Fulfill needs of Siamese gourami still rely on the catch from nature, so the population in nature has become decreased. The increase of Siamese gourami fish production from culture is still constrained by the survival rate and slow growth rate in the seed phase. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of Siamese gourami stocking density on the application of optimum temperature and salinity to growth performance for optimization of production capacity. Application of optimum temperature and salinity refers to the results of previous research, i.e., temperature of 28 °C and salinity 3 ‰. Siamese gourami seed with length of 2.96 ± 0.42 cm and weight of 5.27 ± 0.10 g used in the research. The experimental design used completely randomized design with four treatments, i.e. 1 fish L-1, 2 fish L-1, 3 fish L-1 and 4 fish L-1. The results showed that there were an effect of different stocking density on absolute growth weight and length, survival rate, specific growth rate and productivity. This is shown in the C treatment which growth was 4.95 ± 0.037 g, length 3.51 ± 0.01 cm, survival rate 93.47%, specific growth rate 1.22% and fish productivity of 625.76 g.

The effect of stocking density on growth performance and survival rate of endangered Labeo bata, was conducted in nursery ponds from 14th June to 13th August, 2013. Three different stocking densities viz. 500, 600 and 700 piece-1 decimal were assigned as treatment T1, T2 and T3, respectively. The initial average weight of L. bata was 0.15±008 g. Hatchlings in all the nursery ponds were fed indigenous feed (26.95% crude protein) for 8 weeks. Temperature, ammonia nitrogen, pH had no significant differences (P<0.05). Final weight (g) was found to be the highest (4.06±0.06) in T1 and the lowest (3.20±0.03) in T3. The mean values of weight gain (g) was the highest (3.91±0.06) in T1 and the lowest (3.05±0.03) in T3. SGR was highest (5.49±0.02) in T1 and lowest (5.09±0.02) in T3. Yet again, survival rate was highest (70.33±0.88) in T1 where stocking density was the lowest among those aforementioned three treatments and lowest (61.00±0.58) in T3 where the stocking density was the highest among the treatments. And finally production (kg-1ha) was found highest (352.66±4.42) in T1 and lowest (337.50±3.19) in T3. Rearing of the Labeo bata fry in those three different stocking densities showed significant (p<0.05) variation both in highest survival and growth performance. Overall production of L. bata in treatment T1 was significantly higher than that of the other two treatments T2 and T3. The efficacy and suitability of dietary whole wheat flour supplementation was evaluated on the growth performance and survival of rohu (Labeo rohita). The study was conducted in 12 experimental aquaria at the Wet Laboratory, Department of Aquaculture, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. A total of 180 fingerlings of mean initial weight of 1.744±00 g were stocked at the same stocking density (268 fingerlings/m3). Four different treatments (T1, T2, T3 and T4) each with three replications were performed having different level of whole wheat flour such as 0% whole wheat flour (T1), 5% whole wheat flour (T2), 10% whole wheat flour (T3) and 15% whole wheat flour (T4). Feeds were supplied at 5% body weight twice daily in the morning at 9.00 am and in the afternoon at 5.00 pm throughout the study period. The rations were adjusted every week when new weights of the fish for various experimental aquariums were determined. At the end of the 63 days study period, the growth performance parameters such as mean final weight (g), weight gain (g), percent weight gain (%), specific growth rate (%/day) and the best feed utilization in terms of food conversion ratio were found highest at treatment 4 where fishes were fed with inclusion of 15% whole wheat flour and lowest was found at treatment 1 (fed with inclusion of 0% whole wheat flour). Water quality parameters were within the acceptable range and survival rate was found 100% in all treatment. Therefore, it can be concluded that treatment 4 (highest growth performance and survival rate of L. rohita with supplementation of 15% whole wheat flour containing diet) can be chosen by fish farmers for commercial culture of this species. The present study evaluated the effects of stocking density on water quality parameters, growth performance and survival rate of white leg shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei, reared in fiberglass tanks, without water exchange. Three stocking densities (50, 100 and 200 shrimp/m2) were tested. Each treatment consisted of three replicates fiberglass tanks (500 L). The shrimp were fed ad libitum four times per day with a commercial pellet (40-42% protein). After an 8-week trial, concentrations of nutrients in the culture tanks showed an increasing linear relationship with increasing stocking density. The growth performance of shrimp in low stocking densities was significantly greater than that in high stocking densities. The results from this study demonstrate that with increasing the stocking density the production of shrimp increased but in a low final weight and survival compared to low stocking density.

