The article presents the significance of the analysis of threats related to the human factor in the rail transport system. The place and role of the human factor in the Directive on railway safety is described. Railway incidents in 2010–2017 were analyzed in terms of events caused by the direct action of employees in positions related to the safety and conduct of railway traffic. Methods that infrastructure managers and rail operators can use to correctly define the place and role of individual work posts in the organization and their impact on rail traffic safety are indicated. In addition, the article proposes a procedure for identifying threats in the area of the human factor, the interfaces associated with the work position of the traffic dispatcher are defined.

The modern development of science and technology has practically resolved the issue of ensuring the reliability of technical means, but the influence of man as an integral part of the man-machine man-technology system, remains not fully investigated. The problem of the influence of the human factor is versatile, complex structurally and is currently far from being resolved. Rail transport is a complex system in which the individual is the main element. Therefore, the nature and degree of influence of a person, as an element of such a system, on traffic safety is determined by the nature and degree of his participation in the processes of functioning of an automated railway transport system. The "human factor" is considered in almost all processes of the railway transport system. It depends on a person the level of labor and technological discipline, timely control and proper hazard assessment, reasonableness and correctness of actions in the field of their professional activities to prevent and prevent railway accidents. The variety of railway accidents that investigated in Lviv NDISE indicate that it is impossible to use standard mechanisms for cases where the “human factor” is considered, but requires a thoughtful individual approach to developing a mechanism for each case separately. The task of the expert in the study of railway accidents, in which the influence of the “human factor” is considered, is to establish the degree of its influence on the implementation (realization) of the refusal of the mechanism of a railway accident at the moments when some railway situations turn into others.

The article presents the concept of an integrated rail transport system in Radom, based on classical and dual-system trams, taking into account the role of regional rail in servicing urban and agglomeration transport. The development of the concept of the tram network in Radom was presented and then the analysis of the conditions for the development of urban rail transport was made. The article is a synthetic description of the author's version of the city transport service model, with an emphasis on the integration of various transport modes, as well as technical, operational and organizational aspects essential in planning the connection of the tram and railway layout in Polish conditions.

This paper presents and analyses the redefined Rijeka railway junction. The redefined concept of the Rijeka railroad hub in the context of port and railway interdependence dictates the need to find the accommodation of cargo transport to peripheral locations such as: Krasica, Kukuljanovo, Bakar, Ivani, Bršica and capacity for the island of Krk, while passenger transport would be implemented in the urban area. The most important projects related to Rijeka rail transport system are the construction of a new line of high efficiency between Zagreb and Rijeka, and a new railroad through the tunnel of Učka which will link the ports of Rijeka, Koper and Trieste. Together with the reconstruction of cargo stations Rijeka and Brajdica, an extension of the other tracks on the railroads Škrljevo-Rijeka and Rijeka-Opatija/Matulji should be performed as well as the construction of Krasica, Ivani, Tijani and Vrgljevo stations. The construction includes a multipurpose bridge to the Island of Krk and a railway line to the new container terminal as well as the new railway bypass to “elevation 200”. KEY WORDS: Rijeka railway junction, railway transport system, railway transport, Port of Rijeka

AbstractHistorically, human factors have caused or contributed to the cause of nearly every vessel collision. However, given the vast number and type of human factors that can possibly be involved, the typical marine investigator risks either considering these factors only superficially or becoming bogged down in an academic exercise. Beyond just saying the collision was caused by “human error,” the marine investigator should understand the role of human factors in the causal chain of events. Some human factor issues can be difficult to parse from the available information. This is particularly the case for historical events but is also true even where witnesses are available. Nonetheless, there are a number of key areas where hard facts can reveal human factor issues that directly caused or contributed to the collision or somehow exacerbate the results. This paper divides that consideration into three parts, (1) human factors that affect the risk of the collision occurring, (2) human factors that affect the response once risk of collision is perceived, and (3) human factors that affect witness perception and recollection after the accident. The construct described in this paper can be used by the investigator to ensure a systematic consideration of key human factors relevant to a collision.

This paper summarizes some of the work-in-progress in evaluating the role of the human operator in a novel system for colorizing black and white film. The findings of a series of initial structured observations and pilot testing are reported, followed by a series of sample human factors problems and possible solution approaches identified. Future plans for expanded efforts to study the new task of “coloring” are described.

Development of human society also implies modernization, respectively extension a road and railway transport structures. From this perspective, in order to achieve performance in the field of traffic safety, actions are also required to monitor the slopes, tailings dumps (active or greened) adjacent to transport routes where there are uncertainties regarding their stability. Ignoring stability and landslides can lead to loss of life, as well as significant material damage. Thus, the paper mainly addresses the issue of monitoring the slopes adjacent to road and rail transport routes where there are uncertainties regarding the control of landslides, as well as possibility of alerting before this occurs. From the multitude of possible solutions to be applied in the field, an equipment was developed and realized, which was experienced in real working conditions, and the results confirm validity of assumptions and certify the operation.

Abstract This paper analyzes the importance of bimodal solutions in the rail-road transport of goods with an emphasis on the aspect of ecology within the geographical region of EU-28. Using the panel regression analysis in the period from 2010 to 2019, we are trying to confirm the dependence between the road and rail transport of goods by applying several freight units’ measures: the freight transport performance in tonne-kilometres, the freight transport performance in tonne-kilometres per thousand of USD, and the amount of goods transported in thousands of tonnes. The application of data to all selected freight units’ measures in the regression models confirms a relationship between road and rail transport. A direct relationship between these two modes of transport confirms the complementarity effect, which means that, in most cases, the goods transport solutions require the combination of road and rail mode, where the railway should be considered as the main transport/carrier, the road transport, however, should have the role of short pre-transport or post-transport. The ecological aspect of such bimodal solutions can also be emphasized since the railway transport is considered as an ecological mode.

Technological solutions in the mobile and digital era are becoming more helpful in informing the population, educational systems, monitoring, tracking the individuals, working, and spending time from home. On the other hand, the valuable information within such systems is posed to the risk of breaches at the individual and organizational level. As a result, cyber threats are constantly evolving. Many security incidents and data breaches are associated with the human factor. Respectively, this work highlights the importance of human factors in cybersecurity. Firstly, this article gives a brief overview of the topic and its significance. Then we present the most common risks in the cybersecurity field and their impacts. The third part emphasizes the role of human factors in security and elaborates on the behavioral approaches. Our conclusions are drawn in the last detail. To further our research, we plan to investigate behavioral science theories on understanding the influence of human factors in cybersecurity.
