School trips characterize the main daily commute by students. Understanding how these trips are made and which aspects influence their choices is fundamental to provide improvements in transportation and quality of life for students. From a literature review, we listed aspects impacting the selection of the transportation mode used in school trips and the satisfaction with the quality of scholar transportation provided to the students. To qualify scholar trips in small cities, high school students from 10 schools located in 6 different cities of the central region of Rio Grande do Sul State were selected, totaling 763 students interviewed. Through the application of a qualitative and quantitative questionnaire we collected data on target audience, trips, perceptions of trips and satisfaction with scholar transportation, providing information for the diagnosis of the scholar trips. With the results obtained, it is possible to guide public policies aimed at improving the quality and safety of scholar trips.

http://dx.doi.org/10.5902/2179460X14227This work suggests activities to introduce and develop content for Solid Geometry, particularly prisms and pyramids with High School students, prioritizing the visualization of solids in space, identifying the differences in the shape and characteristics of its elements, without requiring memorization formulas. Also emphasizes the importance of recapitulation of concepts of Plane Geometry. With the passing of years, students have encountered difficulties in mathematics in Middle school and this has a direct consequence on learning of these students in contents related to the High School. To check the veracity of this statement, a survey was conducted through a questionnaire with teachers working with Solid Geometry in seven High Schools in southern State of Rio Grande do Sul. Suggested activities that introduce and complement the contents found in traditional textbooks. Teachers, even with limited resources may use these activities with their students to improve the learning of Solid Geometry in High School.

One of the greatest challenges on mobility nowadays is to promote the use sustainable modes of transportation for the population of urban areas. This paper aims to map the main barriers reported by high school students to the use of active modes (walking and cycling) in the city of Cachoeira do Sul, in Rio Grande do Sul. Data were collected through the application of a survey on a sample of city students and were analyzed using discrete choice model logit binomial. Aspects such as security and road safety, as well as distance between origins and destinations presented positive impacts on active transport use. Conclusions can contribute for planning safer and more attractive road environments for the active modes. Results are valid for the surveyed city and also for other small cities with similar urban mobility and urban development standards.

Abstract Choral singing is a novel approach to reduce dementia stigma and social isolation while offering participants a sense of purpose, joy and social connection. The pervasiveness of stigma surrounding dementia remains one of the biggest barriers to living life with dignity following a diagnosis (Alzheimer Society of Canada, 2018). This paper examines how a social inclusion model of dementia care involving an intergenerational choir for people living with dementia, their care partners and high school students can reduce stigma and foster social connections. Multiple methodologies are used to investigate the effects of choir participation on cognition, stress levels, social connections, stigma, and quality of life. Results demonstrate the positive impact of choir participation and indicate that this socially inclusive intervention offers an effective, non-pharmacological alternative for older adults living with dementia in the community. Discussion focuses on the importance of instituting meaningful and engaging dementia-friendly activities at the community level.
