PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to identify the critical success factors for sustainable growth of the Indian banking sector and develop a model for Indian banks by using interpretive structural modelling (ISM). It suggests some of the critical measures of sustainability for Indian banks.Design/methodology/approachThis paper aims to establish a relationship among the factors of sustainable banking through the opinion of experts from the banking sector. ISM approach is applied to bring down the complexity of relationship among factors. ISM ranked the factors as per their ability to facilitate and dependence on other factors and helps to develop a comprehensive, systematic model based on the relationship amongst those factors. After developing the model, second reviews by the experts are conducted for their comments and thus, the final model comes into existence.FindingsLegal and environmental compliance is determined as the key factor which is driving the other factors of sustainable banking. It will surely going to pose a challenge for business concerns for initiating various sustainable steps that will be a motivational factor for generating business opportunities and sustainable collaboration.Practical implicationsThe study provides a comprehensive framework of sustainable banking which can be applied to various Indian banks. It helps to develop coherence between conventional and sustainable dimensions of banking.Originality/valueThe ISM is applied for the first time in case of sustainability in the banking sector to bring about a model for sustainable banking in India.

The authors present a new country market selection model using a three filter/two phase approach to scanning: 1) a macro filter using mega aggregate country statistics (external environments) in the rough cut phase with “broad fit” company compatibilities (values, vision, goals, capabilities, management feel) and critical success factors (make or break issues); 2) anEM filter to consider and evaluate emerging country markets of potential, also in the rough cut phase, matching the EM factors “broad fit” with the critical success factors of the organization and 3) a micro filter using key success factors for the company and product, market structural factors, and industry/competition factors which produce a “narrow fit” in the diamond cut phase with the organization’s objectives, strategies and resources. The emerging markets will be given full consideration in this model and factors selected will be chosen with the “fit” of the specific company, product, strategies, internal and external environments pertinent to the unique blend of variables in the industry/organization.

A key factor leading to the continued failure in IT projects is the lack of identification and appreciation for all the major components of project success. Critical success factors are those things that must be done or handled properly for a project to be successful. A comprehensive model of critical success factors for IT projects permits the development of better management plans, processes, and metrics, particularly for risk, quality, and performance control. In this chapter, general critical IT success factors are identified and techniques for the management of those factors are introduced; later chapters then detail those techniques.

Though the transformative impact of analytics on supply chain is beyond doubt, however, analytics in itself is not leading to improvement in supply chain performance, leading to ‘Productivity paradox'. This is of concern to practitioners as analytics is needed to improve supply chain performance to achieve competitive advantage for the firm . For researchers, it is of interest to develop a comprehensive framework to study the conditions in which adoption of analytics in supply chain successfully transforms performance. This paper proposes a research framework to study the “perceived benefits” and the “facilitating conditions” of successful adoption. Based on the research findings the paper tabulates the perceived benefits of analytics on supply chain performance, aligned to the SCOR model. Based on findings of “facilitating conditions” the paper proposes that presence of “Extended Supply Chain”, “Information System capability” and a suite of “Digital technologies” is necessary to harness the insights of analytics, for achieving improved supply chain performance.

Jelen cikkben a kutatás legfontosabb tanulságait mutatják be a szerzők. _________ The authors’ research was conducted to explore the ebanking attitudes, habits and vision of small and medium enterprises. By the interviews of more than 500 managers of SMEs, it is concluded that e-banking attitudes are not, or not significantly related to the objective characteristics of the enterprises, e.g. to the number of employment, the revenues or its activities. It became clear, that the interpretation of the specific e-banking terms means an important problem for some managers. The deficiencies of knowledge have direct effects on e-banking attitude and the use of electronic banking methods of the enterprises, although the value of the satisfaction level is above 80% among the customers of each examined banks. Thus, the main objective is to explain to the “Scepticals” and the “Considerers” the benefits of the “Progressives” cluster. The most important success factors of customer satisfaction are safety, availability in time and space and ease of use. According to the vision of the respondents, banking services will probably be shifted towards e-channels. In this study, the most important findings of our researches were summarized.

The important success factors to sustain strategically in the business environment of Indian Commercial Banks are found in the present study using Factor analysis. To remain competitive, stay customer-focused, imparting new, fast and technology–enabled services is possible only through critical success factors of Banking sector. A sample of 45 bank branches of public sector and private banks are studied through Bank executives and the success factors are found to be Employee Empowerment, Service Culture and Bank Evidence, Service Culture and Bank Evidence, Benchmarking Union involvement, Customer Satisfaction, values and ethics

Nowadays, e-banking plays an important role in e-society and human life. Imagine an e-society without e-banking is not possible. The e-banking is considered as an enabler factor to e-business, e-commerce, e-government and other e-initiatives. Despite the pivotal role of e-banking in our lives, yet a comprehensive conceptual model of electronic banking success factors has not been provided by the researchers. The present chapter is trying to provide a comprehensive conceptual model by categorizing factors affecting implementation of electronic banking. In this regards, the factors affecting implementation of electronic banking was classified based on Co-structural factors, Content factors and Context factors. We called this conceptual model as the Tri-Category (3C) Model. The questionnaire used for gathering data. The results showed that there is a positive relationship between successful implementation of e- Banking and attention to Co-structural, Content and Contextual factors. At the end of chapter, several recommendations have been offered to implementing successful E-banking.

This chapter provides policy makers with a comprehensive framework for developing national digital government strategies. This framework raises the importance of technical and economic situations, cross-country comparison of laws and institutions, and the necessity of considering political contexts. More importantly, it outlines the general developmental strategies and critical success factors for improving the practice of national digital government efforts. To illuminate the utility and application of the framework through an examination of Poland and Taiwan’s experience, this chapter also yields insights into specific considerations for designing and improving digital government.