Background The objective of the present study was to evaluate the growth performance and feed utilization of African catfish Clarias gariepinus fed a commercial diet and reared in the biofloc system enhanced with probiotic. Methods The treatment was the frequency of probiotic application into the cultured system, namely, 5-day interval, 10-day interval, and 15-day interval for 60 days of experiment. Biofloc culture was grown in an experiment tank (vol. 2000 L) by mixing the probiotic (Bacillus sp.) 10 mL and molasses 200 mL per liter of water.  The fish was stocked into the biofloc system 7 days after cultured at stocking density of 1000 fish tank-1.  The fish was fed a commercial diet that contains 38% crude protein, twice a day at satiation. The application of probiotic was reperformed after 5 days, 10 days, and 15 days after stocking. Results The study showed that the growth performance, survival, and feed utilization of African catfish were higher in the treatment at 5-day intervals over 60 days. The ANOVA test showed that the application frequency of probiotic into biofloc system of cultured media had the significant effect on the growth performance, survival rate, and feed utilization of African catfish. Conclusion The best growth performance and feed utilization were  found at the application of probiotic into biofloc system at 5-day intervals over 60 days.

This study aims to determine the appropriate feed type and stocking density to improve the survival rate and growth performance of mud crab crablet during the nursery stage. The study consisted of 2 experiments as follows: (1) Rearing crablets with different feed types (including commercial feed, artemia biomass and acetes biomass) and (2) rearing crablets at different stocking densities (including 100; 200; 300 and 400 inds/m2). All treatments were randomly set up in triplicate. The initial sizes of crablet were 3.24 ± 0.54 mm in length, 4.54 ± 0.79 mm in width and 0.018 ± 0.004 g in weight. The result showed that using acetes biomass gave the best results compared to other treatments. The survival rate was 58.8% and biomass was 118 inds/m2. The second experiment showed that rearing crablets at 100 inds/m2 reached the highest survival rate (90.7%) and biomass (91 inds/m2).

Produksi tokolan udang windu PL 54 menggunakan hapa pada unit keramba jaring apung (KJA) di laut telah dilakukan di Teluk Labuange, Kabupaten Barru dari bulan Mei—Juli 2002. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendapatkan padat penebaran terbaik untuk pendederan benur udang windu dalam KJA di laut. Perlakuan yang dicobakan adalah padat penebaran benur PL 12 sebanyak padat tebar 2.000 ekor/m2 (A), 3.000 ekor/m2 (B), dan 4.000 ekor/m2 (C) masing-masing 3 kali ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pertumbuhan tokolan pada perlakuan 2.000 dan 3.000 ekor/m2 tidak berbeda nyata (0,57—0,65 g/ekor) (P>0,05), tetapi berbeda nyata pada padat penebaran 4.000 ekor/m2 (0,39 g/ekor) (P<0,05). Demikian pula hasil sintasan tampak tidak berbeda nyata pada padat penebaran 2.000 dan 3.000 ekor/m2 (56,8%—66%), tetapi menunjukkan perbedaan nyata pada padat penebaran 4.000 ekor/m2 (45,1%). Karena itu, padat penebaran maksimal benur PL 12 adalah 3.000 ekor/m2 untuk pendederan dalam KJA di laut.Juvenile production of tiger shrimps of post larvae was conducted in floating net cages in Labuange Bay, Barru Regency from May - July 2002. The aim of this research is to know the best stocking density of tiger shrimp post larvae in nursery rearing of floating net cages in the sea. The treatments were stocking density PL 12 (2,000 psc/m2; 3,000 psc/m2; and 4,000 psc/m2), with three replicates each. The results showed that growth of juvenile shrimps was not significantly different between stocking density 2,000 pcs/m2 and 3,000 pcs/m2 (0.57--0.65 g/pcs) (P>0.05), but significantly different with stocking density of 4,000 pcs/m2 (P<0.05). Nevertheless average survival rate of juvenile shrimps was not significant on stocking density 2,000 pcs and 3,000 pcs/m2, but significant different with stocking density of 4,000 pcs/me.Therefore, for juvenill production in floating net cages, the best (maximum) stocking density of potensial 12 is 3,000 pcs/m2.
