The objective of the analysis developed in this paper is to verify whether the sustainability of the hotel ospitality model contributes to the competitiveness of tourist destinations. The research question is: does the model of “albergo diffuso” satisfy the requirement for a social, economic and environmental sustainability? The research method adopted consisted in a survey with the submission of a questionnaire to a number of alberghi diffusi operating worldwide, that is 130 units of analysis. The submission period went from October to December 2016. Through the questionnaire submitted to the interviewees it has been possible to analyze the motivation for the business start-up as well as the characteristics of the entrepreneur, the managerial systems and the governance style. The results will be analyzed through the application of the Weaver model (2014; 2017) which is considered essential to evaluate the contribution of the albergo diffuso to tourism sustainability. The implementation of the Weaver matrix to evaluate the contribution of the albergo diffuso to the sustainability of a tourist destination is the original element of the paper. The paper discusses the implications of sustainability with particular regards to the “albergo diffuso”. Therefore, it would be suitable to expand the analysis to additional models of tourist hospitality present in the international tourism scenario

The research method is applied in nature and follows a descriptive analytic approach. The findings of the research covers issues such as incompatible applications, resulting in the fact that 80 percent of respondents attribute their dissatisfaction from the environmental conditions of the neighborhood to workshop areas and agricultural fields in the margin of their neighborhood which in turn has resulted in slum life problems in the neighborhood and formation of an inconsistent social context in which 63 percent of the people are dissatisfied of these conditions. While 70 percent of the respondents express their willingness to refurbish their houses, only 73 percent of the respondents attribute proximity to their workplace as the main reason why they prefer to stay in the neighborhood and 89 inhabitants are not well satisfied with the urban services delivered. </span></p>

Despite the presence of many naturally attractive tourist destinations, tourism in the Middle Eastern countries is affected because of the unfair media presentation of the geopolitical tensions in some parts of the region. In order to increase the number of tourists to this region, it becomes important to educate and train the tour guides to influence the tourists visiting these destinations by the quality level of their service and to provide destination-related information to the tourists to encourage them to revisit these destinations as well as recommend these destinations to their family and friends. In this context, this research, by undertaking a case study of the tourism in these destinations, provides a broader account of the role of tour guides in increasing the number of tourists to a tourist destination. The research also makes few recommendations in this connection along with future scope and opportunity of research.
