Since the outbreak of COVID-19, all countries have taken certain measures to restrain the spread of COVID-19. It is a complex and practical issue to study the measures and effects of the epidemic prevention and control. The spread of the epidemic in different countries has certain characteristics, and the prevention and control models and effects in different countries are also different. In this paper, the key factors affecting the prevention effect of COVID-19 were analyzed by integrating multiple data and using interdisciplinary methods of mathematics, statistics and information management science on the basis of public management, and the system model of influencing factors of COVID-19 was constructed.

We here draw attention to a practical issue: the approach to certain unusual gastric ulcers with haemorrhage- or perforation-induced complications. This category of ulcers, i.e., giant (over 2–3 cm) and multiple ulcers, is rarely encountered. We discuss the circumstances determining the occurrence of such lesions, their diverse aetiology and pathogenesis, their common manifestations, and the severity of their evolution. Some of the lesions are benign (chronic or acute ulcers), whereas others are neoplastic: carcinoma, stromal tumours, and lymphomas. In gastric ulcers, the characteristics of this particular and rare category of lesions strictly places them in the surgical field, requiring primary surgical intention. Conservative treatments are not effective in such cases, and preoperative biopsies are not appropriate for emergency interventions. Whether these unusual ulcers are benign or malign, they need to be surgically removed.

As social media, virtual reality, the internet of things, artificial intelligence, mobile computing, cloud computing, virtual collaboration platforms and other new technologies become an integral part of our life, more and more of us are facing a practical issue: insufficiency of psychic energy. Approaching the cyberneticization of the human condition from the perspective of psychic energy makes for a sorely needed critical intervention. This article reveals the vampiric nature of cyberspacetime, looks into vitalistic philosophy and spiritual praxes for coping strategies, and calls for homo ludens to rise above apparatuses of capture and conserve psychic energy for negentropic endeavours, psychosomatic events and spiritual awakening. It proceeds with the assumption that news about one’s autopoiesis and becoming is the most important news. Part of the motive is to demonstrate media theory and time-tested spiritual praxes as equipment for living.

Using the methodology of conversation analysis to examine interactions in outdoor activities, this study explores how participants specifically see an object or event in the development of an activity. In particular, the distinction between (visual) perception and knowledge is oriented to by the participants as a practical issue that informs their alternative action constructions. This distinction matters as a resource for implementing an action in an interaction. The data are in Japanese with English translations.

Automated pig monitoring is important for smart pig farms; thus, several deep-learning-based pig monitoring techniques have been proposed recently. In applying automated pig monitoring techniques to real pig farms, however, practical issues such as detecting pigs from overexposed regions, caused by strong sunlight through a window, should be considered. Another practical issue in applying deep-learning-based techniques to a specific pig monitoring application is the annotation cost for pig data. In this study, we propose a method for managing these two practical issues. Using annotated data obtained from training images without overexposed regions, we first generated augmented data to reduce the effect of overexposure. Then, we trained YOLOv4 with both the annotated and augmented data and combined the test results from two YOLOv4 models in a bounding box level to further improve the detection accuracy. We propose accuracy metrics for pig detection in a closed pig pen to evaluate the accuracy of the detection without box-level annotation. Our experimental results with 216,000 “unseen” test data from overexposed regions in the same pig pen show that the proposed ensemble method can significantly improve the detection accuracy of the baseline YOLOv4, from 79.93% to 94.33%, with additional execution time.

Purpose: The key to successful textbook compilation lies in incorporating children’s experiences and facilitating their growth. This study examines the process of textbook compilation. Design/Approach/Methods: This study criticizes the traditional compiling approach of excessive lecturing and reasoning. It further elaborates the theoretical and institutional background for the traditional approach. Involving retrospective narratives, researchers reflect on how new textbook compilation tends to connect with children’s experience. Findings: Researchers have explored several approaches to organizing and reconstructing children’s experiences in preparing textbooks, including using “an experience” to awaken children’s experiences, using the expression of experience to reconstruct children’s experience, and transforming children’s “experiences” ( jing yan) into lived experiences ( ti yan). Another approach involves facilitating the connection and interaction between children’s experiences and those of others in order to bridge personal experience and sociocultural values. However, this can only be achieved by ensuring that textbooks reflect and are part of children’s lives. The successful incorporation of children’s experiences into textbook compilation lays the foundation for children to identify with textbooks and internalize textbook values. Originality/Value: Bridging the gap between children’s experience and textbooks constitutes the primary theoretical and practical issue in textbook compilation and education.

The issue of obtaining access to official notes of police officers in order to use them as evidence in a civil trial The problem of obtaining access to official notes of police officers is an important practical issue, particularly in a situation where there is a need to use these documents in a civil trial. Such a document may constitute essential means of evidence in a civil trial, confirming the facts presented by a party to the proceedings. In practice, however, police officers do not always automatically provide access to the documents in question at the request of a party; therefore, the purpose of this article is to analyze the provisions under which a party may request access to such documents. The article examines the standpoint of the judicature, which indicates whether police officers are obliged to provide access to such documents to a party or third parties and whether such an action is consistent with the provisions of the GDPR as regards the protection of personal data.

What method should be used to operate uterine fibroids and what criterion is currently desirable for solving this important practical issue - these are the thoughts that arise involuntarily when reading any new work on this subject and, despite the many significant improvements described in almost every issue of special periodicals, all these questions usually do not receive a definite answer and there is a vast field for all sorts of doubts when trying to resolve them.

The article analyzes the problem of deviant behavior of adolescents and young people: development, actualization of certain forms of deviations, historical context, compares similarities in different countries, and the current state of this scientific and practical issue. Psychological and age characteristics of young people who are prone to deviant behavior are highlighted. The relevance, and at the same time complexity, of the problem under consideration is noted, which emphasizes the difficulty of selecting research methods and developing correctional programs. We consider psychocorrective assistance to this contingent in institutions with a short stay (up to one month). The importance of increasing the level of psychological, medical, and legal knowledge, as well as the need for spiritual development, is noted.
