Abstract During the calibrating of star sensor, the calibration accuracy is greatly affected by the mismatch between the color temperature of the light and the to-be-measured star, which further affects the attitude measurement accuracy. This paper studied the near-infrared spectra of stars with different color temperatures, and analyzed the errors on star positioning and magnitude measurement of star sensor due to the color temperature mismatch. The results showed that in the central field of view, the spot centroid deviation caused by spectral mismatch is smaller than that in the edge field of view.And the defocus of the imaging surface also affects the spot centroid deviation. Besides, when calibrating with 6000K color temperature light, the maximum measurement error can reach -1.9126 magnitude.

Olkaria geothermal field is located in the Kenyan Rift Valley that is a part of the Great East Africa Rift System (EARS). The geothermal field continues to be associated with a high geothermal gradient that arises from shallow magmatic activities which are ongoing in the enormous igneous province. Exploration and drilling of wells that were undertaken in the past revealed the existence of exploitable geothermal steam. The Olkaria field is divided into seven sections namely; Olkaria East field, Olkaria North East field, Olkaria North West field, Olkaria South East field, Olkaria South West field, Olkaria Central field, and Olkaria Domes field. The productivity of the geothermal wells continues to be influenced by factors such as subsurface permeability. Permeability is one of the parameters used for the characterization of geothermal fields. Other parameters used for characterization are associated with geotechnical weak zones and include features such as; fractures, vein bodies, and deformational fault systems. The research work involved geoscientific characteristics of the Olkaria Domes field based on the geological and geochemical factors to characterize the permeability of the field. The research involved studying rock types in the area by analysing drill cuttings obtained from six drilled wells in the Olkaria Domes field. Three of the six drill wells were considered for correlative description for the purpose of this paper. Correlation of the main lithologies and zones for loss of circulation in the field was also undertaken as well as the creation of mineralogical maps to capture the distribution of the minerals that were derived from hydrothermal weathering processes. The depths and formation for major loss circulation zones in the reservoir section of the field were identified and included in the description. Analysis of soil gas survey using radon as a geochemical tool in the Domes field was also carried out successfully. The relatively high levels of the soil gas ratios that were analysed captured the ratio distribution of carbon dioxide to radon at various reservoir depths. The detection of the two gases at the surface showed the existence of permeable zones which facilitated the movement of the gases through the fault-controlled structural systems of the studied Olkaria Domes field.

Analysis is a branch of mathematics that deals with continuous change and with certain general types of processes that have emerged from the study of continuous change, such as limits, differentiation, and integration. In the history of mathematics, analysis is the first subject became epidemic, the development of analysis originated from the British mathematician and physicist, the Sir Isaac Newton, and the German mathematician, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, who developed the theory of Calculus, with hundred-years developing, the modern analysis is now very ample and has widely applications, it has grown into an enormous and central field of mathematical research, with applications throughout the sciences and in areas such as finance, economics, and sociology. In this paper, we investigated in some detail with the changing of the ideas in mathematical analysis. By numerating historical facts and the mathematical ideas, we concluded the result that the ideas changing is because of the changing of the studying objects, the conclusion are studied detailly in the paper.

Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the accommodative response in young participants with visual impairment in comparison with visually normal participants. Methods: Fifteen participants with confirmed visual impairment and 30 visually normal participants aged 12–15 years were recruited. Accommodative response was measured using autorefractor (Grand Seiko WV500) at distances of accommodative demand of 33, 25, and 20 cm. The targets were one-line-above participant threshold acuity. The participants’ accommodative responses were compared between both groups after calibration for refractive errors and the vertex distance of the glasses. Visual acuity and refractive status were also assessed. Results: The age was not significantly different between both participant groups. The visual acuity of visually impaired patients was 6/30 to 6/240, and that of visually normal participants was 6/7.5 or better. Ten of the visually impaired patients and 29 of visually normal participants were myopic. In total, 61–73% of visually impaired patients showed an accommodative lead. Five subtypes of accommodative response were observed. In general, the accommodative inaccuracy increased with increasing accommodative demand. However, the visually normal participants largely exhibited an accommodative lag. A mild-to-moderate relationship was observed between visual acuity and accommodative response (r = 0.3–0.5, p < 0.05). Conclusion: Accommodative response in young visually impaired patients can be variable and on an individual basis. Low vision specialists should anticipate accommodative response outside the normal range. Therefore, we shall consider evaluating each patient’s accommodative response before prescribing any near addition lenses. Accommodation inaccuracy is often more complex than predicted due to increased depth of focus caused by reduced visual acuity.

