulawesi Province. This research is a quantitative study, using a survey method with a causal approach, with data analysis techniques using Structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis. Research respondents numbered 200 employees at the District / City Inspectorate in North Sulawesi Province. The results of this study indicate that 1) Transformational leadership has a direct and positive effect on employee innovation. The better the leadership at the regional Inspectorate adopts the transfrormational leadership style, the better the innovator will be at the regional inspectorate. 2) Integrity has a direct and positive effect on employee innovation. The more integrity with APIP Regional Inspectorate, the better will be innovations in the field of supervision. 3) Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) has a direct and positive effect on employee innovation. The better the Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) of the APIP Regional Inspectorates, the innovations of the APIP in the field of supervision will also increase. 4) Transformational leadership has a direct and positive effect on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). The better the leadership at the regional Inspectorate adopts the transformational leadership style, the more it increases organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) from the APIP. 5) Employee integrity has a direct and positive effect on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). The more integrated the APIP regional Inspectorate, the better the organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) of the APIP. 6) Transformational leadership has an indirect and positive effect on employee innovation through organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). 7) Employee integrity has an indirect and positive effect on employee innovation through organizational citizenship behavior (OCB).

This study aims to test the effect of HRM practices on the employees’ task performance and how the correlation is mediated by the variables of job embeddedness and perceived organizational support. The methods of data collection employed observation, questionnaire online and offline, and interview. Sampling uses the survey method, with the number of respondents 480 (response rate 87.27%) academics in Indonesia. The analysis of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Warp PLS program was used to test the hypothesis. The result of this study shows that the supported HRM practices affect employee performance, job embeddedness and perceived organizational support. Employee performance is also directly affected by job embeddedness and perceived organizational support. Based on the result, there is an effect of HRM practices on the task performance, the better HRM practices are, the more employees’ task performance will improve. Job embeddedness and perceived organizational support are also affected by HRM practices. In addition, this study also proves that job embeddedness and perceived organizational support can also improve employees’ task performance. Besides affecting directly, job embeddedness and perceived organizational support have a role as mediating variables in the HRM practices on performance. The result of this study provides an understanding that good HRM practices are crucial to be applied not only in the profitable organization but also in the universities. This study provides a description of the importance of good HRM practices to be implemented in the universities. Furthermore, it is necessary to continue studying the roles of human resources practices with the larger sample.

PurposeThe study compares the impact of four components of transformational leadership (TL), namely, idealized influence (II), inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation (IS), and individualized consideration (IC) on employee creativity (EC) at the workplace between Turkey and Algeria, taking into account the mediating effect of employee's creative role identity (CRI).Design/methodology/approachData were collected from 688 managers working for conglomerate companies in both countries and the analysis was performed using a two-stage structural equation modeling (SEM) for model and hypothesis testing.FindingsThe findings highlighted that managers from both countries have divergent stances toward TL’s impact on EC; Algerian managers recognized the impact relationship between CRI and EC. Meanwhile, Turkish managers believed in the efficiency of every component independently.Research limitations/implicationsWhen generalizing the research results, a debate might arise in regards to both the data collection instrument and the data being collected from two companies only. Therefore, upcoming research might opt for using further data collection methods and expand the data collection sources to cover larger targets.Practical implicationsThe study's findings help in assisting managers and decision-makers in both countries into strategically adjusting their managerial approaches accordingly and appropriately stimulating EC at the workplace.Social implicationsThe findings provided insights into elevating and strengthening a mere formal leader–member relationship to a personally satisfying and mutually beneficial social bond.Originality/valueThroughout literature, the light was shed on the fundamental, yet, infrequently discussed link between TL components and employee CRI. The comparative nature and findings of our study could be considered building blocks for further academic research about leadership in both countries.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether transformational leadership matters in promoting corporate entrepreneurship in Tunisian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It has been argued that transformational leadership is a multidimensional construct which is composed of intellectual stimulation, idealized influence, inspirational motivation and individual consideration. Corporate entrepreneurship is also a multidimensional construct composed of new business venturing, innovativeness, self-renewal and proactiveness. Hence, it has been hypothesized that transformational leadership positively and directly influences corporate entrepreneurship. Design/methodology/approach A hypothetico-deductive and quantitative approach was adopted to test the suggested research model. A 2 × 2 survey was conducted on a random sample of a set of Tunisian SMEs’ workers. Data analysis was performed using the structural equation modeling. Findings The results highlight the relatively relevance of transformational leadership’s components in triggering the corporate entrepreneurship’s patterns. Originality/value The author reports on the importance of transformational leadership in the corporate entrepreneurship development in the Tunisian business context. The paper should be of interest to readers in the areas of management and entrepreneurship. This work seems to be relevant to the extent that few works have highlighted the association between the components of both transformational leadership and corporate entrepreneurship. The findings seem interesting insofar as they show mainly the important effect of the intellectual stimulation and the inspirational motivation, triggered by transformational leaders, on workers’ innovativeness, proactiveness and new business venturing.

One of the most significant prerequisites for an innovative school is the presence of transformational leaders and knowledge sharing. The primary purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the transformational leadership on organizational innovation with the mediating role of knowledge management. It applied research by orientation, descriptive research by purpose, survey research by strategy, causal research by nature, and a questionnaire in terms of data collection methods. Data were collected from 265 school principals, expert officers and deputy managers at the Department of Education of Dasht-e Azadegan county, Khuzestan province, Iran. As the target population was small, census sampling was adopted and all the 265 members participated in the survey. For data collection, the Multifactor Leadership, Organizational Innovation, and Knowledge Management Questionnaires were used, whose reliability (using Cronbach’s alpha) was estimated to be 0.89, 0.93, and 0.91, respectively. Factor analysis was used for validity assessment. For data analysis, structural equation modeling in Amos software was employed. The results showed that components of intellectual stimulation, idealized influence, inspirational motivation, and individualized consideration, both directly and through the mediating role of knowledge management, influence organizational innovation of schools.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the mediating effect of job autonomy on the relationship between direct supervisor’s transformational leadership behaviors and employees’ extended use of information technologies (IT). In addition, this study considers IT innovativeness as a significant moderator in the research model, in order to examine if the relative influences of leadership behaviors on IT extended use are contingent upon employees’ IT innovativeness. Design/methodology/approach A field survey was conducted in China and empirical data were collected from 299 employees who use IT in support of daily work. Structural equation modeling technique was used to examine the research model and corresponding hypotheses. Findings The empirical results indicate that: three dimensions of transformational leadership, specifically interpersonal consideration, intellectual stimulation and inspirational motivation, are significant antecedents of employees’ IT extended use; perceived job autonomy partially mediates the relationships between transformational leadership behaviors and IT extended use; and employees’ IT innovativeness positively moderates the effects of transformational leadership behaviors on IT extended use. Practical implications This study can provide first-line managers with a better understanding of how to stimulate employees to make an extended use of IT by granting them more freedom in job assignments. Furthermore, the managers also need attend to subordinates’ personal IT innovativeness when exhibiting transformational leadership behaviors. Originality/value This study contributes to the extant literature of IT extended use through the lens of transformational leadership and job characteristics theory. In particular, this study identifies the boundary condition of the proposed research model by uncovering the moderating effect of IT innovativeness between transformational leadership behaviors and IT extended use.
