This article describes an evaluation of the Rural Development Outreach Project (RDOP), a broad-aim rural development project designed to improve the quality of rural life by providing personnel and resources from the university to aid in the solution of problems in the community. Rather than assessing the outcomes of the project, this evaluation used a goal attainment scaling approach to examine the extent to which the individual programs comprising the project followed principles of rural development theory in establishing their services. Results indicated that an integrated approach to problems and active participation and involvement of community members was most likely to lead to above expected goal attainment.

This case history reflects on a long-term change and development project in the Netherlands, undertaken in communities of practice (CoP) of 20-36 professional development schools for primary education. The initiators were 10 boards of groups of elementary schools and the University for Teacher Education for primary education. The project leader was Dr. Paul Hennissen, and Dr. Corry Ehlen of CoCreata Consulting and Research was invited as external consultant. For 8 years, several methods of in-service quality improvement were used to strengthen the self-management ability of teachers, teams, and head teachers. The case history especially demonstrates the application of “Co-Creation-Wheel” as a guiding tool in an innovation team. This instrument stimulates the individual CoP members and the CoP as a group to co-creative innovation. The digital tool of “Co-Creation-Wheel” proves to be suitable for a bigger number of participants. Complexities of the project and success factors are shown.

Abstract Aims To describe patients with persistent pain participating in multimodal rehabilitation with language interpreter (MMRI) with regard to demographic data, pain, anxiety, depression, fear of movement, health related quality of life before and after rehabilitation. Methods The university rehabilitation departments in Lund and Stockholm developed multimodal rehabilitation programmes for patients who cannot participate in ordinary programmes due to insufficient knowledge in Swedish. From 2014 to 2015, 50 patients participated in the MMRI. Data was collected at admission and discharge with instruments from the Swedish quality registry for pain rehabilitation. The assessments included health related quality of life (EQ5D), anxiety and depression (HADS), fear of movements (TSK), disability (PDI). Preliminary results Fifty patients participated in MMRI. Seventy-eight percent were women, and 88% were born outside Europe. Compared to patients participating in Swedish regular rehabilitation programmes (MMR), the level of education was low, 44% had finished high school (55% in MMR in Sweden) and 8% university (27% in MMR in Sweden). Also the distribution of pain differed; in MMRI 40% reported pain with varying localization compared to 33% in MMR. Both groups were frequent health care seekers, even though MMRl’s patients reported a higher frequency of visits than MMR regular patients; 94% of MMRl’s patients compared to 70% MMR patients were seeking physicians more than 4 times due to pain during the previous year. Both groups report very low health related quality of life. In the MMRI group, at admission, the EQ5Dindex was 0.088 (md) (MMR 0.157). This can be compared with 0.83, the value for the Swedish norm population. Conclusions Patients participating in MMRI, compared to patients participating in MMR, reported poorer health, higher rate of visit to physicians due to pain and less higher education than other, Swedish speaking pain patients attending to the country pain programmes.

The title of the proposed JEP project is: “Agribusiness Higher EducAtion Development” with the acronym AHEAD. This curriculum development project – in case of acceptance – will last for three years, from July 2005 and June 2008. The primary project site is the University of Zagreb, Croatia; the contractor and the co-ordinator institution is the University of Debrecen, Hungary. In the consortium, 3 further European universities (University of Hohenheim, Wageningen University and Scottish Agricultural College) will participate, from the Croatian side the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and an additional 7 Croatian institutes will also be involved. The total number of members in the consortium is 13. The main objective of the AHEAD project is to establish new BSc and MSc programmes in Croatia at two Faculties of the University of Zagreb. These are as follows: Agricultural and Rural Development, Food Safety and Quality Management and pilot MSc training in Agribusiness and Rural Development. These are preceded by faculty retraining programmes in food safety and quality management, as well as agribusiness and commerce within the framework of a MBA programme accredited by the International MBA Network. The professional content of the project is a modernised curriculum and training palette that would be available by the end of this project at the University of Zagreb, serving not only the higher education of the country, but the demand of the Croatian national economy as well, in line with the basic principles of the European Union.

