Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) is an emerging solution that aims to standardize existing proprietary streaming systems. DASH specification defines the media presentation description (MPD), which describes a list of available content, URL addresses, and the segment format. High bandwidth demands in interactive streaming applications pose challenges in efficiently utilizing the available bandwidth. In this paper, a novel Relative Strength Index (RSI) with Geometric mean (GM) namely RSI-GM is proposed for estimating available bandwidth for DASH. The proposed work starts by taking the video as an input at the transmitter side and then the video compression is performed using the TRLE. Then MD5 hashing-based AES encryption is applied to the compressed video data to provide data security. Then RSI-GM is proposed to estimate the available bandwidth for DASH. Finally, after estimation, the bitrate for estimated bandwidth is selected optimally using the Improved Shark Smell Optimization (ISSO) algorithm.

Objective: the present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of didactic alternatives, namely the audiovisualmedia, in conveying information regarding the oral adverse effects of oncology treatment in cancer patients. Methods: cancer patients were randomly divided into two groups: control group (n = 40) and audiovisualgroup (n = 36). The control group received verbal information regarding the oral side effects of cancer treatment.Conversely, the audiovisual group received the same verbal information, along with an illustrativeaudiovisual media presentation. Additionally, questionnaires on the subject were administered before andafter the intervention by the dental team. Results: the current study employed Fisher’s exact test for statisticalanalysis, and the results showed statistical similarity between the two groups (P > 0.05). Both educational approaches achieved the intended objective. Conclusion: a well-conducted dialogue can create adequate awareness among cancer patients and improve adaptation. Optionally, the use of innovative techniques, such as audiovisual resources, was observed to be an accessible and efficient alternative that can also be used in patient education. Therefore, educational videos can be used to improve patients understanding, adherence to therapeutic regimens, and quality of life and contribute to a better prognosis.

Experience-based industries, such as tourism, gain a competitive advantage when they create an extraordinary experience for their customers. Contemporary tourists prefer authentic experiences, acquisition of new knowledge and skills as well as participation in community activities. Therefore, they don’t want to consume only the products and services in the destination, but they are really interested in the story behind the tourist products. In film tourism, the story has a special role since it is a type of product that arises from the individual experience of the location, which is displayed in some form of media presentation. Consequently, it is particularly important for the destination management companies to use tools and techniques that can influence the customer experience. In this context, the aim of this paper is to analyse possibility of destination management companies to use storytelling in creating film tourism products. Although storytelling is often used by destination management organization as a destination marketing tool, destination management companies can use it to create high value-added products. This paper analyzes an example of good practice how a destination management company can use storytelling in creating and developing its products. However, as the example of good practice emphasizes, the application of storytelling in creating extraordinary experience requires an interdisciplinary approach and great creativity of experts from different fields, where additional value can be achieved through the use of modern information and communication technology. Applying this approach, storytelling is a tool that destination management companies can use very successfully to transform the film tourism product into an extraordinary experience for their customers. Keywords: storytelling, destination management company, film tourism

Abstract Background A growing interest has centered on digital storytelling in health research, described as a multi-media presentation of a story using technology. The use of digital storytelling in knowledge translation (KT) is emerging as technology advances in healthcare to address the challenging tasks of disseminating and transferring knowledge to key stakeholders. We conducted a scoping review of the literature available on the use of patient digital storytelling as a tool in KT interventions. Methods We followed by Arksey and O’Malley (Int J Soc Res Methodol 8(1):19–32, 2005), and Levac et al. (Implement Sci 5(1):69, 2010) recommended steps for scoping reviews. Search strategies were conducted for electronic databases (Medline, CINAHL, Web of Science, ProQuest dissertations and theses global, Clinicaltrials.gov and Psychinfo). The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for scoping reviews (PRISMA-ScR) was used to report the review process. Results Of 4656 citations retrieved, 114 full texts were reviewed, and twenty-one articles included in the review. Included studies were from nine countries and focused on an array of physical and mental health conditions. A broad range of interpretations of digital storytelling and a variety of KT interventions were identified. Digital storytelling was predominately defined as a story in multi-media form, presented as a video, for selective or public viewing and used as educational material for healthcare professionals, patients and families. Conclusion Using digital storytelling as a tool in KT interventions can contribute to shared decision-making in healthcare and increase awareness in patients’ health related experiences. Concerns centered on the accuracy and reliability of some of the information available online and the impact of digital storytelling on knowledge action and implementation.

