Healthcare organizations are implementing quality management system by forming legal entity, by carrying out administrative structural changes and developing healthcare organization’s structure, set-up, functional standards, clinical guideline, rules and employee´ moral principles.  Introduction of accreditation system into healthcare organizations is becoming an accepted standard, however, healthcare paradigm shift outcome is insufficient.  In this connection, researchers, citizens and policy makers are speaking out that the quality of and access to healthcare service is getting worse than before. Management capability index presents management assessment by score, assesses outcome of organizational functions and makes it possible to measure management capability.  This study was performed at the Amgalan maternity hospital, Urguu maternity hospital and Khuree maternity hospital between July 2019 and September 2019     and   cross-sectional study method was used. The study involved 480 employees of above-mentioned hospitals.  We used 9 chapter and 90 criteria that were used in more than 30 Mongolian Public (i.e., Governmental) Organizations for capability assessment to determine management capability index of the maternity hospitals. Organization management capabilities, as an organizational goal and task, leadership skill in an organization, appropriate structure and set-up, organization’s incentive and motivation leverage schemes, organization’s relationship and collaboration, organizational behavior and culture, resource utilization, knowledge and innovation, organizational productivity, quality and performance were included in the questionnaire.  Organizations capability index was calculated with a score point of 1 to 5 for each question.  A total 480 employees, including 220 from the Urguu maternity Hospital, 125 from the Khuree maternity hospital and 135 from the Amgalan maternity hospital were included in this study. When responses to the question of management capability were according to duties and functions, not much difference was observed among the three hospitals, but when the responses were compared with that provided by doctors, nurses, obstetricians and other medical staff, a 1.8 percentage higher point was given by the administrative and service staff. Regression analysis showed strong relation between management capability assessment of doctors, nurses, obstetricians and other employee of the select hospitals (p<0.001 and R=0.89). Organizational management capabilities of Urguu and Khuree Maternity Hospitals, which  have not yet introduced quality management system, are different from the Amgalan maternity hospital’s organizational management capability (p=.000). Doctors, obstetricians, nurses and other employee’ assessed organizational management capability by 73.5 percent respectively. There is a positive correlation ship between organizational capability and employee satisfaction. Better and higher management capability of an organization results in higher employee satisfaction.

Background: Management capability index presents the management assessment of any organizations. Therefore, we aimed to compare Mongolian maternity hospitals with the ones that have and have not implemented the quality management system.   Methods: This study was performed at the three main maternity hospitals, in Mongolia, between July 2019 and September 2019 employing the cross-sectional study method. The study involved 480 employees. We used 9 chapters and 90 criteria that were used in over 30 Mongolian Governmental Organizations for capability assessment to determine management capability index of Maternity Hospitals. The organizational management capability was 71.8, 73.6 and 93 at Urguu Maternity Hospital, Khuree Maternity Hospital and Amgalan Maternity Hospital, respectively. It is obvious that there is a need to improve organizational knowledge, innovation, resource utilization, behavior, culture and activate their organization. In the results, there is a positive correlation between organizational capability and employee’s satisfaction.  Conclusion: Employee’s satisfaction increases when organizational management capability improves.

To guarantee the run effectiveness of the quality management system(QMS), a comprehensive evaluation system of the QMS’s effectiveness is brought forward. In the evaluation system, first the evaluation flow chart is set up; Second the evaluation index is given out; Third the evaluation result is given out by the calculate of the grey integration evaluation arithmetic. The organization can find out why the effectiveness of the QMS is weak and establish improvement measure from the comprehensive evaluation result.