In this paper we investigate the energy integral which is obtained in the problem of the motion of a material point in a central field within the frame of the general theory of relativity. Applied is the method of the small parameter in a combination with the balance method. Derived is a compact formula, describing the trajectory of the motion. This formula gives a correct quantitative description of the basic relativistic effects. We prove the shortening of the major axis of the orbit in comparison with the case where we do not take into account relativistic effects. This result can be useful for analysing the structure of planet systems around massive stars.

Distinct regions of the cerebellum connect to separate regions of the cerebral cortex forming a complex topography. While cerebellar organization has been examined in group-averaged data, study of individuals provides an opportunity to discover features that emerge at a higher spatial resolution. Here functional connectivity MRI was used to examine the cerebellum of two intensively-sampled individuals (each scanned 31 times). Connectivity to somatomotor cortex showed the expected crossed laterality and topography of the body maps. A surprising discovery was connectivity to the primary visual cortex along the vermis with evidence for representation of the central field. Within the hemispheres, each individual displayed a hierarchical progression from the inverted anterior lobe somatomotor map through to higher-order association zones. The hierarchy ended at Crus I/II and then progressed in reverse order through to the upright somatomotor map in the posterior lobe. Evidence for a third set of networks was found in the most posterior extent of the cerebellum. Detailed analysis of the higher-order association networks revealed robust representations of two distinct networks linked to the default network, multiple networks linked to cognitive control, as well as a separate representation of a language network. While idiosyncratic spatial details emerged between subjects, each network could be detected in both individuals, and seed regions placed within the cerebellum recapitulated the full extent of the spatially-specific cerebral networks. The observation of multiple networks in juxtaposed regions at the Crus I/II apex confirms the importance of this zone to higher-order cognitive function and reveals new organizational details.

AbstractFor normally sighted readers, word neighborhood size (i.e., the total number of words that can be formed from a single word by changing only one letter) has a facilitator effect on word recognition. When reading with central field loss (CFL) however, individual letters may not be correctly identified, leading to possible misidentifications and a reverse neighborhood size effect. Here we investigate this inhibitory effect of word neighborhood size on reading performance and whether it is modulated by word predictability and reading proficiency. Nineteen patients with binocular CFL from 32 to 89 years old (mean ± SD = 75 ± 15) read short sentences presented with the self-paced reading paradigm. Accuracy and reading time were measured for each target word read, along with its predictability, i.e., its probability of occurrence following the two preceding words in the sentence using a trigram analysis. Linear mixed effects models were then fit to estimate the individual contributions of word neighborhood size, predictability, frequency and length on accuracy and reading time, while taking patients’ reading proficiency into account. For the less proficient readers, who have given up daily reading as a consequence of their visual impairment, we found that the effect of neighborhood size was reversed compared to normally sighted readers and of higher amplitude than the effect of frequency. Furthermore, this inhibitory effect is of greater amplitude (up to 50% decrease in reading speed) when a word is not easily predictable because its chances to occur after the two preceding words in a specific sentence are rather low. Severely impaired patients with CFL often quit reading on a daily basis because this task becomes simply too exhausting. Based on our results, we envision lexical text simplification as a new alternative to promote effective rehabilitation in these patients. By increasing reading accessibility for those who struggle the most, text simplification might be used as an efficient rehabilitation tool and daily reading assistive technology, fostering overall reading ability and fluency through increased practice.
