The accelerated development of information and communication technologies has led to a change in the way the banking sector operates. If a comparison is made between a traditional and modern banking, it can be clearly seen that new technologies have helped banks to develop and offer their customers new products and services, as well as to perform their marketing activities in a cheaper and more efficient way. The globalization of the financial market, the development of new technologies, as well as the growth of customer requirements are the causes of increasing competition in the banking market. In order to survive in the market and cope with the challenges of the modern age, banks are increasingly focusing on marketing, which is becoming the main weapon. Digital communication channels such as social networks, Web banners, blogs, display ads allow banks to place their products and services to customers in the best possible ways. The research conducted in this paper aims to indicate the impact of the use of digital communication channels on the profitability of the bank, and on the other hand to point out all the benefits of bank customers who use modern methods of advertising. The research methodology is based on a review of the literature. The subject of the research are the ways in which banks use digital communication channels, with special reference to social networks, which are the most represented communication channels in the banking market in the Republic of Serbia.

Diffusion of information and communication technologies is a global phenomenon. In spite of rapid globalization there are considerable differences between nations in terms of the adoption and usage of new technologies. Several studies exploring causal factors including national cultures of information and communication technology adoption have been carried out. The focus of this chapter is slightly different from other studies in this area. Rather than concentrating on the individual information technology an overall e-Government readiness is the focus. This research conducted an analysis of the impact national culture has on e-Government readiness and its components for 62 countries. E-Government readiness assessment used in this study is based on the UN E-Government Survey 2008, while the national cultural dimensions were identified using Hofstede’s model of cultural differences. The research model and hypotheses were formed and tested using correlation and regression analysis. The findings indicate that worldwide e-Government readiness and its components are related to culture. The result has theoretical and practical implications.

Their methods of adoption and adaptation of technologies do not resemble high-tech societies where governments support massive infrastructure projects.  For example, highly creative uses of low-tech cell phones are energizing commerce and spawning new ways of building creative solutions, making African countries some of the fastest growing economies in the world today.

Abstract Recent developments in the field of information and communication technologies (ICTs) have created new opportunities for enhancing both the operations and competitiveness within the banking sector. The application of contemporary ICT-based solutions has resulted in significant changes in the traditional banking business, through the involvement of brand new approaches in the process of distribution of banking products and services to customers. As a part of the services offered by any modern bank, e-banking has become a synonym for an efficient system aimed at delivering traditional banking services through electronic communications channels, available to anybody, anywhere and anytime. The goal of the paper is to perform an empirical analysis of the current situation regarding the level of customer usage and satisfaction with e-banking services in the Republic of Macedonia. The study will enable us to determine which variables affect the level of adoption and satisfaction with е-banking services. The study is fully based on the statistical data analysis of the responses gathered from a representative sample of e-banking customers.

Taking into consideration the importance of digitalization as a new standard in business practice, the aim of this paper is to evaluate the impact of digitalization on the performance of banking sector globally and in SEE region. The main purpose of this paper is to test if the investments in information and communication technologies (ICT) contribute to the growth of profitability of banking sector as well as to the reduction of OPEX. In order to test the influence of investments in ICT on banking performance adequately, the static panel data models of fixed effects models were used. The results indicate that the influence of investments in ICT on OPEX defers on global and regional level. The results also indicate statistically significant positive relationship between investments in ICT and banks' profitability in SEE region.