Abstract The proliferation of multimedia devices and user-generated content has driven massive growth in Internet traffic for video streaming. There is a dire need to propose solutions that can pose challenging multimedia streaming issues to achieve a user’s quality. Dynamic adaptive streaming over HTTP (DASH) improves the user’s quality through practical systems with limited bandwidth that enables the streaming media to run smoothly. This modern technology can easily improve user perception and defines the media presentation description (MPD) in terms of URL, content file, etc. The proposed adaptation algorithm attempts to determine the optimal solution to alleviate the conflict between maximizing the video quality and avoiding buffer stalls. We evaluate the proposed algorithm against alternative solutions such as ALDASH and FDASH for video content by taking into account the video bitrate, buffer level, and video bitrate switches for the single-user environment. A set of experiments have been conducted to investigate and analyze the benefits of our proposed algorithm. A network simulator NS-3 is used to conduct the performance evaluation by our proposed algorithm. Furthermore, simulation results show that our proposed algorithm enhances video quality performance compared to ALDASH and FDASH in terms of user satisfaction. Last but not least, the experimental results of our proposed algorithm can provide high viewer quality in adaptive streaming as compared to ALDASH and FDASH.

Aim. The subject of our interest is to research the forms of prejudice about Christians among university students. Part of the research focuses on the question of the forms of prejudices of the research group in relation to religious classmates – peers and part of on significant influence of media on the negative perception of Christianity in the society. The reflection of the findings is a consideration of the decline in social cohesion due to (1) the existence of prejudices in the university environment in Slovakia, and (2) the often negative media presentation of Christian religion in the Slovak media. Concept. The starting point of the issue is the research into the forms of prejudice and the potential for social exclusion of young people due to the existence of prejudice in the university environment. The need for this kind of research and reasoning arises from growing fears and the strengthening of phobias that accumulate within the groups we observe. Results and conclusion. The reflection of the findings is a consideration of the decline in social cohesion due to (1) the existence of prejudices in the university environment in Slovakia, and (2) the often negative media presentation of Christian religion in the Slovak media. Cognitive value. Qualitative statements confirm the decline in social cohesion among peers due to religious diversity. We consider the presence of religious prejudices as an urgent call for such forms of education that would effectively contribute to the acceptance of cultural and religious diversity in society and to the promotion of social cohesion in the university environment.

This article analyses links between the archetypal myths in Croatian news stories and images of woman politicians transferring through the media to the public. A total of 73 articles have been empirically analysed using content analysis to identify master myths according to Jack Lule’s classification in Croatian news articles about the migration crisis 2015. The analysis covers the period from 31 July 2015 to 8 November 2015. The articles have been selected by searching web extension of the newspapers Jutarnji list, Večernji list and 24sata from 31 July 2015 to 8 November 2015. The data has been selected, coded and analysed per chosen woman politicians, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, Vesna Pusić, Mirela Holy, Ruža Tomašić and Milanka Opačić. The results show that the dominant myth in all analysed statements is the myth of a good mother. In doing so, the use of lexemes indicates a stereotyped and idealized social role of a woman who cares for and protects ‘her family’. Two framing perspectives are evident: one is a patriarchal, protective and defensive attitude towards migrants, while the other is humanitarian, based on a positive attitude towards migrants. The article’s value is that it provides a perspective on mythological narration within media texts, whereby the mythological narration could be used as a tool for stereotypical and ideological construction on politician’s images in the media.

IntroductionThere is a lack of studies that focus exclusively on return to work (RTW) and sick leave patterns following a work injury among young adults. This study aims to close the gap by contributing with knowledge regarding young adults’ sick leave pattern after a work injury and their experience of RTW after a work injury in Sweden. Methods and analysisThe present study is a multimodal study, which will use Swedish national register data and qualitative data collection by photovoice. Injuries classified as work injuries according to the Swedish injury classification were included. Registry data will be retrieved from the Swedish National-based registers of Swedish Information System on Occupational Accidents and Work-related diseases, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency’s database MicroData for Analysis of Social Insurance and the Swedish Longitudinal Integration Database for Health Insurance and Labour Market Studies. Persons who have registered a work injury at the Swedish Work Environment Authority in 2012 will be included. Sick leave patterns will be analysed using group-based trajectory models and multivariate analyses to explore how sick leave patterns have developed over 5 years. Subsequently, a participatory approach using photovoice method will be conducted to explore young adults’ perceptions of barriers and facilitators in RTW after a work injury. Results from the photovoice group sessions will be analysed using a grounded theoretical approach.Ethics and disseminationThe study has been reviewed and approved by the Ethical Review Board (case number 2019/028-6) in Sweden. Results of the study will be disseminated through peer-reviewed journals, print and media presentation, conferences and via reports to the funding agency.
