This research aims to describe the characteristic of mathematics prospective teacher's computational thinking (CT) in solving the geometric pattern problem. The subject consists of 65 preservice mathematics teachers in Universitas in Madiun. The instrument was used in this research are geometric pattern problem tests and interview guidelines. The result shows that are three types of mathematics prospective teachers in solving the problem. First, CT substantial, i.e. prospective mathematics teachers use the conceptual knowledge who collaborated with procedural knowledge exactly. They use mathematics iteration to find the pattern and express them to the general form easily. Second, CT Nominal, i.e. prospective mathematics teachers, use manual ways to solve the pattern problem. They count using numeric, not symbolic, of solving the pattern formed. They can understand the design but can't express it to the mathematics model. Third, CT procedural, i.e. mathematics prospective teacher using the procedural knowledge only, not an expert in concept, and following the steps who teaches from experience before. The recommendation for future research is to develop the research to find the other characters in other mathematics subjects, in other students, to develop the learning models who can embody CT.

Fractals are self-similar geometric pattern which can be found in nature. They have applications in mathematic, electronic, architecture. Fractal sets also can be used to create chaotic systems. This work is about applying Sierpinski carpet order on the periodic table of the elements to create a new pattern for the chemical elements. Fibonacci numbers and Math lab software are used to transform a linear system to three spiral systems. This new pattern which is consisted of three layers shows that the flows among chemical elements are based on Archimedes spiral equation The purpose of this study is to show Sierpinski carpet order in the periodic table of the chemical elements and also there can be a chaos even in chemical elements.

Pattern formation of biological structures involves the arrangement of different types of cells in an ordered spatial configuration. In this study, we investigate the mechanism of patterning the Drosophila eye into a precise triangular grid of photoreceptor clusters called ommatidia. Previous studies had led to a long-standing biochemical model whereby a reaction-diffusion process is templated by recently formed ommatidia to propagate a molecular prepattern across the eye epithelium. Here, we find that the templating mechanism is instead, mechanical in origin; newly born columns of ommatidia serve as a template to spatially pattern cell flows that move the cells in the epithelium into position to form each new column of ommatidia. Cell flow is generated by a pressure gradient that is caused by a narrow zone of cell dilation precisely positioned behind the growing wavefront of ommatidia. The newly formed lattice grid of ommatidia cells are immobile, deflecting and focusing the flow of other cells. Thus, the self-organization of a regular pattern of cell fates in an epithelium is mechanically driven.

For an engineering feasibility study, we studied a simple design to improve NCSS (nanocarbon composite strain sensor) sensitivity by using its geometric pattern at a macro scale. We fabricated bulk- and grid-type sensors with different filler content weights (wt.%) and different sensor lengths and investigated their sensitivity characteristics. We also proposed a unit gauge factor model of NCSS to find a correlation between sensor length and its sensitivity. NCSS sensitivity was improved proportional to its length incremental ratio and we were able to achieve better linear and consistent data from the grid type than the bulk type one. We conclude that the longer sensor length results in a larger change of resistance due to its piezoresistive unit summation and that sensor geometric pattern design is one of the important issues for axial load and deformation measurement.

Respimat®Soft MistTM is a newly developed spray inhaler. Different from traditional nebulizers, metered-dose inhalers, and dry powder inhalers, this new type of inhaler can produce aerosols with long duration, relatively slow speed, and a high content of fine particles. Investigating the effect of the key geometric parameters of the device on the atomization is of great significance for generic product development and inhaler optimization. In this paper, a laser high-speed camera experimental platform is built, and important parameters such as the geometric pattern and particle size distribution of the Respimat®Soft MistTM are measured. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and the volume of fluid method coupled with the Shear Stress Transport (SST) k-ω turbulence model are applied to simulate the key geometric parameters of the device. The effects of geometric parameters on the spray velocity distribution and geometric pattern are obtained. The angle of flow collision, the sphere size of the central divider and the length and width of the flow channel show significant impacts on the spray atomization.

This study examines the lexical density of classical Malay texts. This study is divided into three main parts, namely, (1) the form of the keyword list in a classic text compared to a current text, (2) 10 keywords that appear as a result of the Simple Math Procedure (SMP) test, and (3) geometrical patterns that are produced to examine the lexical representations of classical texts according to their SMP values. This study uses the SMP as is pre-defined in the LancsBox 4.5 software. This study was conducted on seven classical texts that have been developed in the Korpus Petua Membina Rumah (KPMR) (Tips for Building a Home Corpus). The rationale of this study is to test lexical density as a complex lexical representation in classical texts. In addition, the relation between text and community was also highlighted as a phenomenon of traditional knowledge and feudal thought.