La fobia social nace del miedo que una persona tiene por llegar a ser juzgado por los demás e incluso este miedo puede impedir que el individuo realice sus actividades diarias. Es así como muchas de las personas que padecen esta fobia sienten temor constante a tener nuevas relaciones interpersonales, al hablar en público y esto muchas veces antes que ocurra el acontecimiento de conocer a alguien nuevo. Aunque estas personas saben que no deberían tener miedo ante aquellos hechos simplemente es algo que no pueden evitar en sus relaciones interpersonales ya que enfrentan un grave problema, puesto que la comunicación y la interacción entre los individuos son de vital importancia. Por lo expuesto, en este artículo científico se determinaron las causas que dieron origen a este trastorno con la finalidad de establecer pautas claras para mejorar calidad de vida del individuo y su relación con el entorno. Se realizó el estudio en 100 estudiantes universitarios. Los resultados permitieron establecer, que los índices de los indicadores de autoestima y ansiedad fueron relevantes al momento de diagnosticar esta problemática en la comunidad universitaria. ABSTRACT Social phobia is born of the fear that a person has to come to be judged by others and even this fear can prevent the individual to perform their daily activities. This is how many people who suffer from this phobia feel constant fear of having new interpersonal relationships, speaking in public and this many times before the event of meeting someone new. Although these people know that they should not be afraid of those facts, it is simply something they cannot avoid in their interpersonal relationships since they face a serious problem, since communication and interaction between individuals are of vital importance. Therefore, in this scientific article the causes that gave rise to this disorder were determined in order to establish clear guidelines to improve the quality of life of the individual and its relationship with the environment. The study was conducted on 100 university students. The results allowed to establish that the indices of self-esteem and anxiety indicators were relevant at the time of diagnosing this problem in the university community.

The objective of this study is to evaluate, through a multidimensional index, the level of rural development of the municipalities in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The process used to determine the rural development factors, the contextualization of the dimensions, as well as the definition of the variables assigned to each one of them were carried out in order to accomplish this proposal. Thus, it was possible to elaborate and to analyze the mathematical index. Methodologically, we used Systematic Bibliographic Review, analytical exploration of the results, cluster analysis and Tukey test for index validation. Based on the analysis of the results it was possible to observe neighboring municipalities with similar results, which may justify not only the local evaluation but also a micro-regional or meso-regional study. The understanding of the quality of rural life of São Paulo, through a multidimensional index, was able to generate prior knowledge for development policies at regional and local scale.

Este artículo se basa en la experiencia de académicos anglosajones con este tipo de investigaciones, abordando los fundamentos conceptuales y metodológicos que la caracterizan y su importancia para el desarrollo individual e institucional de la docencia. Sin pretender hacer una presentación comparativa, se muestran elementos que asemejan y distancian la ISPD de la investigación tradicional.AbstractScholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) in the university context is a critical study of teaching aimed at reflecting on its impact improving the quality of student learning. This article is based on the experience of Anglo-Saxon scholars on this type of study. It addresses the conceptual and methodological characteristics of this practice and its importance to the individual and institutional development of the teaching practice. Elements that relate and distant the SoTL from the traditions research are shown.

One of the most important functions of management is control. Without its implementation the manager won't achieve the objectives. On methods of implementation of function of control in management many works are published. However in system personal, that is personal, management of this function in scientific literature much less attention is paid. In a special measure such situation is characteristic of a problem of the personal organization of high school managers. University managers play a special, significant role in development of the higher education. Carry to them managers of departments, deans, the rectorial case, and also heads of functional services of management of university (educational and methodical, scientific, financial, cultural and educational and other divisions). Relying on understanding of an essence of personal management, in article scientific and methodical approaches to implementation of function of self-checking personal activities of university managers are considered. Usually activities of managers are estimated quality of work of subordinate divisions of university, and problems of an efficiency evaluation of the personal activities which aren't connected with a management of higher education institution often remain in the shadow. However, as a rule, managers of departments, deans, rectors (and their deputies) are not only managers, but also professors and associate professors interested in results of the personal activities in science, pedagogics, public life. In our opinion, productivity, effectiveness and efficiency of a personal labor can be the indicators allowing university managers to control the personal activities. Faithful at first sight, these concepts, actually have semantic distinctions, but in a complex allow the high school manager to perform real self-checking of the individual activities as scientists and teachers. Within the research content and forms of self-checking in the sphere of personal management is determined, the sense of key concepts, content and features of personal work of university managers is revealed, experience of implementation of the offered approaches is generalized, recommendations about use of the offered indicators in case of a quality evaluation of activities of high school managers are made.

The didactic regulations of the study courses govern teaching activities for the specific aspects of each single course in compliance with the University didactic regulations. This work is the result of an analytical research, through which every single didactic regulation of the 27 Italian Universities that include the Degree Course in Speech Therapy in their training offer was researched and analyzed. To carry out this analysis we first traced the teaching regulations of the CdS using the Universitaly portal and the individual websites of the various universities; afterwards, the study of the documents found was carried out. The purpose of the story elaborated is to evaluate whether in Italy there is a certain homogeneity in the training offer and in the teaching methods for the degree courses in speech therapy. Furthermore, through this research it is possible to see the quality of the Degree Course and of the training provided with a constructive intent and not with the aim of making a critique as an end in itself. In order to obtain the absolute homogeneity of training among students and to minimize the differences between the same Degree Courses, the hope is that sooner or later we will obtain a single and valid didactic regulation for the Degree Courses of the same profession present on the Italian territory.
