The purposes of this research were 1) to develop student’s scientific reasoning ability on the concept of light and image at a criterion of 70 using inquiry-based learning 5E with prediction observation and explanation strategy and 2) to compare students’ scientific learning achievement on the concept of light and image after using inquiry-based learning 5E with prediction observation and explanation strategy. The target groups were 22 students of grade 9 selected by a purposive sampling method. The research instruments were lesson plans, achievement test, scientific reasoning ability test, scientific reasoning ability observation form, and scientific reasoning ability interview form the statistics used in data analysis were mean, percentage, and t-test. The results showed that 1) the scientific reasoning ability in cycles 1, 2, and 3. There were 6, 13, and 21 students who passed their criteria of 70% of the full score in each learning cycle, respectively. 2) Students’ learning achievement after learning with the learning management was significantly higher than the establishment at a criterion of 70 at a statistical level of .05.

Modelling instruction is systematic instructional activity for constructing and applying scientific knowledge in Physics lesson. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of Modelling instruction with different reasoning abilities on understanding physical concepts by controlling students’ prior knowledge. This research used experimental method with 2x2 factorial design with two Modelling instruction classes and two conventional classes with a total of 176 students. The instrument used was reasoning ability test, prior knowledge test, and physics concept test. It used LCTSR (Lawson’s Classroom Test of Scientific Reasoning) instrument. Prior knowledge test instruments consisted of 25 problems to identify how deep the students understand the topic before they undergo the learning process and physics concept test consisted of 25 problems. Based on the statistical test using two factor Ancova, it proved that there was a significant difference in students’ ability to master the physics concept between using Modelling instruction learning model and using conventional learning model. The result showed that the Modelling instruction increasing conceptual understanding better than conventional learning. There are two important parts in the Modelling instruction that are model development and model deployment. This study also confirms that there are significant differences in understanding the concepts between students of high reasoning ability and low reasoning ability. Students with high reasoning abilities have a better understanding of concepts than students with low reasoning abilities.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis penemuan terbimbing untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan motivasi belajar matematika pada bangun ruang di SMP. Perangkat yang dikembangkan meliputi silabus, 3 RPP, 8 handout, 8 LKS, 1 perangkat tes ketercapain pada bangun ruang sisi datar; serta   silabus, 3 RPP, 2 handout, 4 LKS, 1 perangkat tes ketercapaian kompetensi pada bangun ruang sisi lengkung. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan (research &development) dengan menggunakan model pengembangan 4D yaitu define, design, development, dan disseminate. Kevalidan perangkat ditinjau dari penilaian para ahli, kepraktisan ditinjau dari penilaian guru, penilaian peserta didik, dan observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran. Keefektifan ditinjau dari tes ketercapaian kompetensi, tes kemampuan berpikir kritis, dan motivasi belajar matematika peserta didik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan valid, praktis, dan efektif.Kata kunci: pengembangan, perangkat pembelajaran, penemuan terbimbing, berpikir kritis, motivasi belajar matematika Developing of guided inquiry-based learning to increase critical thinking and motivation to learn on geometry in junior high school AbstractThis research is aimed to describe the development phase of guided inquiry-based learning package to increase critical thinking ablity and motivation to learn mathematics on solid figures and describe the quality of the developed product. The learning package consist of syllabus, 3 lesson plans, 8 handouts, 8 student work sheets, a competency achievement test on plane solid figure; and syllabus, 3 lesson plans, 2 handouts, 4 student work sheets, a competency achievement test on curve solid figure. This research is a developmental research study. The model of the instructional package in this research was adapted from 4-D development model. It consisted of five phases: define, design, develop, dan disseminate. The result of validation by expert jugdement shows that the kit that is developed is of valid category for each learning kit that has been developed. The aspects of practicality was of very practice category as seen from the evaluation by the teachers, evaluation by the students, and implementation of the learning. The aspect of effectiveness could be reached from the competency achievement test results, critical thinking ability test results, and the results of questionnaires of student’s motivation to learn mathematics. The result of this research is an instructional package component on solid figures is valid, practical, and effective.Keywords: development, instructional package, guided inquiry, critical thinking, motivation to learn mathematics

Penelitian ini bertujuan menyelidiki pengaruh pembelajaran segiempat dan segitiga dengan pendekatan discovery yang menekankan aspek analogi terhadap prestasi belajar, kemampuan penalaran, dan kecerdasan emosional spiritual siswa SMP Negeri 9 Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu.Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes prestasi belajar, tes kemampuan penalaran, dan angket kecerdasan emosional spiritual. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji Multivariate Analysis of Variance (Manova) dan Analysis of Variance (Anova). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada pengaruh pembelajaran segiempat dan segitiga dengan pendekatan discovery yang menekankan aspek analogi terhadap prestasi belajar, dan kemampuan penalaran siswa. Berdasarkan analisis, pembelajaran segiempat dan segitiga dengan pendekatan discovery yang menekankan aspek analogi lebih unggul daripada pembelajaran biasa dalam hal prestasi belajar dan kemampuan penalaran. Sebaliknya, dalam hal kecerdasan emosional spiritual siswa, pendekatan discovery yang menekankan aspek analogi tidak memberi pengaruh dan tidak lebih unggul daripada pembelajaran biasa. This study was a quasi-experimen-tal study. The instruments of the study were an achievement test, reasoning ability test, and emotional spiritual intelligence questionnaire. The data wereanalyzed using the Multivariate Analysis of Variance (Manova) and Analysis of Variance(Anova) tests. The results of the study are as follows. There is aneffect of quadrilateral and triangle teaching using the discovery approach emphasing on the analogy aspect on students’ achievement and reasoning ability.There is noeffect of the students’spiritual emotional intelligence on the discovery approach emphasing on the analogy aspect. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Inquiry based learning approach on learning achievement and learning satisfaction among grade 4 students in science. The study used a quasi-experimental design. A clustered random sampling was used to select 2 sections out of 3 sections of grade four students. The research instruments implemented were achievement test, questionnaire and observation form were used to collect the data. The experiment was carried out for 5 consecutive weeks. The statistics used for data analysis were mean, standard deviation, paired and independent t-test. The analysis of the result on learning achievement showed that there was a significant difference between the means of pretest and posttest and paired t-test also gave the significant value of p=0.00 (<0.05). Similarly, the overall mean of the student learning satisfaction was 4.61 which indicated that students were extremely satisfied with inquiry based learning approach. The results of the data showed that the Inquiry-based learning approach was effective in achieving high scores and as well the learning satisfaction of the students in science.