The high-quality processes usually have more count of zeros than are expected under chance variation of its underlying Poisson or other count distribution. Therefore, these processes are usually referred to as zero-inflated processes. The zeroinflated processes are commonly modelled by zero-inflated Poisson (ZIP) or zero-inflated negative binomial (ZINB) distribution. In a manufacturing set up, the evaluation of process capability index of a zero-inflated process can be useful in many ways, e.g. i) predicting how well the process will hold the specifications, ii) selecting between competing vendors, and iii) assisting product developers/designers in modifying the process, etc. However, researchers have given very little attentions on this aspect of zero-inflated processes. Only one such attempt is reported in literature. But, it does not always represent the true capabilities of zero-inflated processes, and sometimes it may give very misleading impression about the capability of the concerned process. In this article, the concept of Borges and Ho (2001) is applied to zero-inflated processes and a new approach for computation of process capability index of zero-inflated processes is developed. The proposed method reveals the true capabilities of zero-inflated processes consistently. Application of the proposed approach and its effectiveness are illustrated using two datasets published by past researchers.

Many business leaders believe that a comprehensive risk management system provides an essential foundation for maintaining competitive advantages. Moreover, the company is today in the need to set up this device since its environment is unstable and it is constantly changing. In the current circumstances of the virulent pandemic COVID-19, risk management is gaining importance. The majority of Moroccan companies, especially SMEs, are still in an embryonic stage with regard to the practice of risk management. It should be noted that certain SMEs have set up, in particular in the food industry, a food risk management system since this is of a regulatory nature. The results of empirical research have shown that the implementation of a quality management system or an integrated quality and food safety system in the companies promotes risk management. The risk approach is a transversal approach that allows companies to improve their operation and be resilient.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the active health Ombudsman service as an instrument to evaluate the quality of delivery and birth care in the Cegonha Network of the Federal District of Brazil. METHODS: This is a cross-sectional study of the telephone survey type carried out with 1,007 mothers with deliveries between October 15, 2013 and November 19, 2013 in the twelve public maternity hospitals that make up the Cegonha Network of the Federal District of Brazil. The instrument has 25 multiple choice or Likert scale questions, including sociodemographic data and acceptability evaluation in five domains: accessibility, relationship between the patient and health professionals, conditions of the structure of the service, information to the patient, and equity and opinion of the patient. We have studied qualitative or categorical variables according to the frequency and distribution of proportions. We have used the score transformed into a scale from zero to 100 for the analysis of the Likert-type scale questions. Results have been expressed as mean and standard deviation. RESULTS: Access to prenatal appointments was evaluated as good or excellent by 86.1% of the participants and laboratory tests was evaluated as good or excellent by 85.2% of them. The access to imaging tests was evaluations as good or excellent by 45.7% of the women; 79.5% of the interviewees had their delivery in the maternity hospital where they sought initial care and 18.3% received a home visit by a community health agent after discharge. Most women reported that newborns were placed skin-to-skin immediately after birth, 48.9% had a companion at the time of the delivery, 76.3% were advised about the first appointment of the newborn, and 94.8% were advised on breastfeeding in the maternity hospital. Regarding the evaluation of health professionals, 85.9% of the women considered reception and cordiality as good or excellent at the prenatal care and 94.8% considered it as good or excellent at the maternity hospital. CONCLUSIONS: The active health Ombudsman service has contributed to evaluate the quality of public management by allowing the incorporation of the perspective of users of the health service in the evaluation of the acceptability of the Cegonha Network in the Federal District of Brazil.

The current global trend in healthcare is standardization and quality management issues. Tomsk region is one of the pilot regions in this matter. The article reflects the aspects of implementing a quality management system in healthcare. The issue of the implementation of the “Lean Polyclinic” project, as a QMS tool, is revealed. It was noted that in most organizations this project is far from being completed. The author identifies the main errors during the implementation of the project, and focuses on the process approach as the foundation of a quality management system. A properly built model of process interaction allows you to quickly and efficiently implement QMS in healthcare organizations. The author spelled out the steps for implementing the process approach, and also proposed a model of process management using the example of a medical organization.

