Agriculture in the Upper West region is primarily subsistence and rain-fed, and irrigation practice is significantly furrow andthe use of traditional watering can. This historical approach to agriculture is predicted to suffer severe setbacks due to climatechange. This research therefore explores farmers’ perception of climate change and its impact and how the farmers can cope withthe changing climate. The primary data was gathered through field observation, interviews and administration of questionnairesto about 400 irrigation farmers in three districts of the Upper West region. The data was analysed using 1. Statistical Packagefor Social Sciences (SPSS) and basic statistical tools. It was discovered that 62% of the farmers had no formal education withmajority above 50 years of age. Over 80% have observed rising temperatures and declining rainfall over the last few decades. This has led to higher evaporation and siltation of irrigation dams, higher transpiration of crops and water stress resultingin low crop yield, crop failure and food insecurity. The research also highlights anthropogenic activities that have influencedclimate variability and food production in the region. The research was concluded with suggested strategies to facilitate farmers’adaptation to climate variability.

We collected data from 38 students in the program through a survey questionnaire, which asked research participants these questions: Why did they leave their own countries for education? Why did they select Canada? Did they plan to stay in Canada after graduation? The questionnaire also asked participants to indicate whether they agreed with 26 positive statements about the program. In addition, participants were invited to make comments about the program. Participants thought Canada had quality education and a safe environment, and most participants believed that they had a positive experience of undertaking graduate studies in Canada. Over half of them indicated that they plan to stay in Canada upon graduation. Based on the findings, we made recommendations on how to improve the program.

Contemporary social sciences, including pedagogy and psychology, carry out researches in the field of competitiveness. The more competitive each member of the society is, the more competitive is the society as such. The aim of research was: experimentally approbate the developed methodology for evaluating the competitiveness of programmers. Research methods were: survey as pedagogical experiment, projective method for data obtaining; Wilcoxon test for data processing. The results of the  pedagogical experiment testify that: during the pedagogical experiment,  research participants changed their competitiveness self-assessment. Therefore it is very important to know self-evaluation indicators of professional development because it significant impacts both: programmers notions about professional self-development and competitiveness as result of this development, changing competitiveness self-assessment as well. During the experiment, the participants of the research gained new experience of reflection, reflecting on their professional development, including professionalism, career, in past, present and future, and this reflection experience can serve as a basis for programmer's professional development and adequate competitiveness self-assessment. The experimentally approbated self-assessment methodology of professional development and competitiveness is valid and can be used in further research.