Physics lessons in addition considered a very frightening specter because it filled with formulas, often learning application too monotonous and boring that is by using learning CDs. It is what lies behind this action research. This study aims to decide students' motivation and achievement results for physics lesson after using cooperative learning type Numbered Heads Together (NHT).The study was conducted in SMP Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta 9. This type of research is a classroom action research settingVIII A class totaling 40 students. learning model used is a model of cooperative learning type Numbered Heads Together (NHT). Plan 2 cycles of research conducted and completed in the second cycle. Data were collected with a learning achievement test results, observation sheets and questionnaires. The analysis is descriptive qualitative.Results motivation questionnaire given to each learning cycle is obtained in the first cycle is 65% of students in both categories, 35% of students in the classical category of less and 66.3%. In the second cycle of 80% of students in the excellent category, 20% of students in both categories and in the classical as much as 95% of students have had a very good learning motivation. Achievement of learning outcomes of students has increased significantly as the first cycle were 21 students approximately 52.5% declared complete with an average grade of 6.17, while the lowest value 4.5 and the highest value of 7.5, the second cycle of the average value of the class to 8.29 with the percentage of classical completeness 100% with the lowest value of 6.7 and the highest 10.

Scientific reasoning ability is important to have for students to understand the concept of physics and have a good mathematical reasoning ability. The scientific reasoning ability itself is the ability of a person to use his or her reasoning in resolving a problem by coming up with facts or tangible evidence, so that the conclusion can be drawn. The research was conducted with a view to analyzing the scientific reasoning ability of high school students in Banyuwangi city on temperature and heat material. The study used a research instrument in the form of a multiple-choice scientific reasoning ability test based on LCTSR. This type of research is descriptive research. The results of this research include the percentage of test result scientific reasoning ability of students in Banyuwangi city in the proportional reasoning is 60.51%, in variable control of 58.17%, at a probability reasoning of 49.87%, on The hypothetical-deductive reasoning is 47.4%, on the reasoning correlation of 20.53%, and the reasoning on conservation is 37.22%. The largest percentage is proportional reasoning, while the smallest is a correlation reasoning. Then it can be said that high school students in Banyuwangi City have the best scientific reasoning ability on the proportional reasoning pattern and the ability of scientific reasoning which is lacking in the pattern of reasoning the correlation.

Scientific reasoning ability is considered as developing ability and is improved through knowledge acquisition. So, the study was opted to find out the relationship between the scientific reasoning ability and the achievement marks of SSC science graduates. All SSC science graduates enrolled in intermediate 1st year class in any public or private college of Punjab were the population. 1620 students from four districts were conveniently selected. The suitable test Lawson reasoning ability test was adapted with permission to make it bilingual and pilot testing brought Cronbachs α value 0.914. Test was administered to 1620 students of both public and private colleges whereas returned rate was 93.7%. Results calculated through descriptive statistics and Pearson Correlation was no significant relationship between reasoning ability test scores and the SSC marks. It was recommended that assessment agencies i.e. Board of intermediate and Secondary education may include the items of higher order thinking in assessment.

The purpose of this study is to analyze how effective the cycle learning model is towards student mathematics learning achievement by using puzzle mathematics media. This research is an experimental quantitative study carried out in class IV Gondosari Public Elementary School. The design of this research is the static group pretest-posttest desaign. The average mathematics achievement test results were 57.6 for the control class and 67.5 for the experimental class. The prerequisite test shows that the data are normally distributed and homogeneous. The research hypothesis test shows: (1) there is a difference in the average test of learning achievement (knowledge and skills) of mathematics between the experimental class and the control class that is 3,291> 1,997; and (2) puzzle cycle assisted learning cycle cannot meet the classical effectiveness criteria.

Learning chemistry in the chemistry education study program has not maximized the scaffolding provision yet, so students still have difficulty in mastering the precondition concept. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of learning using the 5E learning cycle model assisted by scaffolding on acid and base material as seen from an increase in students' understanding of concepts. This research is a quasi-experiment with one group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this study were 32 students who choose randomly from the chemical education study program class of 2019. The instrument used is an essay learning achievement test to measure students' understanding of acid and base concepts. The results showed that the n-gain value obtained is 0.31 or can be interpreted as an increase with moderate criteria. Therefore it can be concluded that the addition of scaffolding in the 5E learning cycle is effective to increase students' understanding on acid and base material.