Background. A follow-up program for high risk infants was initiated in Alzahra Maternity Hospital in Tabriz city, Iran, in 2013. The aim of this paper is to give a brief report of the program.Material and Methods. Two groups of high risk neonates were studied. The first group comprising 509 infants received services in Alzahra Maternity Hospital implemented by the follow-up program. This included a full package for family to look after high risk infant and periodic clinical evaluation at two and four weeks after birth and then two, three, four, five, and six months later again. The second group including 131 infants in Taleqani Maternity Hospital received routine services after birth with no specific follow-up care.Results. Some anthropometric indices showed a significant improvement in the intervention hospital compared to control group. These included the following: head circumference at first and second months; weight in the first, fourth, fifth, and sixth months; and height in sixth month only. Clinical evaluation of infants showed an improvement for some of the medical conditions.Conclusion. Follow-up care program for a minimum of six months after discharge from maternity hospitals may help to avoid adverse and life threatening consequences in high risk infants.

Aim/Purpose: The objective of this study was to assess the interrelationships among knowledge management infrastructure, knowledge management process, intellectual capital, and organization performance. Background: Although knowledge management capability is extensively used by organizations, reaching their maximum financial and non-financial performances has not been fully researched. Therefore, organizations need to optimize their performance by exploiting knowledge management capability through the accumulation of intellectual capital, where the new competitiveness is shifting from tangible to intangible resources. Methodology: This study adopted a positivist philosophy and deductive approach to accomplish the main goal of this research. Moreover, this research employed a quantitative approach since this study is concerned with causal relationship between variables. A questionnaire-based survey was designed to evaluate the research model using a convenience sample of 134 employees from the food industry sector in Jordan. Surveyed data was examined following the structural equation modeling procedures. Contribution: This study highlighted the potential benefits of applying the knowledge management capabilities, intellectual capital, and organizational performance to the food industrial sector in Jordan. Future research suggestions are also provided. Findings: Results indicated that knowledge management infrastructure had a positive effect on knowledge management process. In addition, knowledge management process impacted positively intellectual capital and organization performance and mediated the relationship between knowledge management infrastructure and intellectual capital. However, knowledge management infrastructure did not positively associate to organization performance. Recommendations for Practitioners: The current model is designed to help managers and decision makers to improve their management capabilities as well as their organization financial and non-financial performance through exploiting the organizational knowledge management infrastructure and intellectual capital approaches. Recommendation for Researchers: Our findings can be used as a base of knowledge to conduct further studies about knowledge management capabilities, intellectual capital, and organization performance following different criteria and research procedures. Impact on Society: The designed model highlights a significant organizational performance approach that can influence Jordanian food industrial sector positively. Future Research: The current designed research model can be applied and assessed further in other sectors including banking and industrial sectors across developed and developing countries. Also, we suggest that in addition to focusing on knowledge management process and intellectual capital as mediating variables, future research could test our findings in a longitudinal study and examine how to affect financial and non-financial performance.

Breastfeeding is considered to be the cornerstone of child health. In Europe however, overall breastfeeding rates remain low. The present study aimed at estimating the frequency of breastfeeding in Greece during the COVID-19 pandemic period and comparing findings with the latest national study in order to identify a potential impact of the pandemic. Additionally, possible correlations of socio-cultural and demographic characteristics with breastfeeding indicators were investigated. This prospective cohort study included 847 women from five tertiary maternity hospitals, between January and December 2020. Data were collected by a structured questionnaire via interview during hospitalization and via telephone in the first, third and sixth month postpartum. Results showed that all breastfeeding indicators improved over the last three years. Full breastfeeding reached 7.2%, contrary to 0.78% of the latest national study at six months postpartum. Employment, marital status, educational level, mode of delivery, type of maternity hospital, body mass index before pregnancy, previous breastfeeding experience of the mother and infant’s birth weight correlated significantly with breastfeeding indicators at different time periods. The COVID-19 pandemic seems to have favorably influenced breastfeeding initiation and duration in Greece due to lockdowns, home confinement and teleworking.
