This study aims to investigate the perceptions of physical education and sport teachers who work in the city Bayburt concerning teacher leadership roles in terms of various variables. The population of the study consists of 42 physical education and sport teachers who work in the city Bayburt. Sampling has not been used as the whole population is included. The chapter in which the perceptions of teachers have been evaluated is used from The Scale of Perception and Expectation Identification Concerning Teacher Leadership which was developed by Beycioğlu (2009) to identify the perceptions of physical education and sport teachers concerning teacher leadership. According to the test of analysis of independent sample t-test, it is identified that female teachers have higher averages than male teachers at institutional development subscale and scale total point. Furthermore, it is found that physical education and sport teachers who have a less than 10 years experience have higher averages compared to those who have a more than 10 years experience at institutional development, professional development, collaboration among colleagues’ subscales and scale total point (p < .05). As a result, it can be stated that physical education and sport teachers who have a less than 10 years experience take part more in performing studies that are based on collaboration, creating an impact on the students and colleagues with model behavior and performing executive activities as compared to teachers who have 10 years and more experience.

Survey data was collected from teacher leader participants of one mathematics professional development organization to understand how participants' growth and development as a teacher leader not only shaped their mathematics instructional practices, but influenced their choices in leadership roles. Further the authors share how the learning environment and pedagogical choices of the project director supported a teacher-driven professional development approach. Recommendations as well as a model for developing a teacher-driven professional development organization are provided for replication.

Professional development schools (PDS), a specific type of school-university partnership, offer distinctive learning environments for teachers by encouraging innovation and modeling best instructional practices. In PDS partnerships, opportunities abound for teachers to assume learning-focused leadership roles such as team lead, instructional coach, and professional developer. Drawing from the book Teacher Leadership in Professional Development Schools, this article recounts stories of learning-focused teacher leadership in two different PDS partnerships that resulted in positive outcomes for kindergarten through fifth grade English Learners (EL) and for ninth grade algebra students. Supported by research, the stories illustrate how providing embedded support and opportunities for teacher leadership through the PDS core practices of teacher preparation, professional development, inquiry and research, and student learning is advantageous for both teachers and students.

Activities of Physical Education Teachers in the Process of Forming Motor Skills of the StudentsIntroduction. The aim of this study was to assess the motivating and informing activities taken by physical education teachers in the classes devoted to shaping students' motor skills. Material and methods. The study was carried out in 55 secondary schools from Lublin region. It covered 30 female teachers and 52 male teachers representing all levels of career advancement. Material was collected on the basis of specially developed lesson observation sheet. On this basis, the information of 315 lessons was obtained. Results. The data were analyzed in relation to gender and professional promotion of the subjects. It was found that the respondents did better with informing than motivating activities, and in their implementation there were no major differences between female and male teachers. The tendency to change the level of the analyzed activities according to the professional promotion status occurred only among male teachers. Conclusions. Analysis showed that the teachers should place more emphasis on motivating activities, and especially on convincing students about the possibilities in the use of after-school activity of what they mastered in the classroom.

The purpose of this research is to enquire the ELT teachers’ perspective of continuous professional development under restricted conditions they are obliged to teach English. Therefore, 20 EFL teachers who have been working at different state schools in the remote villages of southeast region of Turkey were selected as the participants of the inquiry. The data were collected in two different processes. First, all the teachers in the study were interviewed to answer the questions in the first part of the survey individually. Then, randomly selected 12 teachers were separated into two groups for online focus-group discussions, which were held in a semi-structured context by leading questions adapted from Brown (2013). Data collection processes were audio-recorded, and the qualitative data obtained from interviews and focus group discussions were coded and clustered to form specific themes. The results of the research revealed that teachers working in underprivileged districts of Turkey: (a) believe the crucial contribution of professional development activities for teacher quality and/or student achievement (b) have very limited opportunities and options for sustained professional development, and (c) think that the times allocated for professional development activities should be increased. Moreover, teachers these teachers (d) hope to take place in the planning phase of professional development activities, and (e) are dissatisfied with unfair financial situation. Upon the analysis of these items stated in the results, male teachers were found to focus on more general ideas compared to female teachers (item a and item b). On the other hand, the results indicated that female teachers focused on specific ideas statistically more often compared to male teachers (item c and item d). The teachers did not show statistical gender difference in terms of financial limitations (item e). The results of the research might be generalized to the similar contexts in other underprivileged districts, and similar researches might be conducted with teachers of other fields in order to reach results that are more generalizable.

The present study analyzed the gender-wise professional qualifications and competencies of teacher educators and subject teachers of education. The respondents were categorized into three groups in order to measure their competencies and professional qualification. These were Heads / Principals, Teacher Educators and Subject Teachers of Education and their students. Questionnaires and personal profile prorforma were used as instruments for data collection. T-test and Percentage were applied for the purpose of analysis. The data analysis states most of the male and female subject teachers of education and teachers educators do not have any professional qualification as well as competencies of the male teachers is significantly different from female teachers. Male teachers were competent and efficient as compared to female teachers. It is suggested to the male and female teachers to get professional qualifications for improving their level of qualification. Moreover, female teachers need to enhance their competencies for competing for male teachers in the field of teaching.

Previous scientific literature has not determined the influence exerted by trainers and teachers of adolescents on the development of gender stereotypes in sport. For this reason, the aims of the present research were to establish differences in gender stereotypes in sport among teachers and trainers as a function of profession and sex and to analyze the influence of age and years of experience of male and female trainers and teachers on the gender stereotypes in sport. For this purpose, 127 teachers and trainers completed the questionnaire “gender beliefs and stereotypes towards physical activity and sport”. The results showed a significantly higher score of the teachers in “beliefs about physical activity and gender” (p = 0.048) and of the trainers in “physical education classes and gender” (p = 0.006). Concerning sex, women showed higher scores in “sport and gender” (p = 0.005), and men in “beliefs about physical activity and gender” (p = 0.045). Regarding covariates, age showed significant differences in “sport and gender” (p = 0.029), with female teachers showing higher values with respect to female trainers and male teachers, while years of experience showed differences in “beliefs about sport and gender” (p = 0.044), with male teachers showing higher values than male trainers and female teachers.
