The educational policy will be developing strong human competency in which teachers’ research skill was one of most competency standards. This study introduces teachers’ research skill development through the Wlodkowski’s motivational approach and coaching and to study the teachers’ attitude toward action research. This study also examines the struggles and problem of doing action research. Participants included 12 teachers who are in the non-formal education center, Lampang, Thailand. The Wlodkowski’s motivational approach and coaching were used to develop teachers’ research skill. Data was collected by using the research skill inventory (RSI) and the research attitude toward inventory (RATI) which struggle and problems of doing action research questions. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze teachers’ research skill and teachers’ attitude toward. Friedman test and Wilcoxon test were conducted to evaluate median differences among the reseach skills and created pairwise comparisons. Content analysis was used to analyze the struggles and problem of doing action research. Results revealed that in-service teachers’ research skills increased in all domains. Teachers’ research skill scores after received treatment were significantly greater than the teachers’ research skill scores before received treatment, z = -3.07, p = .002. The posttest score of teachers’ attitudes toward was significantly greater than pretest score, z = -3.08, p = .001. Teachers struggled with how to conduct research and who could help them.

Abstract Context: Research is emphasized as a critical component of Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Osteopathic Recognition (OR) criteria, yet there remains a deficit of osteopathic contributions to the literature. Scholar 12 combines discrete research development tools into an interactive application and blog forum that guides students from research team formation with an agreed-upon query to a scholarly product and presentations. Objective: This study aims to evaluate a beta test of Scholar 12 in developing a scholarly culture within medical school education. Methods: An unblinded prospective cohort beta trial by 6 osteopathic medical students across different campuses provided feedback for improvement measures and self-assessed research skill competency before and after completing Scholar 12 on an accelerated time frame. The pre- and post-Scholar 12 surveys scored 12 skills based on learning objectives for each unit on a 5-point Likert scale. Results: The composite results from self-assessments of 6 medical students demonstrate a statistically significant improvement in research skill familiarity by the completion of Scholar 12 (p<0.001). Conclusions: The osteopathic profession has opportunity to advance clinical practice and fulfill ACGME OR initiatives with evidence-based medical research. Scholar 12 is a foundational educational tool and aims to engage medical students, residents, and attendings with scholarly work, regardless of experience level. The present survey provides a preliminary measure of the efficacy of Scholar 12 in improving medical students’ knowledge of creating new scholarly work. General feedback has been communicated to the application developer and editorial staff for improvement measures before the 2020 nationwide launch. Despite the statistical significance of these students’ self-reported progress, additional beta trials; blinded, long-term evaluation of students’ and mentors’ productivity as a result of this research learning tool; and controlled comparison to other research development programs are warranted. Scholar 12 is designed to accommodate students’ academic obligations with a convenient, virtual tool to learn the research process on a flexible schedule, in order to meet generational needs.

Flipped Classroom’ has become more popular in higher education for encouraging self-learning enthusiasm. This research aims to propose a learning process model of flipped classroom to develop research skill by applying critical inquiry theory in the instructional design to develop thinking, finding answer and research skills which are the key competency for conducting a research. The research methodology was divided into two phases: the first phase included literature review to develop the learning process model, the second phase included learning model suitability evaluation by expert. The results showed that experts have strongly agreed with the learning model. We anticipate that our flipped classroom model which has divided into 3 phase included <br /> pre-class, in-class and after-class phases with the addition of thinking skill development activity by using critical inquiry technics could be used for reference for teachers on planning and implementing instructional activities to enhance the research skill of undergraduate students
