The SCMNPs@BPy-SO3H catalyst was prepared and characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Vibrating Sample Magnetometry (VSM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Afterwards, its capability was efficiently used to promote the one-pot, three-component synthesis of pyrano[2,3-c]pyrazole and 2-amino-3-cyano-pyrano[3,2-c]chromen-5(4H)-one derivatives. The strategy resulted in the desired products with excellent yields and short reaction times. The SCMNPs@BPy-SO3H catalyst was readily recovered using a permanent magnetic field and it was reused in six runs with a slight decrease in catalytic activity. Copyright © 2020 BCREC Group. AbstractA green procedure for the one-pot three-component synthesis of 1-amidoalkyl-2-naphthol and 3-amino-1-phenyl-1H benzo[f]chromene-2-carbonitrile derivatives from the reaction of 2-naphtol, aldehydes, and malononitrile/acetamide in the presence of a catalytic amount of Fe3O4@enamine-B(OSO3H)2 as an efficient and novel heterogeneous magnetic nanostructure catalyst is described. The catalyst was characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). These strategies possess some merits such as simple work-up method, easy preparation of the catalyst, short reaction times, good-to-high yields, and non-use of hazardous solvents during all steps of the reactions. Moreover, due to the magnetic nature of the catalyst, it was readily recovered by magnetic decantation and can be recycled at least six runs with no considerable decrease in catalytic activity.

In this paper, a novel and highly efficient hydroxyapatite (HA) carrier for cultivating hydrocarbon degradation bacteria (HDB) is introduced. The HA particles synthesized through a sol-gel method and different heat treatments were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and BET method. The microbial amount and activities of HDB cultivated on HA carriers were quantitatively investigated in order to assess their enriching capabilities. The results showed that HA synthesized at 550°C and the one without calcination could enrich HDB 3 and 2 magnitude orders more than the activated carbon, respectively. Mechanisms of bacterial enrichment on HA and activated carbon were also studied, and it is believed that the high bioactivity and the surface morphology of HA were responsible for the efficient reproduction of HDB. It is concluded that HA is a potential candidate to replace the conventionally used activated carbon as a novel carrier applied in the filed of bioremediation for oil contaminated soil.

<p>This work aims to prepare a new bimetallic phosphate catalyst using a new simple and effective method. This new catalyst was ready for the first time by a modification of Triple Super Phosphate (TSP) fertilizer with silver sulfate (AgSO4), followed by the impregnation of the aluminum atoms using aluminum nitrate (Al(NO3)3). The use of Al/Ag3PO4, for the first time as a heterogeneous catalyst in organic chemistry, offers a new, efficient, and green pathway for synthesizing 1,2-dihydro-l-phenyl-3H-naphth[1,2-e]-[1,3]oxazin-3-one derivatives by one-pot three-component cyclocondensation of b-naphthol, aryl aldehyde, and urea. The structure and the morphology of the prepared catalyst were characterized by spectroscopic methods such as X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and dispersive X-ray spectrometry coupled with a scanning electron microscope (EDX-SEM). In addition, the optimization of the reaction parameters was carried out considering the effect of catalyst amount, the temperature, and the solvent. The procedure described herein allowed a comfortable preparation of oxazine derivatives with excellent yields, short reaction times, and in the absence of organic solvent.</p>

Magnetic modified organobentonite (Fe3O4/CTAB–Bent) was synthesized by chemical co-precipitation method in which CTAB–Bent was firstly achieved via ion–exchange. The composite materials have been characterized by powder X–ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT–IR) and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) . The results revealed that basal spacing of bentonite was increased through organic modification and the Fe3O4 particles synthesized which covering the surfaces of bentonite .Compared with natural bentonite, the adsorption capacity of Fe3O4/CTAB–Bent for Orange II was greatly enhanced and can be easily separated from the reaction medium by an external magnetic field after the treatment.

Over the years, various types of techniques have been used for the synthesis of nanocomposites. In this work, melamine-based polyamide (PA) was synthesized using a one-pot polycondensation method under mild conditions. carboxyl graphene (CG)/PA nanocomposites (CGMPA) were prepared by CG nanofiller loadings of 1, 3, and 5 wt.% via delamination/adsorption approach. The prepared CGMPA nanocomposites were characterized using different analyses, such as Fourier transform infrared techniques (FTIR), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetric (DSC), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The effects of the CG on the thermal properties of the CGMPA nanocomposites were significant. The results showed that the melting temperature (Tm) of neat PA and CGMPA were increased from 378°C to 393°C suggested better dispersion of CG in PA matrix. The decomposition temperature of PA was increased from 451°C to 463°C in CGMPA nanocomposites indicates the better thermal stability of PA matrix by addition of CG.

The one-pot reaction of 5,6,7,8-tetrahydronaphthalen-1-amine, mercaptoacetic acid, and arenealdehydes having strong and weak electron-withdrawing groups gave the corresponding 1,3-thiazolidin-4-ones (47–70%). When arenealdehydes bearing strong and weak electron-donating groups were used as precursors, the 1,4-benzothiazepin-2-ones were obtained (30–72%) by p-TsOH catalysis. All compounds are unknown and were characterized by GC-MS and NMR techniques, and available crystals by X-ray diffraction studies. The atropisomerism phenomenon was observed in several 1,3-thiazolidin-4-ones as confirmed by VTNMR method. The Tc was established as 332 K and the energy required for the interconversion of one atropisomer into another is around 16.8 kcal·mol–1. Chemical quantum calculation and NOESY displayed that more stable isomer has the tetrahydronaphthalene portion below the five-ring plane. Only a small difference between isomers (–0.21 to –0.84 kcal·mol–1) was observed by calculated energy.

Facile procedures to synthesize large quantities of uniform and well dispersed magnetite particles in water were developed through a solvothermal method. Magnetite microspheres were obtained by using FeCl 3 · 6H 2 O , urea and polyethylene glycol as the starting materials in ethylene glycol at 200°C for 8 h. The samples were characterized by using X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry. Experimental results revealed that the particles were well dispersed with uniform particle size and diameters in the range 260 to 280 nm. The saturation magnetization value was 71.5 emu/g with negligible remanence.

In the absence of sphere templates, hollow sodailte/NiO composite spheres were obtained by one-pot hydrothermal synthesis by using polyacrylamide hydrogels as "soft template". And the effect of nickel oxide content on the synthesis of hollow complex spheres was studied. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The results showed that when the content of nickel oxide was about 0.5%, the hollow sodalite/NiO composite spheres with high crystallinity, stable crystal, and obvious hollow structure could be successfully synthesized.

ABSTRACTBarium hexaferrite films having thickness from 3 to 30 μm were deposited onto 0.5 mm Magnesium Oxide (111) substrates, and were examined by vibrating sample magnetometry, torque magnetometry, x-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscope measurements. Ferrimagnetic resonance measurements were taken with the magnetic field applied perpendicular to the film plane. The FMR linewidth values for as-produced 3 - 30 μm films was 0.45 - 0.70 kOe, and was reduced to 0.06 - 0.45 kOe after annealing at 1000 °C for 2 hours. Further annealing increased the linewidth. The FMR linewidth for the 30 μm thick film was also found to decrease upon mechanically removing 55 ∼ 77 % of the substrate thickness. A 6-fold in-plane anistropy symmetry in the anisotropy energy was observed in torque magnetometry measurements for films thicker than 30 μm. These results can be interpreted as due to film inhomogeneity, stress, and the growth of small regions of non c-axis textured material.
